LOKI HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
We are thrilled to announce that Loki has finally found his new home - and this one is truly forever!
Loki first came into our care way back in June 2021 as one part of the dynamic duo, Loki and Zelda. They had a false start back then when the couple who fostered the pair straight from the shelter decided they were too much for them.
Bonded pairs are always difficult to rehome and these two were no exception, so they stayed in our care with our wonderful foster carers Jonathan & Gemma until August 2022, when finally we thought we had struck gold and found the perfect family who adopted them. However 19 months later, the family's circumstances had changed and they needed to return them to us very quickly.
This pair had been given so many false starts through no fault of their own, and they came back into care with Jon & Gemma who we can't thank enough for their continued dedication and reliability. Sadly, Zelda suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in October leaving Loki on his own and still needing a home.
Loki was now 8 years old, and again the likelihood of someone wanting to adopt an older dog is nearly as hard to find as someone wanting a pair.
However, in late February we received the perfect application for Loki. Although the applicant was quite a distance away, he had extensive experience with Malamutes and had sadly just lost his last Mally companion to cancer. It's not often we get interest in an older dog, and Roger was more than happy to make the trek to meet Loki and fill that void in his life.
And once they met, there was no turning back - Loki was off on a new adventure and a new life, this time for good!
We thank Roger for welcoming Loki into the forever home he has wanted and deserved for such a long time.
Congratulations Loki and Roger, we are so happy for you both! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿพ

Delilah was found as a stray before coming into our care almost a year ago with the help of Homes for Huskies who had rescued her from the pound.
She is a lovely-natured Mally girl and was a great companion for our young boy Teddy while she was in foster care, but we knew the right home would come along one day. And it finally did - a wonderful new home with Ema N Burton Tavete!
Delilah is now enjoying the love and attention she deserves, is making new friends at the dog park and is generally getting spoiled! Such a wonderful outcome for her and her new forever family! ๐Ÿ’•
If you are interested in adopting or fostering a dog and meet our requirements, please head to our website to apply: www.arcticrescue.org.au/adopt/meet-the-dogs/
Even if the right dog for you isn't on our website yet, please apply anyway as we will have more dogs available soon.

It is with a heavy heart that we write this post about the beautiful Ella.
Ella came to us from a regional pound back in July and has been in foster care ever since. She was a vibrant, active girl who loved your attention and playing with the other dogs she lived with.
Ella was soon to go on trial in her forever home, but sadly on Tuesday she fell gravely ill from some kind of neurological episode which left her unable to move. With little chance of recovery we made the difficult but kindest decision to spare her of any more pain, suffering and fear, and gave her her wings.
Run free gorgeous girl, remembering you were much loved by your foster carers, Donna, Ralph & Sandy and especially Dave who took such wonderful care of you for the last five months of your short life.
We are so sad that you never got to start your new life with a new family that wanted you.
Forever in our hearts... ๐Ÿ’•

DON'T FORGET THAT YOU CAN RECYCLE YOUR CANS & BOTTLES AND SUPPORT ARV!
Arctic Rescue Victoria is registered with Victoria's Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic), so if youโ€™d like to help us raise funds please collect and return your containers to one of the many refund points.
It may be only 10 cents per can or bottle but it all adds up, and thanks to some of our very active collectors (great effort Dave!) ARV had over $600 donated in the last financial year.
It's easy to nominate ARV as your charity - you can either download the app for your zone and use the search tool to find Arctic Rescue Victoria, use our Donation Partner ID C2000008705 or simply scan the barcode at a collection point.
For more information on the scheme and to find your nearest collection/refund point please visit the CDS website: https://cdsvic.org.au/how-to-make-a-return
It's another great way our supporters can get involved, raise some money while helping to save our environment. ๐Ÿพ
And a huge thank you to those who are already supporting ARV with their container deposits! ๐Ÿ’•

LUCIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! ๐Ÿพ
Lucie came into ARV care back in April 2024 as an unclaimed stray from a regional pound.
With foster carers hard to find, she went into care with Vince and Tiff who have come to our aid on numerous occasions when we've had an urgent request for help. We again Thankyou. A great foster care family who have numerous giant breeds to ensure any dog in their care learns fantastic dog socialisation skills, fast. ๐Ÿคฃ Coincidentally, Simba had also been in foster care with them back in 2020.
I met Lucie in the first few days and thought, she might be a good match for Simba. We lost our beautiful Sammy a year before, but I still wasn't ready. However, Lucie stayed in the back of my mind. Fast forward to December and I met her again and now I felt maybe was the right time.
Simba is somewhat bemused by the entrance of Lucie who is several years younger than him and ready to rumble, but no, she's fast learning from the great master about quite time, calm and whose the boss, and she is improving every day.
She's a gorgeous girl and it always amazed me that she had very little interest or suitable applicants. Perhaps that just tells me that she was always going to be the one.
Welcome home Lucie the Lunatic. xoxo Robyn, David and Simba. ๐Ÿ’•

Beautiful Betsy has been Adopted! ๐Ÿ’•
Betsy came to us from a pound where her owners had surrendered her after she had already been through a few homes.
Always a special girl, Betsy just craved affection and company, and wanted nothing more than to please. We had her in our care for over a year waiting for just the right home to come along, and eventually it did - the wait was well worthwhile!
Betsy is now in the loving home of Lisa and Ray, getting the wonderful life that she deserves with many walks to the beach and park, charming the neighborhood with her big Mally smile as she goes. And then there is rest time snoozing in comfort on her bed, getting plenty of cuddles and generally living the life of luxury!
Thank you so much Lisa and Ray for giving Betsy the best life she could have wished for, we are so happy for her! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Valley has been adopted! ๐Ÿ’•
This delightful young Mally pup came to us at 8 months old, his previous owners did not want to claim him from the pound after he had been picked up as a stray. So Valley came into our care and stayed with us for a few months so he could be desexed and rehomed when he was old enough.
But even before then, we had a hunch about who might be able to provide the perfect home for this lovely fellow and so a meet was arranged for a few weeks after his surgery.
And sure enough, Valley hit it off with his new Mally girlfriend Pipaluk and the 2 week trial began. It doesn't always go smoothly, there are usually some little issues to sort out, but not in this case.
Valley just fitted straight into his new family, and boy, what a great life he has now! Lots of walks, splashing around in the river, plenty of rough-housing and playtime with P**i, lots of sleeping and, best of all, lots of love and cuddles from his new owner, C-J.
We can't thank you enough C-J for providing the perfect home for Valley, he is a special boy and he truly deserves the wonderful life he now has as part of your family! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Rosky - 1 year old Husky boy needing a new home ๐Ÿพ
Young Rosky is a handsome fellow with stunning blue eyes and plenty of Husky-energy!
He had been surrendered to a local shelter due to not getting along with the family cat, so he would not be suitable for a home that has cats or other small pets.
Rosky loves to chase and explore, so his walks must always be on lead and he will require the usual secure yard with shelter and 6 foot high fencing and gates.
Being an exuberant young fellow who can play a bit rough when excited, any children will need to be in their teens. But when he's not in play-mode he's also happy just chilling out on his own, either indoors or outside.
He is quite social with most other dogs, so he could be an only-dog or go to a home where he will have a canine girlfriend of similar size that will tolerate his playfulness.
For more information on Rosky please check out his full profile on our website: https://arcticrescue.org.au/adopt/meet-the-dogs/

Jay Jay is 10 years old today!
Jay Jay was a very sad surrender case, due to health issues his owner was not able to look after him any more and was devastated that he had to part with him.
So this lovely old chap was welcomed as one of our long-term fosters, and is enjoying life mooching around with his senior Husky lady friend, Possum.
Jay Jay was found to have hyperthyroidism and is now on daily medication to get his levels back to normal, however they are still being monitored to make sure we get it right.
He's a happy, contented fellow, he's not the most active and prefers to bark at the rabbits rather than chasing them, but he does enjoy a short walk now and then!
Happy Birthday Jay Jay, we hope you have many more. ๐Ÿ’•
