Two weeks ago, Doctor Jane Gibb travelled to the Gili islands in Indonesia, through Vets Beyond Borders and volunteered for multiple charities including LUNI Lombok Indonesia and Horses of Gili. Luni Lombok offers veterinary care and food to the stray cat population and wildlife located across the Gili Islands, while Horses of Gili aims to treat horses in need and runs an equine-based sanctuary. We are extremely proud of Jane’s contribution to safeguarding the welfare of animals across the Gilli Islands and incredibly thankful for the work that Vets Beyond Borders, Luni Lombok and Horses of Gili provide. ❤️ 🐾 If you are interested in learning more about these wonderful organisations or donating, visit our Linktree.

Hello hoomans, my name is Bitsy and I’m an adventurous girl who has seen a lot in her 8 weeks on this planet. I love pats and snuggles, especially a good shoulder to lie on and I will purr contently 😻 I can be a bit reserved but becoming more adventurous and might enjoy a feline companion to spend my days with (little children might be a bit too scary for me). I have had my first vaccination and am microchipped. April is Pet First Aid Awareness month and as a pet parent, you need to be prepared in case your animal needs emergency assistance. Having a first aid kit at home is handy and should contain as a minimum:

⛑️ Phone numbers for your local vet and closest emergency centre ⛑️ A copy of your pet’s medical records including an my medications that your pet is receiving
⛑️A digital thermometer to take your pets temperature
⛑️ A muzzle to prevent bites (don’t muzzle your pet if they are vomiting)
⛑️ A bottle of sterile saline for flushing eyes or wounds
⛑️ Gauze roll for wrapping wounds
⛑️ Self-adhering, non-stick tape for bandages

In case of an emergency, call your local vet or emergency hospital so they can be ready when you arrive. First aid is not a substitute for veterinary care but it may save your pet’s life until you can take them to the vet. To learn more about pet first aid, visit the Australia Vet Association website.
