Sparrow was part of a group of Huskies surrendered to a regional pound that have come into our care over a period of months as foster-carers and spaces became available.
After the recent loss of her beloved Mallie X Husky girl Kira, Lisa applied to foster to help her and her family try to fill the huge gap in their heart that Kira had left. They also have a Mallie boy, Shadow, who was missing his fur-companion, as well as a cat! So the likelihood of finding a perfect match was pretty slim, but luckily many of the dogs in this group had been around cats.
Sparrow was the next one needing a foster-carer that fitted the age and cat-friendly criteria. At first, she was very picky when it came to what food she would eat, but Lisa tried lots of options and now she will eat whatever Shadow eats. She was also a little too over enthusiastic around Shadow to start with so a bit of adjustment was needed there too, but now they are besties and even join together in a howl-along!
All in all, Sparrow has settled in well thanks to a dedicated family that persevered with every little challenge, addressing habits typical of a dog that has not had the best start to life.
Now Sparrow has landed on her feet she is no longer in foster care, she has become a "foster-fail" and is now a permanent part of the family. We are sure Kira is looking down on them with approval! π
Congratulations Sparrow, Lisa and her family, and I reckon calling out to Shadow and Sparrow at the same time, may be a bit of a tongue twister! π
