🕵️‍♂️ I've been vet nursing for 15 years and have been part of the BVH for over 8 years.

🕵️‍♂️ I grew up in a country town surrounded by animals before moving to the big smoke to pursue my career as a veterinary nurse.

🕵️‍♂️ My hobbies and interests include animals (of course!), cars, photography, fishing and snowboarding.

Congratulations to Dr. Amy for completing her PennHip accreditation 👏

PennHip is a specialised screening test which can be performed at any age. It involves a series of hip radiographs, performed while your dog is under general anaesthesia which determines whether your dog has hip dysplasia, and if so, how severe it potentially can be. There are a limited number of veterinarians in Victoria who are accredited to perform these tests. Our practice is fortunate to have several vets who are all fully accredited.

It was all smiles for Rocky after passing his revisit with flying colours 😍

At first glance, this might just look like a very anxious dog who is not enjoying being in a vet clinic. Unfortunately for this young pup that we met a few weeks ago, it was not the case at all. The little Poodle x who wasn’t even yet a year old, presented with a history of extreme agitation and restlessness for around 8 hours overnight. With tremoring, a very high temperature, and neurological issues, and no response to sedatives, we were unsure as to what may be causing this to happen in this young, healthy dog. After referral to the specialist, the owners then realised that their furry friend had gotten into some of their medication, causing their little pup great distress! Luckily for this little guy, time, medication and fluid therapy assisted in a full recovery. Did you know that so many types of human medications are toxic and can be fatal to dogs and cats, and that this also includes ibuprofen? It is critically important to ensure your pets have absolutely no access to medicine cupboards, handbags or even the pantry, as so many things that are compatible with us, are certainly not compatible with our fur babies.
