We have had a few weeks now to recover from what was a very sad time in our household, to which we thought it was time to update our page.

Our beautiful Ruby - unfortunately lost her puppies in a series of extremely unfortunate events and something that our vet hadn’t seen before. At no fault of her own, this meant that we had to undergo an emergency c-section to deliver our 8 beautiful babies born still.

Morning the loss her puppies, Ruby recovered well and was surprised with a teddy post delivery. She took this teddy as her own baby and spent her days recovering licking, cleaning, carrying and trying to nurse (usually any soft teddies in our house last a matter of minutes before they are chewed!).

We found this news to deliver to our families we connected with and approved homes for our litter the hardest to deliver, we appreciate all the support and love we have received.

Ruby is happy, healthy almost 4 weeks on and cleared that she will absolutely be able to carry another litter in the future.

Santa came a little late this year!

We are excited to announce the confirmation of pregnancy. Ruby and Knucles have successfully mated and are expecting approximately 8 puppies.

We have now been in contact with our puppy buyers and will be holding interviews next week.

This is a topic we take very seriously with our puppy buyers - it is imperative to be careful with over exercising. The best exercise you can give your puppy is training. This provides mental exercise and has been shown to be more effective that running/walking to tire your baby out. This is a great read 🙏

When you get your 8 week old puppies, please keep these images in mind. Their bones do not even touch yet. They plod around so cutely with big floppy paws and wobbly movement because their joints are entirely made up of muscle, tendons, ligaments with skin covering. Nothing is fitting tightly together or has a true socket yet.

When you run them excessively or don't restrict their exercise to stop them from overdoing it during this period you don't give them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every animal will engage in.

When you're letting your puppy jump up and down off the lounge or bed, take them for long walks/hikes, you are damaging that forming joint. When you let the puppy scramble on tile with no traction you are damaging the joint.

You only get the chance to grow them once. A well built body is something that comes from excellent breeding and a great upbringing-BOTH, not just one.

Once grown you will have the rest of their life to spend playing and engaging in higher impact exercise. So keep it calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once.

🐾International Puppy Day 🐾 This is my best friend, she’s actually my human non biological niece. I’m the boss of her, but we do love each other a lot. Hopefully we can see each other soon when we can visit our family 🙏🥰

Blustaffords are a registered Breeder with Dogs Victoria and ANKC. Both parents have Mains Pedigree papers and have undertaken appropriate DNA testing.

Staffordshire Bull Terriers can be prone to many hereditary diseases like any breed.

It is important to understand these, so when you are looking for a puppy you can carefully select your breeder based on their DNA profiles.

🧬 L2-HGA and HC are the main diseases, to which Ruby our pedigree, is clear of and all relevant DNA documentation will support this to ensure your puppy is happy and healthy - clear by parentage 🧬
