๐ŸŒž๐Ÿพ Hot Weather Alert: Protect Your Pets! ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒž

As temperatures rise, it's important to keep your furry friends safe in the heat! While cats and dogs love spending time outside, high heat can lead to serious health issues like heatstroke and dehydration. Here's what you can do to help them stay cool:

Avoid peak heat: Limit outdoor time during the hottest parts of the day (usually 10 AM - 4 PM).

Provide shade and water: Always have fresh, cool water available, and ensure they have access to a shaded area if they're outside.

Walks at cooler times: Opt for early morning or evening walks to prevent burned paws and overheating. If you can't stand bare foot on the path for 5-10seconds then it is too HOT for your pets.

Limit high energy games that require exertion ie no repetitive games like ball throwing in the heat

Watch for signs of distress: Heavy panting, drooling, or lethargy can be signs your pet is struggling in the heat.

Keep your pets comfortable and safe this summer by staying mindful of the temperature! If you're concerned about your pet's health in the heat, don't hesitate to reach out. ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Friendly reminder that our out of hours has changed, here is a recap

We still have OUR vets on call, and we have teamed up with Vet Triage who are able to provide video and telephone consultations with their vets when our on-call vets cannot get straight to the phone, or for non-urgent consultations.

They will triage URGENT EMERGENCY CALLS for us and they will coordinate with OUR on-call vet who can see you at the clinic out of hours.

Out of hours phone number โ€“ 5422 6909 or follow the link: www.vettriage.com/mcintyre

Please make sure you only follow the link on our website www.vettriage.com/mcintyre to make sure you get through to the correct Vet Triage.

There is a small fee if you have a video consultation, for those situations when you need some advice to help put your mind at ease.

This is a new partnership, and we are working together to make sure this is positive move to help you speak directly to someone when needed and be seen when urgent care is required, and to give our amazing team of vets some back up when things are very busy and they cannot answer the call straight away because they are dealing with an emergency.

Have a safe and Merry Christmas!

This is the meta description.

Farewell to our lovely Sarah!
We are sorry to advise that our Dr Sarah who came to our clinic as a new graduate in December 2021 has decided to take a new employment opportunity in the government sector.

Sarah has been an intelligent, hard-working, committed and caring veterinarian who has brought her own brand of joy to the practice.
We would like to thank her for her dedication and commitment over the last three years.

Your cheery approach to life and its challenges, knowledge and kindness are some of the things we are going to miss, you built up strong relationships within the team and with clients.

You will be missed! We all hope your new chapter will bring you joy and fulfilment and wish you every happiness and success.
Thank you for the memories and all your hard work!

We are excited to advise that as of tonight we are implementing a change to the way in which we will be providing our after-hours emergency services in an attempt to provide a more efficient and effective service for our clients.

For after-hours emergency service we have partnered with VetTriage to offer video telehealth services. You can still call our normal after hours number 5422 6909 or click the link to be connected to VetTriage www.VetTriage.com/mcintyre

The VetTriage veterinarians are available 24/7 and will assess your pet on a live video chat for a small fee to determine if your pet requires immediate emergency care, or simple monitoring at home until we reopen.

In the event of an emergency, they will triage your animal and give you at-home care guidance, or if they determine hospital care is necessary, coordinate your visit with the on-call veterinarian.

The Kyneton Show is back! Friday 15th & Saturday 16th November.

While we all love the great things to see and do at the show, the noise and especially the fireworks can cause stress and anxiety for our pets.
In some severe cases some animals may even hurt themselves trying to "escape" from what they believe is a threat.
Here's some helpful tips below or give us a call on 5422-1310.

๐Ÿ We are coming in to snake bite season! What you should look out for/know when it comes to your pet and keeping them safe๐Ÿ

โ–ช๏ธ Symptoms: Cats and dogs react differently when it comes to a snake bite. Please see below our table of symptoms.
Cats can take a longer time to show symptoms. Signs and symptoms to look for are lethargy, has collapse, trouble breathing/panting, dilated pupils, ataxia (wobbly/weak on our legs), paralysis, salivating/vomiting, brown/red urine, if you notice these symptoms or see your animal with a snake please call the closest clinic to you and start heading there straight away.

โ–ช๏ธKeep Calm: Try not to let your pet move around too much, call and make your way to the CLOSEST vet clinic.

โ–ช๏ธSnakes: We donโ€™t need to know the type of snake, so please donโ€™t try to catch or harm the snake. The snake will be frightened and may be very reactive and quick to defend itself.
We use one type of antivenom for all snake bites.

Please be aware that the baby snakes are as venomous as the large ones! So if you do see one around, keep your pets far away!
If you have a snake close to your home and need it to be removed safely please call a reputable snake catcher such as:
Manfred from Five Freedoms animal rescue โ€“ 0438 681 501
https://fivefreedoms.com.au/snake-catching

โ–ช๏ธPrevent Bites: Keep your yard tidy, grass short around your home. Watch your pets outside, especially in the warmer weather and when walking your animals keep them on lead.

Quick action can save your pet! If you have questions or concerns, call us on 5422 1310 or for after hours emergencies call us on 5422 6909, if we are busy attending another call please call closest emergency centre to you.
Stay safe this spring/summer! ๐ŸŒž
