Thankyou to the Mount Gambier Pony Club for putting on such a well run event this weekend. Penelope and Crumble produced a nice dressage test (74%), a rubbish show jump round π¬, to finish it off with a great cross country leg.
Congrats to first and second Annie and Lacey, fab to see these littlies growing and getting more confident!
My little mate, helping me check the cows this evening π₯°
Ponies can test our resiliency at times! Penelope's little arms are no match for Eli when he has his own ideas on which way to go. She pushed through the frustration and had some good moments though!!
Eli being the goodest, good boy, teaching George how to steer!!
Ponies learning to jump. Penelope on Eli and Maddie on Ella π₯°
We had such fun on sunday, that the obstacle course will be left up in the arena until wednesday morning (if it doesn't blow away in this wind!!). Feel free to pop in for a go around π
I know there are risks involved with keeping horses as a herd. Sometimes they get kicked or bitten, they run around like idiots and hurt themselves or they rip each others rugs. You can't feed 'em, you can't catch 'em and they don't want to leave their mates when you want a ride.
I absolutely understand the reasoning for keeping horses paddocked individually (most of the horses here are kept in individual paddocks, including mine at times).
But oh how my heart sings when i see them rejoicing in each others company, mutually grooming, exercising (so important for my fatties) and just enjoying being a 'herd'!
In this video i had just introduced Kip (thoroughbred) to the herd, after Shiloh, Crumble and Eli had been together for a few days. They have all been together before, but not for a few months and needed to establish an order!
Fun ride with these kiddos today. Fearuring Eli gorging himself, Darcy rolling in something dead and later getting shocked by the electric fence π¬
Shiloh and I braved our first show together at Mil Lel yesterday.
We had such a great time and I could not be happier with how well behaved Shiloh was.
Thanks to all the volunteers who make these events possible and lovely to see the great sportsmanship between competitors.
Love these two beautiful girls π₯°
Shiloh and Crumble stretching their legs a little π
One of the best things about Peweena, is the little community of people who share our love of horses π₯°
