What a scorcher of a day 🔥 Did you know our sessions run from 6:30am to 12:30. We rise early to catch the coolest part of the day and we make sure your dogs are dropped home to spend their afternoons relaxing inside/in the shade.
We also spend plenty of time splashing in the dam on those extra hot days. 💦 💦

We have scored another wonderful sitter!
Amy is a very experienced sitter with 7 years of house and animal sitting under her belt, Amy has been an animal lover since birth, rescuing her own sweet dog nine years ago. Amy has spent the last year volunteering with the Dog’s Refuge Home in Perth where she gained valuable experience with our most vulnerable dogs. Amy has also traveled extensively through Asia and Africa, seeing first hand the different ways dogs and other animals live. As a truly passionate animal lover, Amy wishes she could rescue all the animals but settles for helping where she can and offering her care in homes to allow dog owners to feel confident their animals are being loved and cared for to the highest standard.
Amy has now relocated to Witchcliffe and is available for sitting and house visits with Furry Fit!

Welcome 🤗 Poppy 🤗

This gorgeous girl has joined our weekly off leash adventure sessions and is all legs and heart! Poppy hit it off with Bonnie, who is also all legs 😅 they enjoyed the pure joy of each other's company while trying to control their excited limbs. Poppy is only six months old and we are very excited to watch her grow into her body and find her place amongst the pack over the next few months 🙂

You can't effectively control your pooch and how it is engaging with other dogs on the beach if you're out in the surf. It doesn't matter if your dog is 'friendly'. Their 'friendliness' can be perceived as crossing boundaries for our reactive doggos- with no owner to communicate with it can lead to stressful incidents for all involved.

Please don't abandon your dog at the beach! 🐕☀️

Just a friendly reminder that you can't leave your dog unattended at the beach—who knows what they could be getting up to!?

Heading out to enjoy the sunshine or go for a surf? Leave your pooch at home if they’ll be out of reach. 🐶🏄‍♀️

If you spot a lonely dog, call our Rangers 📞(08) 9780 5695. They are regularly patrolling every day during this busy peak period and will respond as soon as possible.

Dogs found wandering alone may be taken to the pound if the owner cannot be found.

Welcome to the Furry Fit House Sitting Team Billie!

Billie comes to Furry Fit with her Cert 3 in Animal Studies and a range of experience looking after animals. She has volunteered at the RSPCA animal shelter, where she gained special experience walking rescue dogs, assisting with training and administering medicine, in this position she also learnt a range of techniques on how to restrain dogs correctly and valuable insight in caring for dogs in a range of scenarios. All while maintaining a loving and caring approach.
Billie is based in Dunsborough but has made herself available for all of our Margaret River, Cowaramup and Busselton clients as well.

We have a very small, close knit team of sitters who take this work seriously and care for client's animals passionately. Advocate for your pets this Summer as they can't do it for themselves ❤️

SUMMER EMERGENCY PT II

The latter half of the week hasn’t eased up for our pets! Here’s some vet tips from cases this week:

1. HEAT STROKE: it’s hot and the brachy breeds feel it the most (pugs, frenchies, bull dogs, short nosed staffys) - the most effective way to cool down your pet is to hose them to soaking wet and put a fan on close by. Please do NOT cover with a wet towel. Do this BEFORE arrival at the clinic if possible.

2. SAND INGESTION: if discarding cooking oil please do it on grass then hose away or discard in an area where dogs cannot ingest the oily sand. Sand ingestion can lead to mild gastro signs to severe with obstruction and sepsis.

3. KANGAROOS: urbanisation and the dry heat mean that the Roos will be closer to walking trail / residential areas. If your dog has a strong prey drive or is just too curious - please keep them on the lead while kangaroos do their thing. Wounds inflicted by kangaroos defending themselves are often extensive and 90% of the time will require surgical repair.

4. SNAKES: we have had 4 snake envenomation cases in 10 days. These have all been from the KARRIDALE area - but we know there can be snakes in town center back yards.

5. FISH HOOKS: we see plenty of fish hooks in dogs (and some cats!) - generally all require a minimum of sedation to remove - these are generally in the mouth or snagged in a foot. Ingested hooks can require abdominal surgery. Take care with where you store fishing gear.

These two come from the same mother but different litters. They are a delight to watch on the off leash adventures- their hobbies include jumping into the water on top of each other (on purpose) and absolutely running amuck with their new friends in the field. They are the epitome of joy 🙌

Busselton and surrounds!
Do you have enclosed land we can use for our off leash doggy adventures twice per week? Our current Yelverton property will be listed to sell in the future. We have been using this property for around two years now which has lead to a wonderful relationship with the owners.

We are in no rush to move on as we have been given more than enough notice to find our next doggy paradise, however we're putting word out early and if you have something that's perfect we would love to jump straight on it!
We would love to find another space with a swimming dam for our happy pooches and would also love to upgrade this time with a shed available for us to set up a base!

The way we speak about your dogs at Furry Fit reminds me so much of when I was working in early childhood education- we do our best to remember their needs, their quirks, their strange and sometimes funny dislikes. We notice changes in their temperament and we get so excited when they reach milestones or conquer challenges.
Mitch will often send me photos or videos of new successes or queries and we love sharing these updates with owners and working together to best care for your furry best mates!
