Kisses from a special puppy. A fellow ‘professional dog trainer’ recently told me how dangerous it is to make direct eye contact with my dog. This may be the case for dogs you don’t know or for people who don’t have kind intentions. My dog makes direct eye contact with me all the time because my love and respect for her are reflected in those eyes and she knows she is safe…safety in relationship is all about how we relate!

Hello everyone,
After a very long time my new business model and page are finally up and running. You can now find me through P3 Play Paws Psychotherapy. While I’m no longer grooming, the Assistance Dog training services will continue to be available through P3 along with the other services including child play therapy, animal assisted therapy and psychotherapy/counselling. After careful consideration and with the significant increase in costs associated with providing services my dog training fees will be increasing to $130/hr ($120 private concession) from July 1st. To keep my services affordable and accessible I have avoided an increase in fees now for 3 years but unfortunately it’s now a necessary evil. For NDIS clients I have sought advice regarding billing for my unique service and the billing item will also change to 09_008_0116_6_3 under capacity building, innovative community participation.
For existing clients if this will cause significant hardship or access issues please talk to me and I will address any issues on a case by case basis. Thank you for your business and ongoing understanding.

Due to ongoing difficulties with builders and approvals unfortunately grooming services will not be restarting in the new year but we are pivoting and will be opening a new therapy based services later in the year for those who are interested. For those of you who are waiting for an update I apologise for the delay in posting. We are awaiting council approvals to go ahead with the works required for set up. It appears it will be a long drawn out process so grooming services are on indefinite hold until this is sorted out. I realise many of you will have moved on to another groomer by the time we can open again and I’m truly sorry we couldn’t continue to groom your babies. I will miss you and your beautiful puppies but wish you all the best. For those who may return to us when we relaunch or who are interested I will continue to post updates here as things progress. Training services will continue uninterrupted while we wait.

Hi guys I thought I would post an update. We have moved into our new place and are busy unpacking and finding everything a new spot. We are hoping for a mid to late February restart for grooming services at this point and have already restarted some training services. We apologise for the delay and thank our loyal clients for bearing with us through this time! We look forward to being back on deck soon and will post our new opening hours and availability as soon as we can. Thank your for your patience!

The Sunshine Coast animal refuge is in need of support with Christmas on the way. Most of us will be spending quality time with our puppies this year and I couldn’t imagine what it would be like for one of my babies to be alone in a kennel at Xmas. This organisation is reaching out for support as they are low on dry and wet dog food. I’m sure that any support would be greatly appreciated. Details can be found on their page.

A quick update for our lovely clients. Our house goes to auction this Saturday at 2pm if you’re curious you are welcome to come along! As you may or may not be aware this means the grooming salon will close from Friday 19/11 until we relocate. Thank you all for your patience and well wishes. We are moving! Dogz 4 Life will shut its doors for grooming services on November 20th in preparation for its next exciting chapter. Training services off site will not be affected. We will be relocating and reopening in the new year in our new location but don’t worry we aren’t going far! I have tried to secure an interim commercial space so we could stay open but sadly that didn’t pan out. I have sent a text to anyone with appointments after November 20th which may be affected and cancelled these appointments. We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused. It’s a bit of a juggling act relocating with a small business so please bear with us during this transition. We understand some of you will need to find another groomer and may not return but hope to see many of you in the new year. We will post updates here when available.

Benni and I would like to thank all our clients and puppy friends for choosing our little salon this year! It has been such a successful year and we are very grateful for your business. The grooming salon is now booked out until the end of the year so the online booking system has been closed as we simply can’t fit any more pups in for grooming services this year. Please note this will not affect dog training bookings which can still be confirmed with me directly. The salon will close for Xmas from December 19th. Beautiful Lucy added some style to the salon today in a day filled with the loveliest puppies! Every dog today was filled with joy, affectionate and a pleasure to work with from the elderly statesman to the tiniest puppy. Gotta love days like that.

Always time for play at the salon!

George is such a smart boy!

This is beautiful George playing the leave it game while waiting to go home after his groom.

Here is a lock down entertainment idea for your bored dog! This is a simple, free enrichment activity designed to occupy your dogs’ mind and wear off some of that pent up energy. Please note it is recommended that you monitor your dog during any enrichment activity for any safety concerns. I hope you are all keeping safe and well.

The amazing miss Benni

This is Benni’s first training session learning how to press the button for the lights! She’s such a clever girl still only about 80% successful at actually pushing the button down and still using multiple commands but great for her first effort! She already knows several basic commands like ‘up’, ‘push’, ‘closer’ and ‘more’ so it makes her pretty easy to train. I will post her progress once we have it on a single command. If you have a dog that you would like to learn a new trick come and book a training session with us!

Desensitisation at work!

Today beautiful Sunny confirmed to me that simplifying things can really make a difference. Sunny was afraid of grooming and came for his touch up today after multiple simple desensitisation sessions breaking down the grooming process and a whole lot of work from his family. He has gone from being difficult to groom due to fear of the grooming environment to a much more chilled boy who tolerated his groom really well today. We still have some work to do but what a difference! Well done Sunny and his amazing family for putting in so much hard work! This is why I opened the salon…to have the time to help enrich dogs lives in any way I can. This was so rewarding it bought a tear to my eye!

Dogs are so intelligent!

This is miss Benni demonstrating how a dog can be trained to interrupt unwanted behaviours (scratching/picking) by nuzzling or pawing and how they can provide support if distressed...she’s such a professional! She can also help with the washing, retrieve her medications, open and close cupboards...in fact there’s not much she can’t do. With a bit of time, effort and training you would be amazed at what you and your dog can achieve!

Beautiful Sunny came in for his first groom with us. He has been quite anxious when it comes to grooming so we’re working with him and his owner who is also really keen to help him feel better about it. Here he is after his first big day at the salon.

Unfortunately we will be closed Saturday May 1st and Monday May 3rd. We are back on deck Tuesday May 4th..

Relaxed puppy

Cooper the groodle came for a groom and a relaxation massage today...I think he enjoyed himself! Remember our loyalty program gives you a 10% discount when you combine two categories of our services (from grooming, massage and training) so grooming + massage = discount!
