🐹 Coco update 🐹
For those who have been following our updates on our senior piggie, I haven't given up on finding every option to help keep dear Coco as healthy and comfortable as possible. She's seen multiple vets and had all of her tests review, and we are excited to share that for the first time in two months, she has actually gained a tiny but of weight!
We started her on a heart medication this week, and she had her monthly arthritis injection. We haven't heard her wheeze or cough since starting her new medication, so let's hope that she continues to show more improvements!
Once again, I want to say a huge thank you to the amazing veterinary teams who are so passionate and patient when working with us week after week to give the best care we can to all the BFFR animals. As you can imagine, paying for the veterinary care of so many animals, especially those who have complex medical conditions, is a huge challenge for a small rescue, and many times I'm not able to pay when I should. This has a huge impact on my mental health as it's a massive stress for one person to carry on their own. But each visit, staff are always so lovely and I appreciate their kindness more than they could imagine.
I have sadly had to make the difficult decision to permanently close the doors to helping anymore animals but I will keep fighting to always provide the best care I can to all the animals in care until each one has either found their forever homes or if they are ready, gain their wings with the dignity and love that every animal deserves.
Caring for animals like Coco costs thousands of dollars, but I'll never let that get in the way of doing all I can for as long as I can provide them with quality of life.
