Advance Dog "Food" has released a dry "food" for 𝗢𝗢𝗗𝗟𝗘𝗦
Ooddles can be anything with Poodle in it and a one fit approach to their nutrition just because they're "Oodles" is comical, it is also a very obvious and embarrassing 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝘄.
Let's have a look at what's inside! We're going to look at the top 5 ingredients as they're the most predominant.
𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗹
If you think this is a juicy piece of Salmon, think again. Salmon meal is made from By-product i.e. the head, spine, and tail of the fish after it has been stripped for human consumption. But wait, there's more...a few years ago we would out that kibble manufacturers were buying Salmon meal cut with potato starch 1:3(5) - so Salmon Meal doesn't mean anything too special.
𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲
I guess we have to be thankful it wasn't corn and there's probably a good reason for that after Advance's Dermocare range killed and medically harmed 100's of dogs(4) just a few short years ago - they ended up removing their corn after that, it has been theorised that it may have been affected by mycotoxins from mold that is problematic with the storage of grains such as Corn.
So is White Rice ok? We don't think so. To begin with, it's an inappropriate ingredient for a dog's diet. Secondly, researchers at the University of Helsinki released a study(3) regarding arsenic exposure to dogs consuming food containing rice (high on the ingredient list) - no thank you.
𝗦𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗵𝘂𝗺
Gah, another cheap grain, at least this one has a decent amount of nutrients in it, but you won't find the inclusion of this cheap grain brings down the price of the bag.
𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿
Sneaky, sneaky Advance! This is called ingredient splitting - what they have done is separated the rice and the rice flour as ingredients - they're the same thing. Why they do this is because if you added the Rice + Rice flour together it would be higher on the ingredient list, in this case, it may have even taken the #1 spot.
𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝘁
The #5 ingredient is the best thing in the top 5 - chicken fat is a great source of fat but you can bet it comes from factory-farmed chickens with residual amounts of anti-biotics in the tissue.(1)(2)
🥺 39% carbs approximately aka sugar - how bloody sad. This also goes to show you that this is likely a mostly vegetarian kibble meaning there is highly likely more plant in this "food" than animal protein.
