We had Mr Bailey come visit us today! We are very happy and proud of his progress, he is doing so well. Bailey has been diagnosed with GOLPP - Geriatric Onset Laryngeal Paralysis Polyneuropathy, and it's predominantly affecting the strength and function of his hind legs. We have carefully monitored him in the water and he is doing great!
He is such a happy talkative boy! 💕

Wadevet have installed a Zebris Canine Gait Analysis Treadmill at our partnering site, Geelong Canine Fitness in Lara, Victoria.
This amazing technology allows us to objectively measure your dog's gait. This helps us assess for offloading or lameness and helps us better identify and therefore treat biomechanical issues as well as monitoring your dog for progress with their rehab.

$54 per dog.

Winston, the cutest lil wombat, has completed his rehab after having two IVDD surgeries on his back and neck. He has made a remarkable recovery and walking well. Well done Winston. After being my most difficult patient to convince him to walk in the water *he soo hates water 🤣, by the end he was walking like a pro! Going to miss you Winnie, behave yourself now!

Arrow is an elderly gentleman that comes regularly for Hydrotherapy, it has done wonders for his mobilty, strength and endurance. We love our Arrow and family visits!

How lucky am l getting to work on super cute Neo?!!💕🐕 His wonderful owner spotted that he wasn't quite walking like his normal self so she booked him in for some much needed bodywork. I think Neo enjoyed it don't you?😁

At Geelong Canine Fitness we don't just offer Hydrotherapy, all of our Hydrotherapists are trained in massage therapy and other modalities to help your dog (or cat 😉) be the best they can be!

Our most recent graduate, sweet little Ruby has completed her rehab with us for conservative management of a partial CCL tear. She is now weight bearing well on the leg and has built up the muscle lost. She will have future ABM assessments ( Animal Biomechanical Medicine) to ensure she stays on the right track.

WINTER WELLNESS...
Yes, good ol' Winter is upon us. As we age we feel the cold a lot more and the same goes for our older dogs. To help your older dog through the winter make sure they stay warm and out of the cold on a nice soft bed, have non slip surfaces to walk on and good healthy foods to help with inflammation.

Keeping them mobile is very important, as muscle loss occurs very quickly in older dogs. Hydrotherapy and massage is a fantastic way to support your older dog's mobility. We have huge success with our golden oldies here at Geelong Canine Fitness, helping to improve their strength, mobility and zest for life. So proud of our Bonnie!💕 This sweet elderly girl badly broke both of her hocks which had to be fused - meaning she could no longer flex the hock joint. She was having difficulty getting up and was tending to just lie down in the one spot, getting weaker and no longer able to enjoy her walks.
Luckily her owner sort help from us and Bonnie has continued to improve each week! She is so much stronger in her hindlegs now, is able to get up easily, follows her mumma all around the house and the best part she is out enjoying her bush walks again!! Love being a part of dogs living their best life💕🐕

WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T TEACH AND OLD DOG NEW TRICKS AND HELP THEM MOVE BETTER! 😀 The feedback we continually get from Owners with their older arthritic dogs is that after Hydrotherapy their dogs are walking so much better, getting stronger and are happier with more energy. We really love working with our older patients, the changes we see are just amazing.
Here is a before and after of one of our golden oldies, 13yo Tim Tam, who came to us with issues with mobility, arthritic, difficulty in getting up and not comfortable in going for walks, she is doing so well and getting stronger and has greater range of motion. We are so happy with her!

Sweet baby boy (yes baby!!😆) Neo is in for rehab after an ulnar osteotomy (surgery on his elbow) he is loving the water and his favourite past time is staring lovingly at himself in the mirror!😆😆 So happy to be part of his journey back to wellness🐕
