The Agricultural Show Council of Tasmania operates as the parent body of its twenty-three (23) affiliated members – primarily show societies operating throughout the State of Tasmania – to provide them with an avenue to raise and address issues of common interest and of material or financial benefit to any of those affiliated member organisations. Although each affiliated member organisation is re

sponsible for the organisation and staging of the annual shows/events, initial contact details for each individual affiliated organisation can be obtained from this very informative website. All affiliated member organisations have a principal interest in the promotion of the diverse Tasmania agricultural industry – through the featuring of beef and dairy cattle, horses, sheep and poultry exhibits, whilst many feature alpacas, goats, pigeons and pigs where appropriate and based on local support. Most organisation’s are now featuring animal nurseries that provide the younger patrons with a “feel” for baby lambs, calves, chickens, pups, foals etc. Pavilion exhibits receive excellent community support through entries being received featuring horticultural displays, cookery, needlework, photography and many other facets of locally produced craft. Most Tasmanian agricultural shows conduct various classes of wood chopping through the ongoing support of numerous axe men and women of varying ages. The Showman’s Guild of Tasmania membership supports many of the annual events conducted as part of the Tasmanian Show Calendar through the placement of side show rides and other activities.

Country shows are about more than rides and show bags. Many say they are a lifeline for farmers and regional communities doing it tough.
