Valley has been adopted! 💕
This delightful young Mally pup came to us at 8 months old, his previous owners did not want to claim him from the pound after he had been picked up as a stray. So Valley came into our care and stayed with us for a few months so he could be desexed and rehomed when he was old enough.
But even before then, we had a hunch about who might be able to provide the perfect home for this lovely fellow and so a meet was arranged for a few weeks after his surgery.
And sure enough, Valley hit it off with his new Mally girlfriend Pipaluk and the 2 week trial began. It doesn't always go smoothly, there are usually some little issues to sort out, but not in this case.
Valley just fitted straight into his new family, and boy, what a great life he has now! Lots of walks, splashing around in the river, plenty of rough-housing and playtime with P**i, lots of sleeping and, best of all, lots of love and cuddles from his new owner, C-J.
We can't thank you enough C-J for providing the perfect home for Valley, he is a special boy and he truly deserves the wonderful life he now has as part of your family! 🥰

Rosky - 1 year old Husky boy needing a new home 🐾
Young Rosky is a handsome fellow with stunning blue eyes and plenty of Husky-energy!
He had been surrendered to a local shelter due to not getting along with the family cat, so he would not be suitable for a home that has cats or other small pets.
Rosky loves to chase and explore, so his walks must always be on lead and he will require the usual secure yard with shelter and 6 foot high fencing and gates.
Being an exuberant young fellow who can play a bit rough when excited, any children will need to be in their teens. But when he's not in play-mode he's also happy just chilling out on his own, either indoors or outside.
He is quite social with most other dogs, so he could be an only-dog or go to a home where he will have a canine girlfriend of similar size that will tolerate his playfulness.
For more information on Rosky please check out his full profile on our website: https://arcticrescue.org.au/adopt/meet-the-dogs/

Jay Jay is 10 years old today!
Jay Jay was a very sad surrender case, due to health issues his owner was not able to look after him any more and was devastated that he had to part with him.
So this lovely old chap was welcomed as one of our long-term fosters, and is enjoying life mooching around with his senior Husky lady friend, Possum.
Jay Jay was found to have hyperthyroidism and is now on daily medication to get his levels back to normal, however they are still being monitored to make sure we get it right.
He's a happy, contented fellow, he's not the most active and prefers to bark at the rabbits rather than chasing them, but he does enjoy a short walk now and then!
Happy Birthday Jay Jay, we hope you have many more. 💕

Ella - 5 yo Husky girl needing a new home 🐾
Ella is a gorgeous little lass with stunning blue eyes that will melt your heart. But don’t be fooled by that innocent look, this little lass is an absolute bundle of energy and playfulness!
Being the typical Husky, Ella will require the usual secure yard with shelter and 6 foot high fences and gates, walks always on lead, and any children to be in their teens.
Ella loves to chase and has quite a strong hunting instinct, so she would not be suitable for a home that has cats or other small pets.
Ella has lived in a multi-dog household, so we would like her to go to a home where she will have a canine companion of similar size that will tolerate her playfulness.
For more information on Ella please check out her full profile on our website: https://arcticrescue.org.au/adopt/meet-the-dogs/

Update on Humphrey...
Some of you may remember Mally boy Humphrey, who came to us back in April with huge patches of bare skin on his neck and body, and was then diagnosed with Cushing's disease.
Over the next month or two, Humphrey's coat continued to fall out in clumps until he was almost completely bald, apart from a few tufts of fur here and there.
But then effects of his treatment began to show and his coat gradually started to grow back, even on his tail that used to look like a stick! Now after 7 months of medication to manage his Cortisol levels, he has transformed into the most handsome brown bear - hard to believe it's the same dog!
He's still a bit wary of strangers and has other health issues we are managing, but for now he is loving life and enjoying digging big holes!
Thank you to everyone who donated to support and sponsor Humphrey, your contributions towards his ongoing care and medical needs are very much appreciated! 💕
If anyone would like to help Humphrey and the other dogs we have in our care, you can make a one off or monthly donation, or sponsor a dog from our website donations page: https://arcticrescue.org.au/donate/
Thank you! 🐾

Loki is still looking for love!
After being in what we thought would his forever home for over a year, Loki was returned to us through no fault of his own along with his companion, Zelda. Since then he has been in foster care and sadly, Zelda passed over the rainbow bridge not long after.
So now Loki is on his own and still seeking his forever family. We are hoping someone will come along that has room in their heart and their home for this lovely gentle fellow.
To find out more about Loki and the other dogs we have available for adoption, please check out our website: www.arcticrescue.org.au/adopt/meet-the-dogs/

Bandit needs a new home!
This lovely Husky gentleman came to us from a regional pound where he had been surrendered by his previous owner as they were moving.
Bandit is a very affectionate fellow who loves a cuddle and a belly-rub, but is also happy chilling out on his own outside or on the couch.
Don’t be fooled by Bandit’s age, he looks and acts much younger than his 10 years and is still quite active and loves going for walks.
He has had some training and basic obedience (with the usual selective Husky-hearing!) and will sit and wait for food. He is easy to walk on lead but is very interested in chasing wildlife and exploring, so as typical for the breed he can never be trusted off-lead.
This cheeky, affectionate, easy-going boy will make a wonderful addition to a family willing to give an older dog a chance.

We have quite a few dogs that have been available for adoption for quite a while with very little interest, as well as a number of dogs in our care that are undergoing long-term medical treatment.
As with most rescue groups, are still experiencing a large number of surrender requests that sadly we are unable to assist as we are already over capacity.
So if you have a place in your heart and home, experience with the arctic breeds and are interested in fostering or adopting a new fur-friend, we would love to hear from you!
Please head to our website for more information on the dogs and to apply:
https://arcticrescue.org.au/adopt/
And even if you can’t adopt or foster yourself, please share with anyone who might be able to help!

WE ARE BACK - PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!
All efforts to get our original page back from the hijackers have proved unsuccessful so far, leaving us no choice but to start again.
So here we are, new page, slightly different name, but the same group of dedicated volunteers doing what we've been doing since 2015, helping to rescue, rehome and rehabilitate the beautiful Arctic breeds.
Now we need your help to get the word out there that we are back, and this is our new page.
The last Genuine post on our original FB page was on Aug 23rd 2024. All posts after that were the work of hackers, who essentially stole our page's identity, posted heart wrenching, fake posts to get likes, and then renamed the page "Dog Rescue".
So please spread the word, like, follow and comment, so we can get those algorithms working for us.
We will be posting a few updates that have happened in the past little while, so watch this new space.
And thank you to all our dedicated followers!
