πŸ’₯πŸ’₯CRATE TRAININGπŸ’₯πŸ’₯

Crate training is an essential aspect of raising a well-behaved and secure puppy. It provides a safe and structured environment that mimics a den, offering comfort and security for your dog. Crate training not only helps with housebreaking by teaching puppies to control their bladder and bowel movements but also helps prevent destructive behaviour when unsupervised. A crate can serve as a sanctuary for your puppy, helping to reduce anxiety and stress, especially during travel or when encountering new situations like going to the vet.

Additionally, crate training fosters independence and self-reliance, enabling your puppy to adjust more easily to various changes in their environment. These two girls do a lot of travel and are in a new environment on a daily basis.

Little Silvy (the blue Kelpie) started straight away at 8 weeks of age, three months later she is chilling out in the office on her FIRST day at work, off leash and unfazed.

If you are looking to teach your puppy everyday real world behaviours, hit us up on the details below and we will get you started!

So happy for these guys!
Marni was struggling with walking Koda, and considering they are making a big move to Western Australia, she reached out for some help before she takes off.

Leash communication is such an important part of building a good relationship between you and your dog. It’s not just about keeping your dog close; it’s really about sharing signals and understanding each other. With a few gentle pulls or relaxed tugs, you can guide your furry friend, helping them feel safe and encouraging good behaviour while you’re out for walks.

When you communicate well through the leash, it can help reinforce the commands you’ve taught and helps create a strong bond built on trust. Plus, it can make walks a lot more enjoyable and less stressful for both of you. If you’re clear with your signals, it can also help you avoid tricky situations, like dodging other pets or navigating busy streets. All in all, learning how to communicate effectively with your leash is a key part of being a responsible dog owner and making your outings fun and safe!

After just a few sessions, Marni and Koda nailed their leash communication and she looks like a professional.

Great job Marni and best of luck in Western Australia!!!

If you would like to learn how communicate better through the leash, hit us up on the details below.

Take it easy and look for the small wins.

While watching cool dog videos on socials is fun and can be inspiring, it’s important to remember that sometimes it may not be a good reference point for you and your dog at this particular point in time, for various reasons.

Try instead to provide lots of consistency and repetition in everyday pack drive behaviours and set some realistic goals for both you and the dog.

Unfortunately dog training is not a linear process, and dogs have a habit of making you scratch your head every now and then, which is all part of the fun and enjoyment of learning together. Sometimes we need to go back and fix or reinforce a behaviour we thought the dog had β€œlearned”.

Think of dog training like building a house. The difference between your house standing for 10 years or 100 years is the quality of the foundations. Yes it can be boring sometimes, and no one likes digging the trenches, but if you rush your foundational training, cracks start to appear when the dog (or you) come under pressure. Get a solid foundation by building a healthy relationship first, then build, brick by brick. 🧱

Look for small increases in criteria and end on a β€œwin” whenever you can.

If you need help or looking for guidance on how to β€œbuild” your dog and your relationship, reach out to us on the below details and we will be happy to provide you with tailored plan to suit you and your dog’s specific requirements.

Board & Train Nova πŸΎπŸ•

Nova is a Malinois x German Shepherd who has been training with us on and off she since was a little puppy. She has now hit her teenage (dog) years and like all teenagers she decided to test a few boundaries.

During her short stay we worked on impulse control with lots of place work and controlled exposures to new environments.

Having a good foundation and known positive behaviors to go into, Nova remembered the answers and was able to problem solve very quickly. This is a result of her dedicated owners putting in the work at home and providing her with a great environment to thrive in.

Until next time Nova! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Board & Train - Olive
This young Huntaway x Kelpie is FULL of energy and can be quite the handful for her owners.

As trainers we speak about genetic fulfillment a lot. Why? Because its important. Some dogs NEED to work.

We provided Olive with some basic markers, general obedience and gave her a "job" to do and she thrived.

We love the intensity she brings to training, her desire to do the right thing and commitment to the behaviour. She occasionally she likes to push boundaries which is all part of the fun πŸ™‚

We can't wait to see you (and those ears) again Olive πŸΎπŸ•

Private 1 on 1 consults
Henry and his owner started training with us after experiencing an unfortunate scary event while out and about.

Over a number of sessions we have been able to help them both rebuild their confidence and learn some new skills along the way.

A big congrats to this duo, they have been putting in the work at home, remained consistent and dedicated, and they are now enjoying the results. .

Both of these guys really love to train and it shows, we love seeing the big changes from session to session. πŸ˜ŠπŸΎπŸ• Keep it up guys!!!

Board & Train - Scout
Scout has been a regular Board & Train with us since she was just a little puppy and 12 months on she is starting to hit her straps. Scout has a very important job to do for her best mate which involves remaining calm in stressful environments, dealing with sudden loud noises, lots of people moving around in enclosed spaces, and soon she will learn to let Mum and Dad know when little man's machine goes into alarm.

Another big 12 months ahead Scout!
