Four dogs have died from canine leptospirosis, with two confirmed in the Southern Highlands and Shoalhaven.

The serious bacterial disease is spread by rats and contaminated water and can cause liver and kidney failure.

Some of the symptoms include vomiting or diarrhea and lethargy.

Dog owners in the Southern Highlands and South coast are being urged to have their pets vaccinated and to avoid letting them drink or swim in stagnant water.

🚨 SUPER URGENT FOSTER CARER NEEDED!

Dorito is an energetic and playful 6 month old puppy, eagerly learning to be the perfect companion! He’s foster carer needs to take an unexpected trip overseas and we have only two days to find a new foster for Dorito!

- Dorito is dog friendly but not tested with cats.
- Very much still a silly, goofy puppy learning how to be the ultimate good boy!
- Needs someone home more often than not.
- Daily exercise and enrichment
- Live in Sydney
- Kids 10 and up are best.
