I’m a little behind in the news department but never the less these are results that must be shared !
Huge congratulations to Courtney and Patrice and there gorgeous girl “Kirby” - Australian Champion Sashdan It Takes A Village at Tullaview, who won Reserve cc and Runner Up Best Of Breed at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, in a entry of quality border collies. The only border collie to beat Kirby on the day was her kennel mate Remi, talk about keeping it in the family 🙂 what a wonderful achievement for Kirby it was such exciting news to hear !! Flashback Friday !!
Today we go back to the Border collie national show in Canberra in 2009.
Whilst we were highly successful in both conformation and obedience at this show.. we went there with a dream of taking out top honours in the Obedience and that’s exactly what we did !!
Highest Score in trial at the border collie national in 2009, (highest score in trial in obedience is equivalent to Best in show. )
CH Echovale Great Bear CD HT - Teddy.
Teddy was the epitome of a versatile dog he was a Multi Best in show winner In conformation, in obedience he was a Highest score In Trial winner and in Herding he was an Award of Merit winner. Teddy could turn his paw to anything and not only do it but excell at it !!
Border Collie nationals in Australia are the pinnacle in our breed and to win in any discipline at a national is the ultimate.
I am extremely proud to say that I have owned, trained, handled and in the case of conformation also bred the dogs that have won at the very highest levels at national events here in Australia in 2 different disciplines, conformation and obedience.
Teddy’s rosettes and his beautiful collar for Highest score in Trial at that national are on display in my home, along side Tiamos dog cc and runner up best in show awards !!
Thankyou to our good friend Greg Ritchens who had Teddy in his home and promoted him in conformation when I couldn’t as we had a young family. Thankyou for the great memories Teddy !! With his frozen semen in storage One day we hope to see Teddy pups again.

More wonderful news coming out of the UK, the Border Collie Club of Great Britain recognised the Top Dogs during 2024, I was sent these photos of these beautiful rosettes that were awarded to there owners at a presentation over the weekend.

7 years ago today Sparky gained his Australian Championship show title and these are the words I wrote that on day…
What a day to remember !! Proudly introducing our brand new Australian Champion Sashdan Smoking Hot (AI), at 5 years old there is no good reason why "Sparky" wasn't titled years ago, apart from the fact that I have hardly been out to the shows in the last couple of years and when I did I showed my other dogs. On the occasions when Sparky has been out he has done extreamly well, the very first day he set foot in the show ring he won Best Baby Puppy In Show ( Specialty), and going on from there nearly all of his CC's have been awarded by Breed Specialists or Working Dog Specialists, he has been a Group 1 ( Best In Group Winner), a class in group / In show winner, a Multi Class Winner at our breed Championship shows, a winner at the Royal Melbourne Show and at the 3rd BC National in 2009 he won a very competitive Junior dog class. Sparky is the result of frozen semen that I have from Smokey, his sire is
CH Sashdan Smokin Joe (EXP UK) and
his dam is: Sashdan Harmonious
Thankyou to all of the judges who have awarded Sparky over the years and thankyou to my boy Sparky, I cried my eyes out today as we left the ring you deserved this title years ago but it doesn't matter now we did it today, Thanks Sparky xx

Huge congratulations to Brian, his wife Naomi and there beautiful girl Sirena. (Sashdan secret affair )
What a incredible training journey they have had together, a fully qualified assistant dog and now they have permission for sirena to fly in the cabin along side Brian what an achiement and not often seen here in Australia!!

Well done to my beautiful girl Sirena on obtaining her Public Assistance Test Qualification and Certificate. (November 2024)
Everyday I am continually training with Sirena, along with our joint weekly training with other teams associated with the Forest Lake RSL Assistance Dog Program.
After jumping through hurdles and running round hoops, we have gained permission from Virgin Airlines to be able to fly to Hobart this coming Wednesday, and Sirena being able to travel with me in the cabin.
I believe given the opportunity, she could fly the plane, as she is that clever.
A special thank you to Alasdair for the training and support you have offered us both.
Naome thank you for putting up my frustrations, moods and tears on this Assistance Dog journey, I love you.
Keran and Glenys much love and appreciation for your caring for Sirena.

It’s been noticed by quiet a few people in the last few days that although on opposite sides of the world Arlie and Eddie are litter brothers they both have made themselves very well known in a short amount of time by winning at the most recognised shows in there respective countries.

It was a beautiful litter and we were spoilt for choice with these 2 boys, I’m very proud of them both and to see them both awarded so highly at such a young age has given us all some incredible memories.💕💕

Over night I received some beautiful photos and messages from Discover dogs at Crufts in the UK, at the breed stand for the Border collie club of Great Britain, I’m proud to hear and see quiet a few of the dogs working with the public on the breed stand for the day were bred here or are immediate relatives of dogs bred here in Australia by myself, it’s such a big event, very busy and quiet noisy at times its alot for the dogs to take in but I’ve heard nothing but overwhelmingly good reports, the way theyve handled themselves and how good they were with everyone, congratulations to there owners for all the work they’ve put into each and every dog and congratulations to everyone who set up the border collie breed stand it looks fabulous. Here’s just a few photos that I’ve received so far 🙂

With the worlds biggest and most prestigious dogs show at crufts in the UK this weekend .. this weeks flashback Friday has a crufts memory.
In 2012 we had the opportunity to travel to the UK and I was given the privilege to handle “Smokey “ UK Ch sashdan smokin joe, at this prestigious event. It’s something very special to have a dog that I bred on the other side of the world competing at such an event but something I’ll never forget was the privilege of going there to handle him on the worlds biggest stage. Smokey won Best puppy in show in 2009 at our national border collie show in Canberra and later had the opportunity to travel to the UK, he was owned by Ross Green and Alicia Pennington , and later in his retirement he was totally adored and spoilt by Collette. Smokey was a Best In Show winner and became a champion, he is the sire of many champions and is found behind many top winning border collies today.
As many friends prepare and travel long distances to compete at crufts this weekend we wish everyone much success, good luck and safe travels and as always. I might be on the other side of the world but I’ll be up during the night watching and supporting from far away !!

Friday flashback !!
In 2018 our family travelled to the UK where I had the opportunity to be reunited with 2 very special dogs that I bred here in Australia

Between them both they won Multi Best In Show awards, best in groups, crufts awards, many ccs, and the list goes on and on, they won in England, Scotland and Ireland there’s not much they haven’t accomplished. I will always be very greatful to our very good friends Pete and vonnie Simmons and John Ritchie for our friendship and the incredible opportunity you have given them both and more importantly they are loved endlessly. This photo brings back many many happy memories 💕💕

It’s come to the time where sadly decisions need to be made ! I have really enjoyed these pups. Having 3 pups in the litter has been most enjoyable with lots of time spent playing with each one. One of the 3 pups in this litter has a beautiful family eagerly waiting to give him lots of love and a very spoilt life, what a lucky puppy he is ! This leaves me with these 2 beautiful boys and a very tough decision to make at some point, they are growing and changing each day and there’s things I love about each one of them.
