The CWA of WA is acutely aware of the millions of animals that have been impacted by the bush-fires raging around Australia and we know lots of people especially women in many of our CWA of WA Branches are working hard to support those animals by creating wraps, pouches, jumpers, and nests for a wide variety of affected animals. One of the organisations that is coordinating crafters and providing patterns to make animal rescue items for this purpose is the Animal Rescue Collective Craft Guild
To respond to the terrible natural disasters occurring across the country, during CWA Summer School in the Sewing, Crochet and knitting classes CWA will be making printed patterns available for those wishing to create bat wraps and joey pouches, along with crochet bird and marsupial nests and knitted bird jumpers, for the rescued wildlife affected by bushfires. (Thanks to Perth Belles & Cockburn Branches for their work together to already support the Animal Rescue Collective Craft Guild).
To further support this work, the CWA of WA has a large selection of brand-new knitting needles and crochet hooks available. If you would like a FREE pair of knitting needles and/or a crochet hook to aid in the knitting and crocheting for injured wildlife please visit the CWA of WA office to collect your set - at 1176 Hay Street, West Perth, Monday β Friday 9am-4pm (excluding public holidays).
