💘 Tips to make bathing at home more enjoyable.💘

🛁 Don’t submerge your pets into a tub of water - they don’t like it!
They’re not like us, and they don’t find floating in water relaxing. Instead, find a shower nozzle/attachment that you can use in your bath tub or laundry sink and wet them down that way. You’re not only ensuring a better wash, but they’re not sitting in their own dirty water, you can fully rinse all the product off, and there is less chance of water splashing everywhere.

🛁 Find a shampoo that you can dilute and dilute them in an old sauce bottle (or you know, a proper dilution bottle 😆).
You’ll be saving product and have a much more effective clean if you use diluted shampoo because you can aim it in all the spots that need the most cleaning - faces and feet!

🛁 Make sure you’re getting at least two full body scrubs for maximum cleanliness and use an exfoliating glove for an extra “sudsy” effect!
This will help move the bubbles around and clean down to the skin better. Use this time to massage your dog and have a feel of them to feel any lumps, bumps or skin issues. This part is also the best part for bonding. Who doesn’t love a full body massage?!

🛁 Ensure your pet is fully rinsed off and CONDITION.
Always condition. For the same reasons we use conditioner - closing the hair follicle back up to prevent damage, and for adding moisture back in to the skin.

We always recommend blow drying after a bath, especially if they have a thick coat. Damp skin can lead to bacterial infections.

Bathing can be done as often as you like as long as you’re using the right products. You won’t bu**er the skin and coat by using correct products and techniques - leaving the coat and skin unmaintained for long periods of time will cause more damage.

If your dog isn't this relaxed when you're brushing, it might be time to find some new techniques or come in for a chat so we can get you on the right path.

Brushing and combing should be a bonding experience between you and your pets. Of course, puppies don't like it to begin with, but if you start off small, gently and consistently, they'll learn to trust you and they'll learn to enjoy it.

A couple of hot tips if you're new to brushing at home:

⚡️Get the RIGHT tools - and throw out that damn de-matter. Cutting coat damages coat!
Long-coated dogs, you need a slicker brush and a comb!
Short-coated dogs, you need a Refuresh de-shedding brush!

⚡️Find a spot to brush your dog use that same spot every day! Your dogs are clever and they LOVE routine.
I always recommend a bench, a table, a washing machine (whatever works for you and the dog/size), but generally somewhere UP off the floor.

⚡️If you've let your dog get matted, don't try and brush it out - it won't work and if you're always brushing them knotty or matted, you're teaching them that brushing
hurts.. Instead, book them in for a groom, and start again at home while they are short and BEFORE there are any knots. Reinforce brushing as a good thing by being gentle, and patient and rewarding them for being the goodest boy or girl everrrr!

We recommend doing this once or twice a week, depending on coat length & always on a clean & dry coat.
