📢⚠️Join the fight: A Call for Support ⚠️📢

In a world increasingly characterized by uncertainty and environmental degradation, the plight of wildlife is becoming more dire. Recently, a multi-million dollar corporation, once hailed for its commitment to sustainability, has found itself unable to meet the rising demands for wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. This failure has placed an immense burden on volunteer wildlife carers, who are already stretched thin as they strive to protect and nurture our planet's vulnerable species.

As human activities continue to encroach upon natural habitats, the number of injured and orphaned animals is escalating. Volunteer wildlife carers, often working tirelessly without any financial compensation, are stepping up to fill the gaps left by these corporations. However, as the pressures mount, many find themselves pushed beyond their limits. The emotional and physical toll of caring for these animals, coupled with the lack of adequate resources and funding, is creating a perfect storm that threatens the very existence of many species.

The situation is further exacerbated by the ongoing destruction of habitats caused by urban development, climate change, and pollution. These factors not only harm wildlife but also create a ripple effect that impacts ecosystems and communities alike. The need for robust support systems and increased funding for wildlife care and conservation initiatives is more pressing than ever.

The wildlife carers are on the frontline in this battle for survival, often working in isolation without the backing of larger organizations. Their dedication and passion for wildlife conservation deserve recognition and support. It is crucial for corporations, governments, and individuals to come together and provide the necessary resources to bolster these efforts.

We must advocate for increased funding, awareness, and collaboration to address the challenges faced by wildlife carers. It's time to recognize that the survival of our planet's wildlife is not only a moral imperative but also essential for maintaining the health of our ecosystems.

As we continue to witness the destruction of nature, let us not forget the individuals working tirelessly to protect it. Together, we can create a future where wildlife care is adequately supported, ensuring that both our planet and its creatures can thrive for generations to come.

Everybody can do something!"

The Unseen Struggles of Wildlife Volunteering: A Call for Compassion

Ultimately, I shouldn’t need to explain my choices. While many of you have been supportive, there are still quite a few who are not, mainly due to a lack of understanding and awareness. So, let me clarify things on behalf of myself and other caregivers in similar circumstances.

Volunteering in wildlife rehabilitation is a noble pursuit, driven by love and compassion for our planet’s most vulnerable creatures. It’s a calling that requires dedication, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of the animals we serve. However, it is not a job for the faint-hearted. The emotional and physical toll can be immense, and the challenges often go unnoticed by those outside the experience.

Every day, we pour our hearts into caring for injured and orphaned wildlife, providing them with a safe haven and the chance to heal. Our work is fueled by a deep love for these animals and a desire to protect them from harm. Yet, this passion often comes with unexpected trials, including criticism and backlash from those who may not understand the complexities of wildlife care.

Yesterday, I made the difficult decision to stop intakes temporarily. This was not a choice made lightly; it stemmed from an overwhelming influx of animals needing our assistance. As a carer, I want to give each creature the attention and care it deserves, but the reality is that resources are limited. I faced backlash for this decision, with some expressing anger and disappointment. It’s disheartening to receive abuse for trying to do what I believe is best for the animals in my care.

What many don’t see is the reality behind the scenes. I am not taking a break; rather, I find myself inundated with responsibilities and confined within my home, trying to manage the care of the animals already in my care. The emotional stress is compounded by the feeling of being trapped in a situation where every decision feels scrutinized. This is a labor of love, but it can also feel like a prison when the weight of expectations becomes too heavy to bear.

I want to emphasize that the work we do is not merely a task; it’s a commitment to compassion that extends beyond the animals to our fellow humans. We are all part of a larger ecosystem, and understanding this interconnectedness can foster empathy and support rather than criticism. As we navigate the challenges of wildlife rehabilitation, it’s vital to remember that we are doing our best with the resources we have.

Ultimately, the goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for wildlife, and this requires patience, understanding, and community support. Let’s choose compassion over criticism, and work together to ensure that our wildlife continues to thrive in a world that often feels chaotic. The journey may be tough, but the rewards of seeing an animal heal and return to its natural habitat are immeasurable.

Many believe that I’m stepping away, but there’s no escape for me. This is my passion and my lifeblood. I will continue to advocate for and save lives until my very last breath.

📢⚠️Important Announcement: Temporary Suspension of Animal Rescues and Intakes⚠️📢

Dear friends and supporters,

I want to take a moment to share a difficult decision I’ve had to make regarding our rescue efforts. After much contemplation and with a heavy heart, I have decided we have reached maximum capacity and, as a result, will be shutting down all rescues and intakes for the remainder of the year. This choice has not come easily and has been a source of significant stress for me.

My commitment to the well-being of the animals in my care is unwavering, and I believe it would be irresponsible to accept more animals when I cannot guarantee them the attention and care they deserve. This year alone, we have rescued thousands, averaging over 100 rescues each month. The toll this has taken has been immense—financially, physically, and mentally.

Additionally, the amazing carers I collaborate with are also at their limits, stretched thin while trying to meet the needs of so many animals. It has undoubtedly been a challenging year, with countless creatures in desperate need of assistance.

If you come across an animal in need during this time, I urge you to consider taking them to your local vet, contacting Wildlife Rescue Australia 1300596457, Wildcare Australia Inc 5527 2444 or taking to the RSPCA.

I sincerely hope you can understand the necessity of this temporary pause. It is a crucial step to ensure that we can continue to provide the best possible care to the animals already in our sanctuary.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or if you need advice. Your support means the world to me and the animals we all care so deeply about.

Thank you for your understanding.

Peace, love and light ✌️💛✨️

Hey everyone,

Right now, we are in the thick of trauma season, and as much as we want to help every single one of you, the reality is that we are absolutely flat out. The recent storms have created a challenging environment for all of us, and it feels like baby birds are literally raining from the skies. With so many animals in need, our pick-ups are becoming harder and harder to manage.

As carers, we are pouring our hearts and souls into our work, often putting in long hours to ensure that every creature gets the care they deserve. However, it's disheartening to hear accusations of us not caring or being called useless when we can't drop everything to drive 10-20 minutes or more to you. Remember, we are all in this together, and it’s important to recognize that we’re doing our absolute best in extremely challenging circumstances.

I shouldn’t have to remind everyone of this, and unfortunately, this isn’t the first time I've had to speak up. We’re all trying to juggle a lot, and it’s crucial to show consideration for one another. Please help us help you by understanding our limitations and the pressures we face.

Thank you for your support and your empathy. Let’s work together to navigate this tough season with kindness and respect.

💬 We need transport volunteers - to collect contained animals and deliver them to carers around Ipswich. If you are interested in helping out, please get in contact.

Animals have an incredible capacity for love and loyalty that often surpasses our expectations. Their devotion to their owners is a profound testament to the bond that can exist between species. Whether it's a dog waiting by the door for its owner to return, a cat curling up on a lap, or an intellectual moment with a bird - these gestures of affection speak volumes about their unwavering loyalty.

Many pet owners can attest that the love they receive from their animals is unlike any other, filled with pure, unconditional support and companionship. This devotion not only enriches our lives but also teaches us invaluable lessons about love, patience, and trust. In a world filled with complexity, the simple, genuine love of an animal reminds us that there is no greater love than that shared between a pet and its owner.

This is your reminder to appreciate your pets ✌️💛✨️

Oh, hello November!

You’ve caught me off guard! I had grand plans for yesterday, but time is always my greatest rival, especially with so many little ones in my care. I’m feeling pretty exhausted.

But enough about that—let’s get down to business! It’s LPS Season from November to February! For those who aren’t still traumatised from last season, let me give you a quick overview.

LPS stands for Lorikeet Paralysis Syndrome, a neurological condition that affects our vibrant lorikeets. This syndrome causes sudden weakness or paralysis, mainly in their legs, making it difficult for them to perch and move around normally. While the exact cause remains a mystery, it’s thought to be linked to nutritional deficiencies, particularly a lack of vitamin B12, or exposure to toxins. Affected birds often show signs of lethargy and struggle to maintain their balance. Early diagnosis and proper care can make all the difference, so raising awareness about LPS is crucial—it can literally mean the difference between life and death for these birds.

Earlier this year, I was devastated to see lorikeets literally falling from the skies in Ipswich. Witnessing so many in need, I embarked on a solo mission to rescue them, walking kilometers each day to collect suffering lorikeets.

As the number of birds I rescued quickly grew, my friend Bec Smith and her partner Scott joined the cause. Bec’s efforts to spread the word were incredibly successful, bringing more people on board to help. We saw an influx of 60-80 intakes a day, with phone calls coming in every 10-20 minutes. Inspired by the community support, I opened my home and resources to these beautiful creatures.

I created this page, and many wonderful volunteers stepped forward. Donations poured in, and for weeks on end, I poured all my time and energy into caring for every lorikeet that came through my doors. Together, as a community, we managed to rescue over 1,000 lorikeets! Although we faced opposition from some who wanted to shut us down, we weathered the storms together and came out victorious, saving hundreds of lives and releasing them back into their natural habitat.

This experience has opened my eyes, and it’s clear that more people are becoming aware of LPS, which has been a concern for over a decade. Since then, I’ve been brainstorming ways to enhance our efforts from February and be better prepared for the upcoming season.

As the lorikeets begin to arrive again, I’m excited to announce the launch of the Ipswich Wild Animal Rescue Collective (IWARC)! This new initiative is a collaboration of carers, rescuers, and vets in the Ipswich area, all dedicated to supporting our wildlife.

If you’re in the Ipswich area, passionate about animals, and want to get involved, please reach out! Together, we can make a difference!

Once upon a time, in the heart of a sun-dappled Australian bush, there was a cozy nest snugly built on a sturdy branch. It was my home, a place where I, a tiny tawny frogmouth baby, would huddle close to my siblings, listening to the soft cooing of our parents nearby. Our days were filled with warmth and the gentle sway of the branch beneath us as the world buzzed with life.

One sunny morning, as I p*ered out from our nest, I spotted a shadow gliding above. My heart raced; it was a buzzard! I had heard tales of these magnificent but fearsome birds. Before I could blink, the buzzard swooped down, its talons grasping me tightly. Panic surged through me. I squawked in surprise, flapping my tiny wings, but I was no match for the strength of the buzzard.

As it ascended, I could see the treetops sprawling beneath me, a tapestry of greens and browns. My siblings were mere specks, and I could hear their frantic chirps growing fainter. Just then, a raucous chorus erupted from the trees. Noisy minors! They were my brave, feathered friends, known for their courage and their loud, persistent cries. They spotted the buzzard and swooped in, diving at it with relentless determination.

The commotion grew louder, a cacophony of chirps and flaps. The buzzard, startled by the gang of minor birds, faltered in its flight. Suddenly, I felt myself tumbling through the air! With a thud, I landed softly on the ground, right in front of a lady who was enjoying a peaceful cup of tea with her dog.

The lady gasped, her eyes wide with surprise, and her dog, a curious little creature, sniffed at me with wonder. I blinked up at them, slightly dazed but unharmed. The noise of the minors faded as they celebrated their victory, chasing the buzzard away into the distance.

The lady leaned down, her gentle fingers brushing my feathers. I felt a mix of fear and curiosity. Her dog wagged its tail, offering a friendly greeting.

For a moment, I was no longer just a baby bird who had been snatched away from my nest. I was a tiny miracle, a creature of the bush, and I had a new story to tell. The lady carefully scooped me up, with the dog watching closely. She contacted a wildlife carer. I now have a new temporary mum who looks after me.

Happy Halloween!
I've been so busy that I lost track of time. I didnt know what day it is. I only just realised today is day 1 of my 3 favourite days of the year.

It is part of the three-day triduum dedicated to remembering the dead, beginning with Halloween (October 31) and followed by All Saints' Day (November 1) and All Souls' Day (November 2).

Halloween, celebrated on October 31st, is a time for costumes, candy, and spooky fun. All Saints’ Day honors the lives of saints and martyrs, celebrating their contributions to faith, while All Souls’ Day is a time to remember and pray for the souls of loved ones who have passed away.

Together, these days create a beautiful blend of festive celebration and heartfelt remembrance, reminding us of the connection between life and the afterlife.

💀☠️🖤🖤🖤🥀💀🥀🖤🖤🖤☠️💀

P.S Im currently confined to my animal room for a endless cycle of feeds and cleans for the foreseeable future. If my body goes missing - its because I've passed out and the birds have eaten me.

☆ SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION ☆

Following on from my last post, I want to thank all the people who reached out to me today for help, updates and advice. Together we managed to pull off several successful collaborations and saved lives.

One collaboration I want to highlight from today was with Laura Louise

Laura, a passionate animal lover, was out at a park when she stumbled upon a distressing scene. A baby ringtail possum lay helplessly on the side of the road, surrounded by a flock of crows intent on making it their next meal.

Without a second thought, Laura scooped up the tiny creature, her heart racing as she spotted a nearby tree. Perched high above, a mother possum watched anxiously, her eyes wide with concern. Laura knew she had to act quickly and decided to reach out for advice.

I was fortunately able to respond promptly, advising Laura that the best course of action was to reunite the baby with its mother, especially since she was still in the area. However, with the crows still circling, it was vital to wait until nightfall, when the danger would diminish. As I was unable to get there, Laura was more then happy to keep the baby safe, and attempt the reunite herself.

On dark, Laura and her partner returned to the spot where they had found the baby possum. To their relief, the mother was still perched in the same tree, patiently waiting for her little one. With a ladder in hand, Laura's partner climbed cautiously, ensuring not to disturb the mother possum.

Finally reaching the right height, he gently placed the baby possum on a sturdy branch. Time seemed to stand still as they watched the tiny creature hesitate for a moment, before scurrying straight into its mother’s embrace. A chorus of soft chirps filled the air, a joyful reunion.

Laura and her partner played a pivotal role in saving a life today. Our successful collaboration, fueled by a simple act of kindness and the willingness to seek help, had made all the difference.

Together, have not only saved a baby possum but had also reinforced the importance of community and teamwork. Every small act of collaboration could lead to monumental outcomes.

Thank you Laura for saving this baby possum, and returning to its mumma. Your efforts have made the world a little brighter for this little possum.

Let's Talk About the Cost of Silence: Why I Wish People Would Ask

In a world where communication is key, it's disheartening to hear people say, "I don’t want to bother you." I have been hearing this almost daily lately. This sentiment, while well-intentioned, can have serious consequences—especially when it comes to the welfare of animals in need.

Every day, countless animals are waiting for help, whether it’s a simple question about a rescue, a plea for fostering, or an inquiry about adoption. When people hesitate to reach out, thinking they might be imposing or bothering me, the cost can be tragic. Each moment spent in silence can mean a life left in limbo, a chance for companionship lost, or a rescue that goes unfulfilled.

I want to encourage everyone to break that barrier and feel empowered to ask questions or seek guidance. Your inquiries are not a bother; they’re opportunities for connection, learning, and, most importantly, saving lives.

Let’s shift the narrative from one of hesitation to one of collaboration. I would much rather be “bothered” with questions than to see animals suffer because someone felt they shouldn't ask. Together, we can work to create a community that prioritizes the welfare of all living beings. So, don’t hold back—ask away! Your curiosity could make all the difference in the world.

Remember, every question asked is a step toward compassion, and every inquiry can lead to a life saved. Let's be the voices for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Due to a unfortunate series of events, I won't be able to drive for the next two weeks. However, I can still take on rescues if they can be delivered to me. You can reach me by message or phone if you need assistance.

If anyone is available to help transport animals during this period, please feel free to message me. Thank you!

📷: Do you remember Dexter the possum? Dexter has been fighting for his life after being passed around like a toy by members of the public and being fed the wrong foods. Thankfully, he is now thriving and has reached a healthy weight. He is currently in a cage with a roommate, enjoying his new lease on life!

Celebrating World Kangaroo Day: A Leap Toward Conservation

Every year on the 24th of June, we celebrate World Kangaroo Day, a special occasion dedicated to raising awareness about the unique and remarkable kangaroo, a symbol of Australia’s rich wildlife. This day not only honors these iconic marsupials but also emphasizes the importance of conservation efforts to protect their natural habitats.

Kangaroos are fascinating creatures, known for their powerful hind legs, large feet, and distinctive tails that help them balance while hopping at impressive sp*eds. They are social animals, often found in groups called mobs, and are integral to the Australian ecosystem. Their grazing habits help maintain the health of grasslands, making them crucial for the biodiversity of their environment.

Unfortunately, kangaroos face numerous threats, including habitat loss due to urban development, climate change, and hunting. As their natural habitats shrink, these animals struggle to find food and shelter, which can lead to population declines.

World Kangaroo Day serves as a reminder of the need for sustainable practices and wildlife protection. It encourages individuals and communities to take action, whether through supporting conservation organizations, participating in local clean-up efforts, or educating others about the significance of preserving kangaroo populations and their habitats.

This year, consider taking part in activities that promote awareness, such as visiting wildlife sanctuaries, attending educational seminars, or even sharing information on social media platforms. Every small action can contribute to a larger movement towards conservation.

As we celebrate World Kangaroo Day, let us remember the kangaroo not only as a national symbol of Australia but also as a reminder of our responsibility to protect the wildlife that shares our planet. Together, we can ensure that future generations will also have the opportunity to witness the beauty and grace of these incredible animals in the wild.
