2021 was so fun! Placing Masa at Tokyo Metropolitan Children’s Hospital and Ty at Shizuoka Children’s medial center was, for sure, my highlights but, I can not forget the starting of my new business.
I am SO thankful to everyone that helps me making this adventure possible ❤️ and a great shoutout to my clients that allow me to make a living from what I love the most. I am definitely very fortunate ❤️🐶🐾

Had a great time on my trip to the USA 🇺🇸
My KPA Certified Training Partner course was basically online but it was a requirement to do an in-person session. Because of COVID my session was postponed and I was able to travel this December.

Definitely an amazing experience. Got to meet my dedicated and passionate classmates; had the opportunities of training puppies; prepare and directed my own group training class and met the legendary Terry Ryan which, it was both an honor and a tremendous fun experience!

Really enjoyed the positivity that guided all the lectures and the companionship and expertise of everyone ❤️

Looking forward to continuing my formation in dog training and continue generating these amazing connections to really positive, friendly and fun people!

Did this video while training Ty and Masa. I enjoyed so much our walks with long leash. Our usual spots were Komazawa Park and Tama River.
Did you know all the benefits of decompression walks?
Which is your favorite spot in Tokyo to go for a long leash walk with your dog?

Last week I had the pleasure of taking care of these 2 adorable puppies.
Hachi is a lovely boy. He enjoys being silly, loves food, sits on chairs like a human and snuggling.
Mori is very independent but comes running to you wagging her whole butt if there is petting involved. She loves playing with Hachi (both tugging and destroying toys), retrieving and chewing on toys.

It was a great week and really enjoyed training and sitting these two amazing doggies.

‘Till next time ❤️🐶❤️

Learned helplessness: when an animal is repeatedly subjected to an aversive stimulus that it cannot escape.
During my training career, I have found people telling me "at first my dog will run away from (insert here the aversive stimulus) but now I can do the procedure without her fighting"
Exposing repeatedly a dog to a situation-object-place that is aversive could cause the dog to "give up" deriving from a sense of no escape displaying apathy.
This behavior can be generalized to other situations and it is also associated with detrimental side effects.
Do your best to provide the opportunity for your dog to be scared or suspicious about circumstances but provide the support needed to overcome that feeling. Use your empathy and consult with a trusted trainer.

Does it sound familiar?
Usually, we get this advice when we compare our personal life or career path or family planning with others but we always get the same answer... "life is not a race". Remember this when training as well.
Once I got this quote and I have it as a mantra.
"New York is 3 hours ahead of California,
but it does not make California slow.
Someone graduated at the age of 22,
but waited 5 years before securing a good job!
Someone became a CEO at 25 and died at 50.
While another became a CEO at 50 and lived to 90 years.
Someone is still single, while someone else got married.
Obama retires at 55, but Trump starts at 70.
Absolutely everyone in this world works based on their Time Zone.
People around you might seem to go ahead of you, some might seem to be behind you.
But everyone is running their own RACE, in their own TIME.
Don’t envy them or mock them.
They are in their TIME ZONE, and you are in yours!
Life is about waiting for the right moment to act.
So, RELAX.
You’re not LATE. You’re not EARLY.
You are very much ON TIME, and in your, TIME ZONE Destiny set up for you.
In conclusion, don’t rush to get and don’t be sad.
Make today your day!!

Lately, I have been forming myself and veering into a positive reinforcing training.
I have realized that every behavior the dog shows is a result of genetics, environment, and past experiences. Based on this triad I try to rearrange the environment in order to make the desired behavior more probable to appear and reinforce it.
I have to admit that sometimes is not easy, corrections are easier to apply and the results are quicker, but in the end, the dog is the one that suffers.
Not letting the dog express himself, and trying to hide the problematic behaviors is like a pressure cooker, the pressure will escape somewhere. In this case sometimes is biting, growling, avoiding, submissiveness.
I vouch for the welfare and integrity of dogs. Try my best to study hard so I can find zillions of tools to act in the Less Intrusive Minimal invasive way and focusing on positive reinforcement only.

This is my training Philosophy.

How Do I Get My Dog to Come to Me When I Call Him?
Great Question.
Recall is one of the most important cues your dog can learn, it can even save lives!
First, start easy! Set you and your dog up for success.
Start in a low distraction environment (your home) and associate the cue with a great treat - the BEST treat ever! (Pro.tip: only use that specific treat for the recall. In my experience dried liver worked wonders)
Say the cue(eg: come here) immediately give the treat. Practice a couple of times. Add some distance. Then some distractions.
Practice outside with the long line.
The secret to success is to practice, practice, practice.
If you still don't feel confident with your recall do not let your dog off-leash.
Always praise when the dog comes. Remember he is leaving his sniffing, their friends, the exploring, the free time, to come to YOU. THAT is worth praising.

Did you know...?
Interactions with dogs improve cardiovascular measurements by reducing the Beats Per Minute.
Not only it is great news for pet owners, but also for those who are recipients of Animal Assisted Interventions.
Daily situations in Health Facilities such as blood drawing, minimally invasive interventions, surgical preparation, and procedure, can unbind a lot of anxiety. Many patients can benefit from the visit of a dog providing long-term relaxation.
Studies suggest that dogs can be used as a nonpharmacological treatment modality.
