Thanks to Waverley Park Equine for putting on a fantastic training day to kick the year off with. I'm super happy with all my rides for the day.

I had Indy for Munda Pines Equestrian in the 45cm and 65cm who was brilliant, especially considering this was his first time out on a full course.

Leawarra Black Pearl was smooth as silk in the 65cm and 75cm I can't wait to see how she grows this year.

Leawarra Cosmo was so cruisey in the 75cm and 85cm taking his first 85cm like an old hand. His going to make someone so happy.

BPH Epona is working on moving through the rounds on the neck rope and felt super in the 85cm and 95cm I barely touched the reins.

Hello gorgeous man! Stella has produced this absolutely stunning pure-bred American Saddlebred c**t for us.

I'm blown away by this little dudes conformation and temperament. His first experience of humans was to meet about a dozen wonderful scouts that were here for a horsemanship clinic.
He took the whole experience in stride, and his mum Stellar was so good managing so much busyness as a new mum.

Now, to decide on a name! I'm aiming for something astrological bonus points for storm references as he was born in lasr nights storms.

Welcome to the world gorgeous boy. Last night Juno brought this big, handsome, strong, c**t into the world.
He is already showing a bold, calm and inquisitive demeanour.

I will be taking EOI on this young man. He is such a special dude and will be a dream come true.

My first garland! It might seem weird but when you're always working on babies and fixer uppers you're rarely in the winning circle. So I was so proud when young Cosmo won us our first ever garland at the TARC spring show spectacular.
He aced the day winning his height class, his led class and bringing home champion in the challenge!
This is going to be one difficult pony to part with🤩 😭

Foal! After keeping us in suspense for way too long Gwen has brought the most gorgeous little c**t into the world! She has of course picked the middle of a storm and cold snap but I couldn't be happier.
The c**ts sire is the stunning Friesian stallion Orlando Maurits and he will be available for sale on weaning.

We have Opal, Epona, and Eli hitting up Harden Horse Trials Association.
Loki, Pearl, Juno, Sassy, and Danny providing pony rides for Gungahlin Mosque for their annual Eid Fair community event.

Wish us luck it's gonna be a big weekend. Couldn't be prouder already though of all my gorgeous babies and hard-working fam.

Work Available:

Need 2 people this Saturday the 13th in Gunghalin and 1 this Sunday the 14th in Monash to work doing pony rides. From 9:30am to 4pm both days. Pay is $150 cash in hand per day, lunch provided.

Really hoping to get someone with at least their own car and license for both days as my husband will otherwise be on his own managing the horses and our fantastic young workers. This is just from an over abundance of caution to cover any what if scenarios.

Doesn't need to be extremely experienced with horses as the ponies all know and do their jobs very well but some experience and no fear of horses is definitely a must.

We do walk approximately 10 to 14km over the day so comfortable shoes and sound legs are also a must.

Had a wonderful weekend at STARCC the annual adult riding club Gymkhana.

I rode Epona who just killed it with an awesome attitude and incredible strength, precision and control in her movement. I truly couldn't fault her. She has just matured so much in this last 12 months. I am one proud mumma.

It was so awesome to see them really connecting and having a blast together. I love watching my ponies have fun.

Shannon rode Juno (Epona's dam) for me as her mare Reva is still a bit sore. They did awesome together I really don't get to see Juno strut her stuff enough. She is really a top notch pony and Shannon did an awesome job with her.

Thank you Tuggeranong Adult Riding Club (TARC) for having us on your team. It was awesome to be able to help you bring home the championship after you've given us so many great friendly and fun events to attend this year.

We have landed at EQUITANA Melbourne 2022 !!!

Ponies are safe for the night. To say we've had one hell of a run getting here would be an under statement.
Between floods, floats falling to pieces, horses being injured and plans going to p**p. We weren't sure we were going to be able to pull it together.
But we are here and so excited to run our education sessions as well as have an amazing chance to join others.

I can't wait to see everyone!

Wallendbeen to Cullinga

Did you know canola fields look stunning but smell rotten... The things you learn on the trail hey🤷‍♀️.

Beautiful weather made this a lovely ride. Alanna and Ruby have taken to calling each other sisters and it's just the cutest thing ever.
Alanna is getting so confident now they're off cantering down the road every chance they get.
It was a nice quiet back road for most of this ride so Naga (my dog) and Frost (Alanna's dog) got to join us. They were so happy trotting along enjoying the sights and smells with the horses.

Next stop is Muttama which I won't be there for unfortunately. I'll have to get the crew to send me photos.

Wombat to Wallendbeen

The crew hid from the rain for a few days in the gorgeous little town of Wombat.
They were so well taken care of by the generous locals. The local Wombat Hotel kindly set them up with donations and a shower. The kept them well fed and helped collect donations and the lovely second hand shop helped them restock some gear.

The ride down the Olympic highway to Wallendbeen from Wombat was a bit tight but by now the horses couldn't care less about the big trucks cruising past and handled it like old hacks.

Wallendbeen was another lovely open little town with the Wallendbeen Hotel stopping us to offer their best wishes and a lovely donation. A local family let us use a nice paddock with so much grass the horses didn't want to leave in the morning.

What's Alanna's motivation to stay on the road riding from Cowra to Melbourne you ask?

Healesville Sanctuary. Gotta love kids all us adults are excited for EQUITANA Australia and Alanna is just to dying to get to see the wildlife.
This kids life goal is to be a wild life carer. She pulls out the most amazing animal facts. Like who knew pigeons are the only bird that produce milk... like what the hell kid.
Planning to take her to and when we get there as her big reward for being so brave and working so hard on the trip.

My 2 favourite photos from Narrandera horse trials.
Epona and Eli's and now that I come to think of it my first ever official eventing competition.

Epona competed in the 55cm and came away with a classy 4th place overall finishing on her dressage score.

Eli competed in the 65cm placing solidly in the middle of the pack which considering the size of the class I was still really happy with. We only had one dodge in the cross country and that was my fault. So used to him not needing any leg that I didn't add it when I should have.

The course out at Narrandera is to die for and the organisers were just lovely. Will definitely be getting out there again next year.

5/9/22 Murringo to Young

A cracking ride today. The kids and ponies all set a great pace with Alanna (7) and Pearl (25) taking the lead a good chunk of the way side by side with her BFF Ruby (12) with Blaze (8) and Sonic (25).

I rode Holly who has just graduated being started undersaddle. She did a great job cruising along at a trot and canter through the back roads when we could and not blinking an eye at the massive trucks when we had to ride on the Olympic highway.

Our other Graduate Eva was ridden for the first time by her owner Jen who had the time of their lives. Not a bad first ride back from the breakers hey 😉.

Young Jack did an awesome job facing his fears and getting brave enough to enjoy a nice long canter, hands in the air and all.

G'Ma Frances on Nina and Karen on Egg are the backbone of the crew getting the kids and ponies going every morning and keeping everything safe and happy on the road.

Can't forget camp mum Pa/ Brian who makes it happen getting camp set up and packed up every day a monumental effort that is thoroughly appreciated.

The family had a lovely rest day 6/9/22 after arriving at the gorgeous Young pony club and RDA grounds. The club was absolutely lovely letting the ponies use the yards and have a good rest and a big roll party in the sand.

If you're lucky you might see them today 7/9/22 riding out through Young to the next camp-site at Wombat where they will hole up for a few days to dodge the incoming storms. Today's ride was kindly sponsored by Giddy Up Saddlery in Young.

So the cats officially out of the bag. I was figuring out logistics for how to get the horses down to Equitana for my presentations, when Mum was planning her next grand horse riding adventure. How was I to say no when she offered to ride them down for me! Alanna said she was keen to join so off she has gone as well. I'll join the trail as often as I can between now and then. While Glengarry Sassy gets the best top off training to compliment her start undersaddle I could possibly hope for. We had a huge weekend enjoying the TARC open show on the Sunday and a big trail ride through the Arboretum on the Saturday. I have a few photos, videos and anecdotes to share but figured I'd start with this nerve wrecking bridge crossing. The water was way lower and safer when we left but real borderline on the way home. I was prepped to go around when Frost, Alanna's dog headed across before I had a chance to call ger back. I nearly panicked and called her but realised it would be much less safe to distract her and make her come back when she was half way across already so just gritted my teeth and hoped for the best. When she made it safely as the smallest member of the pack we decided the horses should be okay. Alanna wouldn't have a bar of anyone else taking the lead as her pony was the most experienced river crosser and showed us how it was done without hesitation. Sing Song and Reva's first outing. A bit of a trip down memory lane for me as we explored some of the trails around Parkwood horse paddocks in Canberra. I was super happy with how the girls handled themselves taking all the new stimuli in their stride. They had a couple of moments of "are you sure about this?" Especially with the scary narrow bridge that made creaking noises when we crossed it. Even so with just a bit of reassurance and a "yes, I'm sure" they were good to give it a go. Alanna came up with a new way to help me desensitize the client horses. The Lovely Yuma is here to be started under saddle totally bitless. She is just 20 sessions in and really getting the hang of this riding malarkey.

First dressage test in 20 years 😬

I did a thing today! One of the mini goals I had set for myself this year was to work through the fear and self doubt of putting myself out there to be judged and start competing in the Olympic horse sports, ie dressage, show jumping and eventing. The goal is to have a proper crack at these disciplines without being able to hide behind the excuses of "I did great despite my horses being green." Or "That was amazing for a horse that used to be to badly damaged." Those moments are awesome and rewarding but I want to step beyond that and be able to say "That was just plain awesome no qualifiers required." So here it is the first official dressage test I have done in at least 2 decades. 😬 No excuses available, I'm riding Juno my gorgeous, home bred, grand daughter to Pearl. She's 9yrs old and all her flaws are mine one way or another. Join us in the comments to have a giggle at my plaiting efforts.

Playing with Ulla and Alanna

It's always a nerve wrecking process preparing a horse for their new home. The lovely Ulla has been with us for at least 18 months now and watching her grow and mature from a barely handled and frightened 3yr old to now ready to start her new life with all our love and hope behind her.
