Doggos release heat differently than humans. Sweat is expelled through their paws and they cool themselves off on their underbody rather than on their backs. Think of a doggo playing in the creek. Those are the areas where your doggo should be cooled off, the feet, underarms, and belly. Wet cloths are great for this.
β WARNING: Things are heating up today, tomorrow and the rest of this week! Remember your pets as you start to sweat or sit pretty in air con.
πΆπ±πΉ For domestic pets:
π‘ Check they have ample shade and ventilation all day (remember, the sun moves throughout the day - what's shady in the morning won't be shady at midday or in the afternoon).
π§ Ensure you pet has plenty of access to cool water, in multiple bowls incase one tips over
π
Keep your pet walks to sunrise and sunset, if the ground is too hot for you it's too hot for your pet!
π Never leave your dog in a car (a cracked window makes little difference to the temperature) or on a hot ute tray
π Add pet appropriate cooling enrichment to their day from frozen pupsicles to a wet towel for them to lie on in a cool and shady spot.
