These two beautiful swans were line entanglement, they both were very sick swans, it took a while for them both to get their water proofing back, it was unbelievable they fell in love while being in care, the big male pelican had botulism he to went off well. We have more pelicans to release but we will be releasing them after Australia Day .
We received this cute little purple swamp hen chick four days ago from one of our volunteers, he had no parents, he is nice and strong, this song suits him well, also we got to do the twist with chubby checker many years ago on hey hey Saturday, he said to us hope your mother taught you how to do the twist, we were honoured, chubby said we did well. We couldn’t resist it.
This is our pet duck that no one didn’t want after when he lost his down, he is beautiful how he likes to say good night before he goes to bed himself #duck #loveyou #intelligence #sunshinecoast
This beautiful female pelican was very lucky not to loose her wing or strangle herself as she had metres of fishing line on her. She went up to Dr Claude for surgery as she also had a hook that was deeply in, Dr Claude did well. Now she is in our care.
When it’s time to almost finish with the birds to go home, wishy the pea hen always comes in and puts herself to bed to roost for the night, she is amazing bird. We have hand raised this one as a lovely lady drove her up to us from north lakes when she was a day old chick, her parents were chased by dogs.
We have had these little butcher birds from Australia zoo wildlife hospital for at least a month , they were very young ones and still are. We put them into a aviary and they are loving it , learning to fly, but as you can see they are still young, except one, but today we noticed that he is playing a mother or father role , we got a shock that we seen him feeding one, just amazed it happened.
This is our beloved pet parrot, he is a Quaker, we have had him for 23 years actually Cliffy Young bought Zac for us, as we seen a story in the Sunshine Coast daily the lady interview a lot of people, but the lady knew we had that connection and bond with him. We absolutely love ❤️ him.
Amazing he landed here for help!!!
This beautiful ibis wanted us to rescue him, couldn’t believe he landed at our place , it only took us a few minutes to rescue him , he was so calm in our arms while removing the hook, he got a bit restless at the end because he knew he was going back, sorry for the movement video at the end as it was a bit hard.
This beautiful Satin bird is such a character, we have nicknamed him bluey!!! he is free to go anytime but some days he wants to come in and stay for the night. Just unbelievable how you can have a chat him, yes we did hand raise him, just beautiful how he has just stayed around our sanctuary #bowerbird #wildlife #nature #Amazing
Look what we seen happen with our pet goat Wilson and Goosie goose, it made us have a bit of a giggle
Yesterday we got a phone call from the lovely couple who were so concerned about this beautiful pelican , they said think she has a broken wing, we thought the worse, but when we got their with our friend Emily who came along to help, we spotted her and we both said thank goodness she hasn’t got a fractured wing. She is one lucky pelican though to have this huge hook in the wing, no wonder the lovely people thought she had something bad with the wing, we were so blessed they phoned us so we could help her. We didn’t have to ask our brother for help, we first try our little ones but they didn’t do anything so we used the big bolt cutters in our work shed, they worked really good without using much strength. We removed it then gave her antibiotics and pain relief, before we put her in the enclosure she gave us a big hug to say thank you. We have nicknamed her Emmy after our friend Emily, she settled in quite well.
We haven’t witnessed a bully like this before in a nest ,just a pecking order previously. But we couldn’t just leave him in the nest to die. So we had to take the baby and save his life, he was very exhausted and very bruised and had cuts to his skin .Most people would say to leave its nature , but our hearts couldn’t do that as we need to save as many pelicans as we can.Now he is in our care, and he has doubled in size, glad he or she has pulled through.
