Please note that attached is the latest media release from Agriculture Victoria regarding the investigation into the recent sudden deaths in horses in Victoria. I urge horse owners to be vigilant, gain your information from reputable sources, and contact your vet if you have any concerns. Reporting of suspected cases directly to Agriculture Victoria or the emergency animal diseases hotline is essential in confirming cases and working towards identifying the potential cause.

Please monitor your horses for the following symptoms: dullness, lethargy, inappetance, diarrhoea, colic and an elevated temperature (above 38.5°C).

I understand this a worrying time, but rest assured that a large effort and collaborative approach is underway to hopefully determine the cause and keep your horses as safe as possible.

Agriculture Victoria is investigating the cause of multiple sudden deaths in horses which have occurred on separate properties since 4 July, 2023.

It's Gastroscope Day time again!
Pinnacle Equine Vets, in conjunction with Randlab, are pleased to offer a gastroscope day on Wednesday the 5th July 2023. It will be held at 170 Coolart Road, Moorooduc, with the kind support of Peyton Park.
Equine gastric ulcer syndrome can result in a variety of clinical signs. The only way to conclusively diagnose gastric ulcers is by performing a gastroscpope. The following symptoms may indicate that your horse has gastric ulcers: reduced appetite, weight loss, poor performance, behaviour changes, girthiness, mild colic.
Please note that your horse will need to be fasted overnight prior to the procedure. For further details and bookings please contact 03 97892205
