It's been two weeks since Fergus was picked up from the pound and joined his lovely foster home. He is such a smooch and has been so good for his medication. Thankfully, his foster mum has noticed a slight improvement in his breathing, and he seems far less irritated by his swelling. We know that it's going to take time for the anti-fungal medication to do its thing, but we are so thankful that we can already see improvements to Fergus' quality of life.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make rescuing him possible 💜

🌠Guardians Update🌠
Starlord and Nebula are nice and warm and clean after a big day at the vet today. Unfortunately, although we have had some movement, the babies are still not able to pass everything, so I'm going to get them back into the vet early tomorrow morning as discussed with our lovely vet today.

I am so thankful to those beautiful people who have helped with a donation or kind words so far 💜 I am really hoping that we can get more help with donations for tomorrow's vet bill too 🙏

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

💜New Arrival💜
New girl Bella is settling in nicely after a big team effort to get her out of the pound and into foster care. The pound had already helped her with her veterinary work, so once her carer has gotten to know her, she will be listed for adoption on

Her carer has said that Bella is becoming quite interactive and inquisitive. She is still running away when they try to pat her, so they will need to work on that together slowly. But we know she will get there.

Please keep an eye out for our adoption posts and share them to help our furry friends reach their forever homes.

Hi everyone, it's Kat here. It's been a roller-coaster of ups and downs this month and I haven't had the mental energy to update on hardly any of our amazing adoptions which I'm disappointed in myself about as I'm so proud of the amazing quality of forever homes we have found for our special fur friends. I really want to do better at making an effort to share the stories of the animals we are able to help because of your ongoing support.

I always hate asking for help as I know how challenging it is out there for all of us but little ones like Nebula pictured with me are again needing expensive veterinary care and I have already exhausted what I had put aside for other important vet work happening over the last fortnight.

Nebula and her brother saw the vet again yesterday but this time for constipation! Unfortunately the enemas and fluids haven't helped so they will now have to spend the rest of the day at the vet while we try to manage their challenging little digestive systems. We also have Snow at the vet as she is having xrays, desexing and her microchip done today.

If you are in a position to share a small donation towards their vet care today it would be extremely helpful. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Can you help the beautiful Snow get to her 9am drop off for her desexing appointment? We waited weeks for this date and I'd hate her to have to be rescheduled.

This morning, the beautiful Gamora lost her battle with her tiny body and grew her wings 🌈 She is the second baby from the Guardians crew to pass away in the last five days. Groot lost his battle on Wednesday, which broke me. Seeing him go from such a fighter despite his tiny size to being so weak. I have had so much going on in my personal life that I took 3 days off work to focus on giving my everything to helping the others to overcome their digestive problems.

For the last two weeks, the babies have battled with constant diarrhoea. They have had multiple vet visits where their f***l tests came back negative for anything nasty. They have received fluid therapy, two different types of antibiotics, worming, probiotics, Lectade which contains a balanced mixture of glucose, glycine and electrolytes for the treatment of dehydration and around the clock care to support them in every way possible.

I knew from the beginning of Gamora's journey with me that she was battling something congenital but she was just too tiny for the vets to be able to do any tests yet and sadly it was all too much for her to continue fighting. I will never forget the sweet moments we got to share together. There were so many of them, and I made sure she knew how special and amazing she was.

Unfortunately, the battle for the surviving two Guardians is not over yet, and today Gamora sister Nebula is dealing with constipation. Yep we have gone from one extreme to another and she's now booked into the veterinary hospital to hopefully help clear her bowls from a large hard f***l blockage that is far too big for her to pass on her own.

I have already spent over $1,000 on test and treatments for these babies over the last two weeks and I'm afraid that amount is going to more than double tonight if Nebula has to be admitted into hospital to help her clear her blockage. If you can help with any amount, it would make a huge difference in helping Nebula and Starlord to get through this.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

🙋🏻‍♀️Directors Update🙋🏻‍♀️
Hello from BFFR HQ haha! For those who don't know me, my name is Kat! I'm the one you would have spoken to if you have ever fostered or adopted from BFFR. Many don't know that I do all of the social media, adoption and fostering coordination, organise and plan all new intakes, vet appointments and follow ups, on my own while also working 7 days a week and caring for many animals here at BFFR HQ. (Which currently has me up ever two hours feeding tiny bottle babies)....

I say "on my own" but I do have the help and support of so many beautiful and kind people, many that I now class as great friends. And those of you who I don't know personally but you have helped by sharing their posts and donating towards veterinary care. I am very thankful for you all. BFFR is going amazing right now with so many beautiful animals finding their forever homes but one thing that always still remains is that $10,000 vet account that I just can't catch up to on my own.

I decided to make this update because, as of next week my mum will be coming to stay with me as she requires help with her care due to having Multiple sclerosis (MS). We have a lot to sort out over the next few weeks so I'd like to ask you to please be patient with me if I need you to send me a few kind reminders to anything you are waiting for as I'm so overloaded that I can forget things.

My mum absolutely loves cats and my two personal rescue cats Ace and Dreamer have already taken a liking to sleeping on the bed that I have made up nicely for mum. They are ready to give her lots of love.

My mum is a big BFFR supporter and has being making a monthly donation towards BFFR for years now. If you would like to help donate towards our ever growing vet expenses, any support is greatly appreciated as I love the difference we get to make for so many BFFR animals.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Gorgeous Bloom and her brother Amity are recovering well from their desexing on Friday. Even with this harsh Melbourne heat which I'm sure so many of us will be looking forward to cooling down tomorrow.

These two siblings have been hand raised since they were tiny babies and will be listed on PetRescue for adoption as a bonded pair as they are attached at the hip and match each others personally perfectly.

💫Officially introducing Groot💫
I was previously too scared to do an introduction for this tiny man as he came to me weighing only 82g with the worst diarrhoea of any neonatal baby I've ever fostered.

I'm so happy that he is stable enough for me to update you all that Groot is now at least 9 days old and with the help of lots of 2 hourly supportive care, he is doing nice big solid poops and gaining weight.

Groot is still extremely small for his age but is also pretty strong too. I'm excited for his eyes to open over the next few days and to watch him grow and play with the other kittens.

💬🐈‍⬛Fergus Update 🐈‍⬛💬
I'm so sorry it's taken me a few days to give an update but here it is!! On Tuesday, our wonderful friend and volunteer Kaya travelled to the pound to free Fergus and transport him to a vet appointment for testing before then finally to his absolutely amazing new foster home 🥳🏡

Thanks to this beautiful communities help, we were able to raise about $600-$700 towards his first vet visit which ended up coming to $1,128.31. Fergus had many tests and thankfully he is negative for FIV/FELV, his bloods showed all good organ function and his new compound medication arrived today so he is now on treatment to hopefully improve his breathing.

Fergus is an absolute smooch machine and is extremely happy to be getting all the love off his foster family. We are so thankful for all the help towards his fundraising shout out as we have had many other animals that have been to the vet this week aswell. Please if you can spare a donation to help us with a vet bills it would make a huge difference to this small rescue as we want to keep helping those in need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

This week has been absolutely crazy busy and in amongst it all I've had the beautiful Sophie and Houdini staying with me for bonding. They are both so fun and full of personality so its being a funny start watching them navigate their thoughts about each other. I can certainly see that they are enjoying each other's company so please keep your fingers crossed that their friendship continues to blossom so that they can head off together later in the week!

💜New Arrivals💜
It's been a busy day here at BFFR HQ with meet and greets, rabbits arriving for bonding, cleaning, feeding and then in amongst all of that these four little orphans found their way to me thanks to the wonderful team at who made sure they were kept warm and fed till a rescue was found.

The smallest boy is only 82g and was handed in on his own but now has the other three to grow up with. A special thank you also goes to Coral and her partner for putting their hand up to help when they saw my transport request 🥰

I took a break from admin to give senior piggie Coco a fresh trim and a butt wash, so now she's feeling nice and fresh! I do enjoy keeping long hair piggies coats long but its important to still always make sure to keep their hair trimmed short around their bottom and sides as it makes it much easier for them to keep cool and stay fresh.
