Navajo Pacing

I know it’s been a bit quiet on the Navajo team. We are currently not racing any ourselves with Cheyenne working fifo and myself sporting an injury. But some of the team are off with other trainers.

⭐️Stable star Nullarbor Navajo (Bri) has been working and racing with Corey Peterson, who has been doing a great job with her. She has had two starts for Corey at Gloucester Park and tonight ran 2nd (again!)🥈 It’s very exciting watching this girl go around and do so well.

⭐️Nyarnyee Navajo (Maggie) is currently with the Hayden Reeves stable and raced in Albany tonight running a good 3rd 🥉.

We are off to Wagin tomorrow night for races.

Race 1:
-Navajo Trailblazer (George). Hoping to improve from last start. Has been working well.

Race 2:
-Yanaha Navajo (Stumpy). Not a bad barrier. Hopefully can make the most of it. Has been a few weeks since last start.

Race 2:
-Navajo Trailblazer (George). Awkward barrier. Hopefully can slot in somewhere. Looking for a lot of luck.

Race 7:
-Yanaha Navajo (Stumpy). Hopefully she puts in a solid run and can run home strong.

We also have our youngster Ekara Navajo (Kara) at Gloucester Park tonight with Dean Miller in race 10. She is racing against some good company tonight. Hopefully she can put in another solid run. Good luck Dean. We know she is in good hands.

What can I say, this little girl did absolutely amazing today at Bunbury.

🥇Ekara Navajo (Kara) led the whole way and brought home the win for Dean Miller. Very excited to see what this girl has in front of her in her race career.

Well done Dean! We are so happy your hard work is paying off. You make a great team.

Both Yanaha Navajo (Stumpy) and Navajo Trailblazer (George) ran super in very hard races. They both put in their all and very happy with them.

☀️✨We are doing the trek to Bunbury tomorrow for races✨☀️

Race 3:

-Navajo Trailblazer (George). After a nice fourth last weekend at Wagin we are hoping for another good run this week from George.

Race 4:

-Yanaha Navajo (Stumpy). Stumpy is Having no luck with barrier draws lately. Will need a lot of luck.

Our youngster Ekara Navajo (Kara) is also having her first race tomorrow for Dean Miller in race 1. We are all very excited to watch this filly as she starts her racing career. Dean has been putting in a lot of work and hopefully it pays off. As long as she does everything right we will be very happy.

Ekara Navajo (Kara) did awesome in her trial at Pinjarra yesterday running home first with a mile rate of 2:00:8. Great result for her first trial.

Well done Dean Miller! You’re doing a great job with her. Very excited to see her keep learning and improving.

Our girl Ekara Navajo (Kara) has been working hard with Dean Dingas Miller and is having her first ever trial tomorrow in Pinjarra.

We are very keen to see this girl go around. Thanks heaps Dean for all the hard work you’ve been putting into her.

The horses are off to trots Friday night at both Narrogin and Gloucester Park.

Race 5:
- Nullarbor Navajo (Bri). This is her second run at GP. Hoping she will be able to get a clear run and come home well. All we can ask is for her to try her best which she consistently does.

Race 1:
- Immachulate (Bernie). Unfortunately drew a bad barrier (6) this week but hopefully she can run well.

Race 7:
- Yanaha Navajo (Stumpy). Stumpy also drew unfortunately bad this week (6). Will need a lot of luck.

Our ‘special’ girl Nullarbor Navajo (Bri) is off to Gloucester Park tomorrow night.

Race 8 barrier 10.

This will be a great test for Bri with it being her first ever run in the city against some very good horses. Hopefully Bri puts in another very solid run and races well. It’s amazing how far this girl has come over the last year. We are very excited to see how her career continues.

Our water babies Nullarbor Navajo (Bri) and Yanaha Navajo (Stumpy) enjoyed a splash at the beach this morning. They absolutely love the water.

We are definitely very lucky to live where we do and have a great beach so close. Was perfect down there today.

Now that our local Albany season as finished we are back to travelling to races. Tomorrow night we will be racing in Narrogin with 3 horses going around.

Race 1:
-Navajo Trailblazer (George). Hopefully improve his performance from last start. Not an ideal barrier.

Race 2:
-Hannah Macella (Ella). Looking for a lot of luck from an awkward barrier.

Race 8:
-Immachulate (Bernie). Great barrier this week but will have some stiff competition. Hopefully can make the most of the barrier draw.

• HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED AS AN OWNER?
My partner Robyn wanted to breed horses. Thoroughbreds were too expensive and ponies were to small! So we decided on Standardbreds. A very good mate of mine Mark Sargent, located a horse that had been bought from the eastern states, was no longer racing and was available as a broodmare. So Robyn and I purchased it and began the Navajo Plains Story! Poi was a fantastic horse as a first purchase. She was kind, gentle and became a family pet. Her only foal was Navajo Beauty as she unfortunately died of snake bite just after the birth.

• WHO INTRODUCED YOU TO RACEHORSE OWNERSHIP?
Mark Sargent. Mark was the one who secured Poi Bromac and from then on we have been breeding, owning, and racing.

• FAVOURITE MOMENT OR BIGGEST THRILL AS AN OWQNER SO FAR?:
The biggest thrill was winning the Golden Slipper with Spirit of Navajo. Unfortunately, we weren’t at the race and so didn’t feel the on-course excitement. We watched it at home and the experience of John Hunts call was mind tingling! My favourite moment was winning the Denmark Cup with Spirit of Navajo. It was great because the whole family was there, Charlie Draper a friend and trainer handled the horse and Amy Stone drove it.

I love the Standardbred. Their nature and willingness to work hard is inspiring. I feel comfortable around the country owners, trainers, and reinspeople. Most people who go to the trots are just down to earth, hardworking people who love their animals, are friendly and excited about racing their horses.
