We recently launched an education campaign about positive reinforcement training because we are concerned dog-loving viewers will be misinformed by Channel 10's upcoming new show Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly Australia, which is based on outdated, quick-fix and aversive dog training methods.
We are calling pet owners to with rewards-based and force-free training and help prevent pet surrenders to already overcrowded animal shelters!
You can follow our FB page for commentary by our force-free trainers on humane and lasting solutions to dog behaviour problems featured in the upcoming episodes, which begin on July 13.
Managing dog behaviour can be a challenge but achievable with positive solutions!

I'm super excited to share this post! I have been working on this for a long time. I wanted to first give a shout out to my inspirations if I may. I was inspired to create this after seeing the awesome Play Infographic work of Doggie Drawings by Lili Chin and Dr. Mikel Delgado of What Your Cat Wants, but that inspiration combined with getting to know .png’s art really brought it together. This is the same artist who has created images for my Fundamentally Feline t-shirts and other swag items. She is so talented! My hope is to bring you an entire series of these on a variety of topics (in all of my spare time!)
Please share far and wide. If you are a vet clinic, shelter or rescue group and you would like to have a poster for your space, please visit my printful shop to purchase a full sized poster (12x18). Here is that link https://www.fundamentallyfeline.com/products/foraging-101-infographic/

🐱 ‘Can cat caregivers reliably assess acute pain in cats using the Feline Grimace Scale (FGS)?’ Short answer - Yes, they can!
🌎 In a recent study, over 1,500 caregivers from 66 countries used the FGS to score ten images of cats, and the results compared to scores assigned by experienced veterinary surgeons. The FGS uses five ‘action units’ - ear position, orbital tightening, muzzle tension, whiskers change and head position, each of which is assigned a score from zero (absent) to two (obviously present).
📊 Total FGS and individual action unit scores were not significantly different between caregivers and veterinarians, except for muzzle tension, and demographic variation (eg age, gender) did not affect the caregiver’s ability to assess pain using the FGS.
🌟 The FGS could be a useful tool to direct clients to and guide treatment decisions, particularly when monitoring for signs of pain post-operatively.
💻 The Feline Grimace Scale is available here https://www.felinegrimacescale.com/ and as an app 📱

Sweet Daphne watching the world go by while relaxing + mister Ray snufflin’ for scattered treats. Learning that the world is a safe and fun place ✅
Frank the #bengal has been quite tricky to get in the carrier (most cat owners will relate!) We brought the carrier into the house to live as part of the furniture. We tossed a treat in and Frank enthusiastically followed it. We threw a couple more treats as he went in & out. Then he started waiting inside the carrier for us to deliver the treat 💪 and then we could practise closing and opening the door

Don’t “Harley” and his teachers make the best team? 🤩 Trainer Sam suggested practising ‘puppy ping pong’ at the park with lots more distractions and we think this guy is nailing it 💪
