As most of you may be aware in November last year my own dog Lucky was diagnosed with an aggressive type of cancer. With the type of treatment recommended he was given 6 months, we have now reached 8 months since the diagnosis and have reached the palliative care stage of treatment. This progression was inevitable but still has hit me really hard.

I started this business because I was inspired by Lucky. He has and always will be my reason for a lot of the work I do.
I know a lot of my clients love Lucky, as he has always been the first one out to greet you on arrival and has been the self proclaimed ‘Boss’ of the business who keeps everyone (including me) in check.
I want to thank everyone who greeted Lucky with such love and excitement when they saw him the day of appointments. He truely loved being apart and fully immersed in everything.

I am temporarily stepping back from the business and grooming to spend what time I have left with him; spoiling him, loving him, making sure he is comfortable and just appreciating every second of him.

I’m sure a lot of you can understand how deeply devastating all of this has been for me and my family, so please bear with us as we navigate this tough time. I cannot give anybody a time frame of when I will be returning to work but will keep you posted via socials upon my return.

Announcing the winners for ‘Client Of The Month’ for the month of !

Though these two pooches are on complete opposite sides of the size scale they are both just as sweet and cuddly as each other!

We have with 3.5kg chihuahua Areeba or who we like to call “Reebie.”
While Chihuahuas can be known to be quite dramatic and “bitey” during grooming Mr Reebie is not one of them!
He is one of the best behaved little boys we the pleasure to groom!
Reebie is so well looked after by Mum and is regularly in for his appointments!

with one of the best big boys Axl the 50kg German Shepherd.
While Ax May look intimidating to those who don’t know him, he is the sweetest, softest, well mannered gentleman!
With such a thick dense coat, dad Nick has been great with keeping up with regular grooming appointments and it definitely shows!

Thank you to you both for staying on top of appointments and bringing us the delight of grooming your babies.
You both are very deserving of this award and recognition.

A little tribute to Amy our assistant groomer who today finally reached her last day of work!

A bitter sweet moment to see her go but she is leaving to prepare herself to welcome her first baby, a little boy. 🍼👶🏼💙

Thank you for everything you’ve done from the very beginning of this adventure.

Go be the best mumma you can be and we will always be here ready whenever you are.

Love you Ames, it won’t be the same without you, the clients and doggies will miss you, but most of all I will miss you.

Let’s talk about the seriousness of grass seeds! 🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾

Grass seeds can also be known as foxtails or awns, but not to be confused with Bindii prickles!

We really want to stress the importance of checking your dogs for these nasty seeds, as they can be really painful and more seriously cause a lot of damage.

Grass seeds carry bacteria and infection through the skin and into the body once they’ve embedded themselves with their barbe like spikes!
This generally causes painful swelling which proceeds into developing an abscess.

Your dog can easily get grass seeds while you’ve taken them walking in long grass or more commonly in areas where there’s dried grass fields.

Grass seeds generally come in about 1-2cm in length and come in various shapes. They’re usually shaped like a dart which are made up of spikes.

If left untreated, grass seeds can cause a variety of problems from minor skin irritations to conditions that require surgery! They can also cause severe internal damage if the seed makes its way inside your pet’s body.

Once a grass seed has attached itself, it will cause a swelling at the site of lodgement, which your dog will become very irritated with.

Common signs to look for are:
Dogs will try to lick, scratch or chew the affected area. For instance, in the most common area that grass seeds will end up which is the paw, your pup may identify with a swollen, red paw, with a weeping hole that they continue to lick and chew at. They may also be lame on that leg.

So please stay on top of checking your dogs after each walk. The most common places we find these pests are, paws in between the pads, ears, nose, and groin.
Make it a habit to do a thorough check over your dogs entire body. It will not only be beneficial to your dog but will also be beneficial to your wallet!

See a vet immediately if you suspect a grass seed problem, the earlier the problem is detected, the better chance you will have of finding the grass seed before it causes further problems or becomes very difficult to locate!
