Did you know over 136,000 Australian horses were sent to the war, serving with the Australian Light Horse and for transport. Dogs were used for carrying messages, detecting explosives, and locating wounded soldiers. And many other animals including camels, donkeys and pigeons were used fro transport, communication and companionship.
