Stride Ahead Equine’s comprehensive diet consultations include an evaluation of your horse’s current diet. The graphs show some of the information you will receive from your diet consultation. The current diet is a popular feed, fed at rates recommended by the manufacturer. The suggested diet is a diet recommended by Stride Ahead Equine to feed the same horse. The red line in both graphs indicates the minimum target levels for this horse.
As an independent equine nutritionist Stride Ahead Equine can review your diet without bias, ensuring that your horse receives the nutrition it needs to shine, while being friendly on your pocket. The current diet shows a diet significantly low in copper, iodine, selenium and zinc. The suggested diet shows these levels rectified to above required levels, at a cost significantly below the current diet. As well as the energy, protein, major minerals and trace minerals shown the horses diet is looked at for critical vitamins and recommendations made on these, if addition is required for your horse’s situation.

New Italy 2024

This weekend David Urquhart ventured south to partner the lovely Danic Park bred, owned and trained mare Danic Park Mackenzie in the 84km ride.

Mackenzie went on to improve her already impressive ride record by placing 1st MWT in 5hrs 20min (15.71kph) and take home the Best Conditioned Horse Award.

Thank you David Smith and Nicole Urquhart for the opportunity to ride her. David Smith did a great job of training her, she was still shying as she crossed the finish line!

Biggenden 2024 was another great weekend for the Stride Ahead Team.

David partnered Bremervale Philadelphia in the 80km ride to 1st MWT in a time of 4hrs 50min. Philadelphia also received Best Conditioned horse.

Endurafest 2024

Well it certainly was an interesting weekend of endurance lows and highs.

We arrived on Tuesday as part of the Australian team. Unfortunately for David and Philadelphia it wasn’t to be our ride. It was decided that there was a stronger combination on the day and Emma was promoted to the starting team. Whilst we were bitterly disappointed, we were very happy for Emma as she is an amazing young rider and we gave her our support.

We then turned our focus to Saturday with David and Zuhra Zalotchii in the 2* 120km.

Zalotchii certainly shone again taking out 1st place in a time of 7hrs 22min 33sec, finishing 36min in front of the next competitor. He also then won Best Conditioned Horse and Best Recovery Rate with an average recovery time of 1min 10sec.

On the weekend we travelled two horses to the Endurafest Test Event in Roma.
David Urquhart rode Zuhra Zalotchii and Angela Urquhart rode Steel Poppy Paris in the FEI 1* event.

David and Zalotchii placed 1st open and Best Conditioned horse in a time of 5:48:56 with an average speed of (17.2km/hr), and a last loop speed of 20.2km/hr. Zalotchii's recovery times were extremely impressive with an average of 1min 14sec.

Angela choose to retire Paris after the second loop as Paris was not herself. She has returned home happy and healthy.

Thank you to the event organisers, officials and vets, David Smith for travelling up to crew for us and everyone else who jumped in at the vet gates to help us.

We have been a bit quiet lately as have had a fair bit going on with the usual day to day running, travelling for events and our wedding, so here’s an update on how our horses have been going.

At Southbrook on 16th March we took Zuhra Zalotchii and Steel Poppy Paris for a 40km ride. Both were successful with low heart rates, giving Paris her qualification for FEI events which lead us to a trip deep into NSW for Easter.

Over the Easter weekend we travelled 1300km to Burrumbuttock for the FEI 1* 100km ride. Both horses performed well with David and Zuhra Zalotchii placing 4th and Angela Urquhart riding Steel Poppy Paris placing 5th.

This week we visited one of our valued clients with our new Portable Equine Weighbridge Scales.

Have you ever wondered what your horse weighs, if you are worming the correct amount or feeding too much? Or possibly you are about to order your dream float and dont know your horses weights to work out your gvm/gcm.

We are now taking bookings and can weigh your horses at your property, we just need a flat firm surface.

We are also offering microchip scanning. If you have recently purchased a new horse or have an old one and you don’t have its microchip number, this is very handy to have if your horse gets lost or stolen

Inglewood in July ride saw us compete with 2 Combinations.

Angela riding Steel Poppy Paris completed the 40km ride with a perfect log book and great heart rate.

David rode Bremervale Bey Hucleberry in the 80km ride to place =2nd mwt in a time of 5hrs 3min, with fast recoveries.

Congratulations Brandon Dick and Danic Park Mirramah on your Successful completion at the 2023 Tom Quilty Gold Cup.

Brandon Purchased this horse from Danic Park recently with the initial goal being a TQ23 buckle.

We at Stride Ahead Hoof Care and Training were proud to continue her Mirramah’s final preperation and crew her at the event.
