Sparrow was part of a group of Huskies surrendered to a regional pound that have come into our care over a period of months as foster-carers and spaces became available.
After the recent loss of her beloved Mallie X Husky girl Kira, Lisa applied to foster to help her and her family try to fill the huge gap in their heart that Kira had left. They also have a Mallie boy, Shadow, who was missing his fur-companion, as well as a cat! So the likelihood of finding a perfect match was pretty slim, but luckily many of the dogs in this group had been around cats.
Sparrow was the next one needing a foster-carer that fitted the age and cat-friendly criteria. At first, she was very picky when it came to what food she would eat, but Lisa tried lots of options and now she will eat whatever Shadow eats. She was also a little too over enthusiastic around Shadow to start with so a bit of adjustment was needed there too, but now they are besties and even join together in a howl-along!
All in all, Sparrow has settled in well thanks to a dedicated family that persevered with every little challenge, addressing habits typical of a dog that has not had the best start to life.
Now Sparrow has landed on her feet she is no longer in foster care, she has become a "foster-fail" and is now a permanent part of the family. We are sure Kira is looking down on them with approval! πŸ’•
Congratulations Sparrow, Lisa and her family, and I reckon calling out to Shadow and Sparrow at the same time, may be a bit of a tongue twister! πŸ˜„

MAYA - 4 year old female Husky
Beautiful Maya is finally in foster care with us after being at the Burwood RSPCA for 13 months - you heard it right, over a year!
We can't thank the wonderful team and kennel staff at the RSPCA for caring for Maya for all those months, in the hope that a place would eventually be found for her. And finally after we had a couple of successful adoptions, we then had room for Maya and could take her into our care.
For a dog that has been in a shelter for so long, Maya is a lovely, well-adjusted girl and she has settled quickly into her new digs with her own big yard. It is a reflection on the wonderful care she received at the RSPCA and the bond the staff had developed with her that they were all there on her last day at the shelter to say goodbye. πŸ’• Thank you RSPCA!
But Maya would still love to find her forever home, so if you are looking for a spunky Husky girl to join your family, please go to our website for more information about her: www.arcticrescue.org.au

LOKI HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
We are thrilled to announce that Loki has finally found his new home - and this one is truly forever!
Loki first came into our care way back in June 2021 as one part of the dynamic duo, Loki and Zelda. They had a false start back then when the couple who fostered the pair straight from the shelter decided they were too much for them.
Bonded pairs are always difficult to rehome and these two were no exception, so they stayed in our care with our wonderful foster carers Jonathan & Gemma until August 2022, when finally we thought we had struck gold and found the perfect family who adopted them. However 19 months later, the family's circumstances had changed and they needed to return them to us very quickly.
This pair had been given so many false starts through no fault of their own, and they came back into care with Jon & Gemma who we can't thank enough for their continued dedication and reliability. Sadly, Zelda suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in October leaving Loki on his own and still needing a home.
Loki was now 8 years old, and again the likelihood of someone wanting to adopt an older dog is nearly as hard to find as someone wanting a pair.
However, in late February we received the perfect application for Loki. Although the applicant was quite a distance away, he had extensive experience with Malamutes and had sadly just lost his last Mally companion to cancer. It's not often we get interest in an older dog, and Roger was more than happy to make the trek to meet Loki and fill that void in his life.
And once they met, there was no turning back - Loki was off on a new adventure and a new life, this time for good!
We thank Roger for welcoming Loki into the forever home he has wanted and deserved for such a long time.
Congratulations Loki and Roger, we are so happy for you both! πŸ’•πŸΎ

Delilah was found as a stray before coming into our care almost a year ago with the help of Homes for Huskies who had rescued her from the pound.
She is a lovely-natured Mally girl and was a great companion for our young boy Teddy while she was in foster care, but we knew the right home would come along one day. And it finally did - a wonderful new home with Ema N Burton Tavete!
Delilah is now enjoying the love and attention she deserves, is making new friends at the dog park and is generally getting spoiled! Such a wonderful outcome for her and her new forever family! πŸ’•
