We haven’t witnessed a bully like this before in a nest ,just a pecking order previously. But we couldn’t just leave him in the nest to die. So we had to take the baby and save his life, he was very exhausted and very bruised and had cuts to his skin .Most people would say to leave its nature , but our hearts couldn’t do that as we need to save as many pelicans as we can.Now he is in our care, and he has doubled in size, glad he or she has pulled through.
We had to rescue this beautiful python as we didn’t want him heading out on that busy road. Poor mum is so frightened of them as you can tell, she has a big fear for them, we then got our friend Gary to go and release him over the back from us, no doubt he will be back. We love all creatures.
First of all we like to thank you all who has donated we really appreciated it. This tawny frogmouth came into us about 3 weeks ago by some lovely men, he had a shoulder injury as he only could fly knee high when we test flight him. So we did our method for him and it worked again. Our nephew Brodie came for the release last night, we like taking them back where they come from especially when they are adults, the sweet tawny knew he was back home.
This was a WOW factor this afternoon, while we were hanging out the towels that we washed for the birds, we were looking above and it was so magical, we couldn’t believe seeing so so many pelicans, we haven’t seen anything like this before flying over our bird sanctuary.Even more amazing 10 landed in , not sure if they will stay or not, but we don’t mind if they stay as pelicans are so beautiful and grateful to watch, this afternoon it was just amazing to see them fly like this, we tried our best to record this on our iPhone so you all could see it too, it’s amazing how they fly with the thermal current, we totally enjoyed watching them until they got out of sight.
This is the beautiful black swan , that we picked up from Eumundi wildlife centre, he had botulism or a toxic poisoning, he was one very sick swan, but we worked around the clock with him, we were worried all the time when we had to check on him. But our hard work has paid off as he got released yesterday by the lovely lady Janine who rescued him. Janine said he went for a huge fly then came back to his mates at the Gympie pond, it was amazing to see Janine said.
This is the test flight we did before he got released, we absolutely love it.
Good afternoon everybody we just want to give you all an update on our latest pelican that we got on Saturday morning, he is still with us, it’s been a hard battle but where not giving up on him, we are so glad he is starting to wiggle a little. We have been giving him all the love that he needs, but we do still get nervous checking on him as anything could happen, but our fingers are crossed for him on his journey to recover
At feeding time , it’s a lot of fun, they are funny to watch, the poor little darlings are doing well. You can tell when they are happy with their fledgling noise, oh boy they are just as messy looking after ducklings, but what can you do , they really love their food. They keep us on our toes. Glad the little hatchlings are doing well.
All we could think of is to run under the table as we thought the back wall was going to cave in, and Julie joined us as Julie was frightened too, while we were under the table we were so worried all about the animals!! and the birds.
Yesterday morning a young lady dropped off this beautiful kingfisher to us, actually she found him out on the hot road just in front of our centre, so she was so good to stop on that busy road, we knew what his problem was, heat exhaustion and he could of been clipped by a car, but we were so glad he didn’t have any injuries, so he was one lucky kingfisher, so we kept him in a cool spot for 24 hours, this morning he was full of life so we released him, so beautiful to see him fly off.
Mum was on the dam today fixing the foot valve, as it needed a clean, of course Rob the pelican was there to keep a eye out for mum, he is such amazing pelican, glad he loves pelican paradise.
We got a phone call from a lovely man named Graig from Wollongong, N.S.W this afternoon about this poor botulism pelican, if we had a jet we would of went Lol, but we knew a lady from the Wollongong area so we were straight on to it as Graig was so worried,so Australian Seabird And Turtle Rescue went for us and we were so glad that they responded so quickly for this poor pelican ,thank you Justine for rescuing,we appreciate it a lot as we love our pelicans, we need to save as many pelicans we can,as the pelican population has dropped,we are so glad he is in safe hands now,we will keep in touch to see how the pelican is.
Well Xmas party went off well for our volunteers and bit of fun on top deck thanks Claire. We had so much laughing
Our mum can do anything, mum has been very busy moving rocks to make it easier for the water to flow when we do get rain, mum is quite amazing being on that little machine and she certainly knows how to operate it as we have know one else to do it for us. Mum surprise’s us all the time.
Just look at this beautiful cute ibis before he’s feeding time
All of these ducklings are doing so well , they really love there greens.
This was the Juvenile Australiasian Gannet that came into our care 2 weeks ago.
Remember we met the kind fisherman who brought him back to shore after he accidentally hooked him up under water as the Gannet thought that lure was a fish, so glad the fisherman brought him in.
It was so beautiful to see him fly away yesterday, just hope he will keep himself out of trouble.
And thank you Claire for putting our 2 short videos together.
Remember bluey the satin bowerbird , well when we were doing our feeds she was in for a good chat, just listened to her.
The funny part was I said I need to go to spec savers as I thought bluey had dirty tail feathers Lol.
She flys around all day and follow’s us, she did stay out for a whole week ,but tonight she wanted to come in to roost, then we will let her out again tomorrow, she is a character of a bird , she took off with a lady’s pearl earring, but the lady got it back, then she took off with a $20 and dropped it, it was like a treasure hunt , we finally found it and the lady put it in the donation box.
Bluey is one of a kind.
This was the easiest rescue we have ever done, we just had to open our doors and the ibis walked in.
Glad the ibis had a good appetite.
Won’t be long and he will be released again, just by opening our door again for this sweet little ibises.
