A world traveller who’s taken his breeder/owner/handler and our salon owner Hannah around the globe. Together they have sat in first class seating with Levi at foot in the USA, stayed in beautiful hotels in Germany for the world dog show and visited countless world sites and scenes together (pictured overlooking the water in Croatia).

Levi is from Hannah’s first litter of Border Collies and is now a retired 11 year old senior couch potato.

We at Groomer Haz It couldn’t be more proud of this old man and all the friends he’s helped us meet.

Winter/Cool Weather Grooming

Why should you continue grooming appointments in cooler weather?

“I want to grow the hair out longer to keep my dog warm” - This is a common statement. However, each time the dog gets damp or wet or as the coat grows longer the chances of matting increase exponentially. This matting is painful and if the dog is wet it freezes them down to the skin like wearing a soaking wet wool jumper.

In addition our dogs need their sanitary areas regularly clipped to prevent infection as well as painful matting in the groin area as they move.

Paw pads that are overgrown means the dog can’t grip the floor and can cause joint issues.

Nails that are overgrown can break, rip & tear as well as cause deformities in how the dog uses their feet thus resulting in joint issues as well.

Larger breeds and double coated breeds or older dogs can find it really uncomfortable and painful to withstand increased length appointments when overdue.

Matting needs to be shaved off and ends up very short and at times this needs to be done when it’s still cold as in Victoria it’s cold until August (that’s 3-4 months away).

Ask us about a tidy or long coated maintenance groom for your dog this Winter. You can even take advantage of our new Membership.

Did you know that we at Groomer Haz It salons complete behavioural grooms? Our head of grooming is a qualified behaviourist with many years experience with behavioural grooming. This is anything from being terrified of the dryer, having previous negative grooming experiences or all the way through to biters. Each dog is treated individually with reports taken at every appointment to identify triggers and ensure that they’re able to adapt smoothly to the grooming processes. We can adapt to have no other animals around, a second groomer present just for them or varied equipment to reduce stress.
