Maisie came in for her annual dental 🦷🪥
Although Maisie doesn’t have significant dental disease in terms of her breath, tartar build-up or gingivitis she is a fiend for a tennis ball 🎾
Tennis balls, bricks, stones and bones all wear down teeth, because of this she has significant wear to her enamel which will eventually expose the pulp within the tooth. Once this occurs these teeth need to be closely monitored as this is a straight pathway for bacteria. Even if your furry friend has pearly whites doesn’t mean their mouth is perfectly healthy.
Book in a free dental check with a nurse to discuss dental care for your pets.

A reminder to keep an eye on your furry friends this evening as some are more sensitive to loud noises like fireworks than others

Did you know that Tawny Frogmouth’s aren’t owls? 🦉
It’s often confused with owls because of its owl-like appearance and nocturnal habits. It’s more closely related to nightjars and hummingbirds.

If you see any injured wildlife please call Wildlife Victoria on 8400 7300 before removing them. Wildlife Victoria will inform you on where best to take it next.

‼️Grass Seed Awareness‼️
Grass seeds can be dangerous for pets, they get caught in the pets fur and begin to burrow into the skin. They can cause serious infections, abscess’ and pain. In very rare situations they could even burrow into a body cavity causing complex issues.

It is not uncommon for dogs to have multiple grass seeds embedded under the skin and in different locations (like poor Hector who has a total of 56 grass seeds 🤯)

Signs to look out for would be;
Excessive licking, lumps, bloody discharge or pus.
Grass seeds are more commonly found in feet (between toes), ears, armpits & stomach.

Ways to avoid grass seeds:
- Keep your grass and weeds under control at home with regular maintenance
- Avoid long grass when on walks
- Keep long haired dogs groomed, especially around their feet and ears
- Inspect your dog all over after each walk, making sure you check between and under all of their toes and underneath the ears
