❤️IMPORTANT INFORMATION❤️
🏡PLEASE READ IT ALL 🏡
We’ve had a few people question our procedures and ways of running our shelter in regards to our recent post about our ginger kittens and fosterers and to how and when kittens get adopted so I thought I’d clear it up.
🐈🏡First and for most- kittens are unable to be rehomed without being Desexed. This is an extremely important point as we do not advocate for Kittens to be rehomed without being Desexed. Kittens need to be 1kg which is usually when they are 10 weeks. This means nothing under 10 will be rehomed.
🐈🏡 A lot of our posts consist of kittens being “child friendly and placid”, please note majority of the kittens we take in are often considered “feral/unrehomeable/nasty and mean” we would rather use the terms “scared”. These scared kittens often take weeks to stop their “scared tendency’s”.
This includes biting, hissing, scratching, and teeth showing.
🐈🏡Due to us being a no kill shelter where would we keep these kittens? That is where our AMAZING fosterers come into play. Our fosterers are key in rehabilitation of our kittens. They spend endless hours and time on our kittens. Making sure they’re just perfect for when it’s time for them to be rehomed. We are forever greatful and wouldn’t be where we are without them.
🐈🏡 There is a lot of behind the scenes work that is done at our shelter that isn’t shown. We get a lot of underage babies that require feeding and special care, majority of the kittens we take in are not posted on the page until I believe I’m able to show them without getting questioned.
🐈🏡Those who have adopted from our rescue personally will know that I offer support long after my babies are rehomed. I will always answer my phone and often help with care after adoption. Once an A’s Services will always be.
🐈🏡 Working in rescue is extremely stressful and involved a lot of patience. We see many things the world doesn’t and often have to go through these alone, Because I chose not to post about it, Prime example when we lose a kitten we’ve tried so so hard to save. It completely destroys everyone in the team, and I’m extremely lucky to have such a supportive team up my sleeve.
🐈🏡 This post was not designed to make anyone feel bad for us, it simply was an informative post as we do not tolerate accusations coming from those who think they know best writing information on a public page trying to make us and our processes look bad. We love what we do, and wouodnt change it for the world. 4 years in and we are still kicking on strong.
🐈🏡These times are hard for everyone but I would appreciate it those would take their frustrations out somewhere other than my page, which is usually filled with joy. I as head of rescue do not need to defend my page, however chose to do so especially if people begin to imply that their “home” would be better than the homes that my fosterers offer.
