My wait is over! They arrived šŸ¤©šŸ¤©
Absolutely love my rugs made by Kim Barnes Custom Rugs! They always fit Enzo while allowing him to grow into them a bit! This is our paddock rug, a white cotton drill with our show colours as binding šŸ˜œ the elastic throat and d rings for his hood attachment placed further back, makes it much easier to keep his hoods on when he likes to let his friends play with other ones! Cannot wait to have his show sets back from getting our logo put on them šŸ¤©

A few people have asked me;
ā€œhow did ā€˜Mischief Parkā€™ come about?ā€
Itā€™s a bit of a long story, but one that makes me so proud. So get comfy, itā€™s a bit of a read!

I have loved horses for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is when I was still a very young girl when I met a racehorse for the first time. The lady even let me give the horse a pat and all. I vaguely remember having an ice cream in a cup too that day.
It was there and then I got the horse bug bite and it never left me. I remember at 12 years old I wanted to do horse riding lessons and I love it. Good ole Jack from the riding school was my most exciting being to see every fortnight. But I also enjoyed playing basketball and I had to make a choice. Horses or basketball. I chose to keep playing basketball. I was never going to afford a horse anyway was my concluding argument to myself. I played and lived basketball for the best few years until I really felt I was missing something. Horsesā€¦ I was still extremely interested in them even though I didnā€™t have anything to do with them. I wasnā€™t the perfect teenager but I tried my best to evolve. I took on some TAFE studies to get more knowledge on things I wanted. Dog/cat behaviour and of course, learning management in horse husbandry. I probably didnā€™t deserve it but around my 17th birthday in 2011 I obtained Larry. A bit of a broken down nag that just needed something to shine again. He was a 15.1hh thoroughbred with a lot of spice. Now when I say that he was a gentle soul but he could sure turn the fire up like a Bunsen burner in a science class. I made all my rookie mistakes with Larry but he sure did teach me how to REALLY ride. But he also taught me how to listen, be paitent and lose my anger streak I had. I finally felt like I appreciated what I had been given in life and to also respect myself. Larry gave me a lot of life lessons and I owe him tremendously. I found Larryā€™s race name eventually and competed him under it; Into Mischief. He didnā€™t have a very good record but at some point in his life he was extremely loved in his racing career.
I have a whole part of my life filled with memories of Larry. Good, bad and ugly but oh so worth it all.
I lost Larry in 2019 at 17 years old. He didnā€™t quite reach 18. His legs were old and his quality of life had gone. There was nothing more I could really do for my fat happy paddock bum. From then on I always wanted to keep him apart of my world but I didnā€™t really know how until I came up with the idea of ā€œMischief Parkā€ it was in my mind and stayed there. Hadnā€™t really thought much more of that.
I had horses after Larry, including ones I had owned and bred while my old mate enjoyed retirement but I could just not click with them. I had always wanted to own a purebred Friesian since a little girl, a fairytale horse but I really didnā€™t have the money for one so I kept dreaming on. Fast forward to 2021. A paint mare in foal to a friesian stallion. I knew both horses very well and I also knew the mares older foal who is a full sibling to the one she was carrying. I couldnā€™t fault any of them. I adored all 3. And then January 8th 2022, Enzo was born. I had never been so more in love with a horse since Larry. Enzo got named by a family friend, an ā€˜unrelated brotherā€™ to my partner. Vonćenzo.
I wanted to get into archery and jousting with Enzo. In no way did I think I could take that shaggy little fluffball into a show ring and even attempt to win anything. At roughly 7 months old Enzo had hurt himself badly on his back leg and I thought our partnership was about to be cut short. It was a bit hit and miss with a possible outcome but with the help of some dear friends Enzo made a complete recovery.
I started thinking a bit more about the whole Mischief Park thing and decided on Lime and Black as our colours. I got a browband sorted, and thought hmmm maybe this little duckling can have some outings just to get used to the world. I hadnā€™t really given hacking or showing a thought.
2023 rolled around, Enzo had turned into a beautiful yearling and all seemed great, perfect. And then that one day in February I got a call from my partner, a call I donā€™t wish on anyone to ever receive. My partner and his best mate, the same mate who named Enzo went out for a bike cruise. But only my partner would return. It was a bit of a blur there for a while. Holding some of my favourite people together, continuing to parent and just trying to put one foot in front of the other really. It was a very painful time.
I kept putting time and effort into Enzo over the next few weeks when one day I asked my partner, ā€œwhat was Alvinā€™s favourite colour?ā€ Iā€™m not a car or bike girl, soley horses, but I wanted to have a way of always carrying him with me on my achievements. Alex(my partner) had responded to me with Purple, but a Cadbury like purple. So I went to my wonderful friend and coach with ā€œI want to take Enzo to Hawkesbury Show. I donā€™t want to waste your time, and I donā€™t really know how to prep a horse to perfection but it was the last thing we all did as a family last year. And I want Enzo to wear purple.ā€ And without skipping a beat Aimee took us on and turned my little fluffball destined for the jousting ring to his first hack show looking a million dollars.
Donā€™t ask me to explain it because I canā€™t but as soon as Enzo had his purple on he changed. He stood proud, he stretched himself out, and he just had a look at me presence about him. And he hasnā€™t stopped. Everytime he goes out I believe he has someone whispering in his ear.
We do this all out of love and dedication. To me, my ā€œMischief Parkā€ has purpose now, Iā€™m extremely proud to look at it and carry it. I carry my everywhere too

So thatā€™s where my name came from, my 2 favourite boys, one above and one here right now, and a fallen soldier we carry in the form of purple šŸ’œ

The knowledge and effort put in on my end to become a great horsewoman didnā€™t come easy and I still have plenty more to learn.

Iā€™m the only horse mad person in my family.

I started horses when I was 12 and seriously owned them from 17.
Thatā€™s almost 17 years being around horses and almost 12 years of owning them.

All for that 1% to own my ā€œcolourful medieval warhorseā€ dream. Who was only born 18 months ago.

No dream is too hard. It only becomes out of reach when you stop wanting it.
