Fawing/Appeasment Behaviour
Often we’ll see people interpret dog body language as positive when it isn’t necessarily! Rolling over to expose the belly, lip licking, wagging tail, “cuddles”, yawning, begging with paws and nuzzling can be ways that dogs are trying to communicate “hey, I don’t like what your doing or this situation but I want to keep the peace.”
Though sometimes these are happy moments it’s about context. Is the lip licking happening because you have food or is it because they’ve just met another dog they are uncertain of? Are they putting their paws together because you’ve taught them that trick or because they know it’s a way to get you to pay attention to their needs? Context is always key.
And often in grooming these behaviours are because they are worried - which is understandable as grooming has lots of noise, sensations and the haven’t got their parent around.
The main thing is that we pick up on these more subtle cues to make grooming a more comfortable experience xx
Grooming a scared cat 🐱💖
We show lots of lovely grooming calm clips, but the reality is not all pet clients start calm. Grooming SHOULD NOT be terrifying. They should always leave happier than they came in.

Who’s guilty of sitting in your towel for ages after having a shower 🙋♀️
Zeus the husky is like a big fluffy cloud after his groom ☁️ Just like the insulation in the walls of your home, Double coated breeds, like Zeus, are kept particularly warm with their coat is structured (small “fluffy” undercoat with long, thick guard hairs over the top.) This layered system of fur helps regulate their body temperature; it keeps them warm in winter and cool in summer. Without regular grooming though, the undercoat becomes dirty, matted, wet and the insulation doesn’t function as it should. In fact - in the absence of grooming, the undercoat is not given the opportunity to breathe, meaning it can take hours to dry, become dreadfully uncomfortable, make your dog colder and increase their risk of weather associated illnesses! Lucky Zeus had his coat beautiful groomed to keep him comfortable in this freezing Melbourne weather 💖

Changes Due to Staff Stortage ❗️❗️❗️❗️
Our luck at dodging covid has finally run out!😞 After a lovely night out together over the weekend, covid has taken down nearly all of our staff 🥴 (they’ve consented to let me tell you that, so hopefully the situation is better understood.)
I understand why the royals don’t fly together now; it’s hard to navigate how to keep things going when everyone goes down at once!
Well, not everyone. The only people left are me (Annie) and Em.
Because of the circumstances, please note the following:
✅ Annie and Em’s appointments will run as per usual
❌ Retail is closed
❌ All other appointments over the next week wont be able to go ahead and will need to be rescheduled
❌ The salon phone won’t be able to be answered as all receptionists are out, and Annie and Emily will be with animals
❗️Correspondence should be via text (0400 640 844) and email ([email protected]) Again, we have no receptionists so there will be a delay in responsiveness
❗️Account for extra time with grooming as appointments are likely to run over as Annie and Em try to juggle extra responsibilities and appointments
❗️Em has never done Front Of House before, so bare with her as she learns on her feet
We are so sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment. We will endeavour to make it up to you.
