Someone adopt this beautiful boy 🥺🫶

678 days. 22 months. Very nearly 2 years.

That's how long beautiful Aro has been in the shelter, waiting for his turn to find his home.
In this time, approximately 400 animals will have come and gone from the shelter, finding their forever homes while Aro still waits. It simply breaks our hearts to think about.

Aro is a sweet and gentle-natured cat who enjoys some quiet pats and to curl up on your knee for a cuddle. When meeting new people, he can become a little bit reserved, which unfortunately means that he is often overlooked for other cats who appear more confident and affectionate right off the bat.

As if that wasn't enough of a challenge to win adopters over, during his time with us, we have also discovered that poor Aro has been struggling with inflammatory bowel disease. To keep him happy and comfortable, he unfortunately requires medication and a special diet, which often earns Aro a big NO from adopters before they've even met him. 😢

Our greatest wish for this year is for Aro to FINALLY find the wonderful home he deserves. We'd love for Aro to be out of the shelter before he reaches his 2-year anniversary, which gives us exactly 52 days!

We're going to do the best we can to get Aro out there by posting him as much as possible every week until he finds his home. Please help us out and do your part by SHARING, SHARING, SHARING all of his posts!

✨ Annie is looking for her forever home ✨

We have had the pleasure of giving this little girl some respite away from the scary shelter, after being dumped by her family over two months ago 😭

• 14 years old
• Fox Terrier X
• Zippy little lady
• No cats or birds
• Can live peacefully with another doggo after a successful meet and greet 🥰

Miss Annie is everything you would expect in an older doggo + more. She loves a cuddle, a nice walk and to just be near you at all times, her zippy nature means she is constantly on the go, happy to sniff, have some zoomies and to chase her ball 😍

Due to Annie's age, she is beginning to lose her hearing and potentially some of her eyesight, unfortunately this means most people will overlook her sweet soul instantly when visiting the shelter 😭

Annie has taken a little longer to settle in my home, which has been expected after such a long shelter stay, she will need some time to settle in and really start to let that personality shine 😍

Annie will require a mature family, dedicated to helping her settle in and communicate effectively with hand signals and vibration.
She is extremely food motivated which has made teaching her to focus, sit and shake, a breeze 🥰

Watching this scared little girl, slowly trust us to come out of her shell each day and show some s***k, has been so beautiful to witness.

Let Annie be the reminder, that animals are a lifetime commitment.

Annie is looking for a mature, older human who has a quiet home, the time, and unconditional love to help this girl live out her final years, as safely and as happily as possible.

✨ Ruby has found her forever home ✨

We have had the absolute honour of fostering this little girl over the past week until she gets desexed on June 20th

• Yorkshire Terrier X Pomeranian
• 1 year and 7 months old
• Under 5kgs
• Toilet trained and great at using her indoor potty
• Happy to be in your arms or by your feet
• Medium grooming requirements, she does have an undercoat that needs to be blown as the seasons change
• Awesome with dogs and with supervision, cats
• Perfect age to learn 😍

Ruby would best suit a quiet home preferable with another small dog or cat. She is not big on loud noises and movement, so at this stage we are not looking at homes with young children

Ruby has fit into our schedule, like she has lived here her entire life, she loves a cuddle and being by your side all the time 😍

We think she will make an older human, possibly a widower, extremely happy.
She has helped heal a part of my soul and we have only known one another 7 days 🥺🫶

Ruby will be with us until June 20th, where she will go off to be desexed and hopefully find her forever home 🥺🫶

Whilst we have approximately a four week wait for Lilah's necropsy results, I just want to tread in the side of caution when walking through these areas 😭

We do not know what it is or where she came into contact, just the route that we took that day

This toxin destroyed my baby and it was the most horrific thing to watch her decline and she is a big girl!! I could not imagine the damage it could do on a small baby 😭

Until we have results back, it is just not worth the risk, I am eternally grateful I chose to leave Willow at home 😭

I will update everybody once her results come back in 😭

My soul dog, took her final breath in the early hours of friday morning 💔💔💔
13 hours after coming into contact with a toxin/bait, on our walk around our neighbourhood 😭

I am utterly devastated and still in shock
Lilah has been my entire world for 9 years and it was not her time to go 😭

Owning a reactive dog, is not for the faint hearted, my entire world had to adjust to Lilah's extensive needs.
Lilah could open locked doors and windows, jump your 6ft fence if you gave her the opportunity, and she would destroy the indestructible 😂

Finding the right trainer, who understood Lilah, gave us so much confidence and freedom to begin safely exploring Victoria and visiting all my favourite places, I am so grateful I was able to take my baby to so many of my special spaces 🌱

I have never had a soul tie, as big as what I shared with Lilah - she understood me and I understood her, a truly unbreakable bond.

The love of my life, the bestest of girls and the goodest of all dogs,
Thank you,
For being the definition of unconditional love,
For never hurting me (until you left this world 😭)
For always trusting I had your back,
For showing me a love, I never knew existed
Thank you for shaping me, into the woman I have become
Thank you, for everything, my girl 🥺🫶

WHAT YOU DON'T SEE AT THE DOG GROOMERS.......
You dropped your dog off at the salon and picked them up few hours later - fluffy, fresh, and happy. But what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg.

You didn’t see your groomer arrive early to open up the salon, disinfect tools, lay out fresh towels, and check the day’s appointments. You didn’t see them look over your dog from nose to tail before even lifting a brush - checking the coat condition, skin, eyes, ears, nails, and weight.

You didn’t see the careful way they clipped around a wriggly paw, or how they paused to let your dog calm down during the bath. You didn’t notice the matting hidden beneath your dog’s topcoat, or the way the groomer worked slowly to avoid hurting the skin beneath it.

You weren’t there when they spotted a red patch of irritated skin, or a small lump you hadn’t noticed. You heard them gently mention it to you at collection - not to worry you, but because they genuinely care about your dog’s wellbeing.

And after you left, you didn’t see the clean-down , the floor swept, tables cleaned, blades oiled, messages replied to, notes written up for your next visit, and laundry on again.

All of that… for a price that’s often lower than what you’d pay for your own haircut. And your hairdresser?
They don’t have to bathe you, clip your nails, or hold you still while you try to bite the brush.

The truth is ……. dog grooming is so much more than a haircut.

It’s about health, hygiene, comfort, and trust. It’s about knowing dog anatomy, coat types, skin conditions, behaviour management, handling skills, and safe sc******ng techniques. It’s a profession that takes training, practice, and patience.
Most groomers got into this work because they love dogs. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be paid fairly for the physical, emotional, and skilled work they do every single day.

If your dog leaves their groomer happy, healthy and looking good - it’s not by luck. It’s because you have got a good groomer.
So next time, take a moment to thank them. Leave a review.

Tip them if you can. And above all - don’t undervalue them.
They’re doing far more than just washing the dog.
