Our director, Dr Joey enjoyed a quick week in Cancun, Mexico 🇲🇽 last week for the World Cattle 🐄 conference!
1500 delegates all up. 450 local Mexicans, 19 Australians among the make up of vets for the 2024 meet up.

This week our Vet Nurse Izzy and Practice Manager Amanda flew interstate to attend the VNCA Conference in Adelaide, South Australia. Our Team pursue continuing education to update our skills, and improve our standard of care provided for our Clients and Patients. The Veterinary Nursing Council of Australia hold education provided by Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Nurses from all over the world, including this year’s international speakers from America.

Felicity Sutherland
Registered Veterinary Nurse
Felicity has always wanted to work with animals and after volunteering at the Wingecarribee animal shelter in her younger years, she went in to complete Animal Studies in 2009 and Veterinary Nursing in 2014.

Felicity moved to the UK in 2015 then New Zealand in 2016, taking her pug x beagle, Franklin along with her. She now lives back in the Southern Highlands with her family, both human and fur!

When not working, Felicity enjoys curling up with a cup of tea and a good book!

Registered Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV In Veterinary Nursing; Registered Veterinary Nurse)
Izzy grew up in the Southern Highlands where she found her love of animals. she gained experience and skill through her job at a local animal shelter and looking after Dingos. During her study Izzy gained placement with a busy, mixed animal clinic where she worked for a number of years. Izzy graduated her Cert. II Animal Studies in 2015 and her Cert. IV Vet Nursing in 2016.

Izzy brings her many years experience to create a caring and positive visit, for all patients large and small. Izzy loves all parts of her job, but is especially interested in surgery, pathology and wildlife.

When not at work, Izzy loves 4-Wheel Driving and exploring the hiking trails around the Southern Highlands with her Golden Retriever, Billie.

Amanda Spitzer
Registered Veterinary Nurse & Practice Manager (Certificate IV In Veterinary Nursing; Certificate in Office Administration; Certificate in Agricultural Studies)
Amanda completed a Certificate IV In Veterinary Nursing In 1999. She then obtained certificates in office administration and agricultural studies shortly after.

Amanda has worked in various clinics in the southern highlands and in Melbourne for veterinary wholesalers and global veterinary laboratories .

Amanda utilises her experience and knowledge when carrying out administration tasks for the clinic.

However, will always be keen to assist our Vet Nurses, especially when puppies are involved.

At home, she's busy mum of two boys and two 4 legged kids, including the (4 legged) one in her picture!

Helen McLean
Veterinarian
Helen qualified as a veterinarian in South Africa in 2007. She focusses predominantly on small animals with a special interest in internal medicine, diagnostic imaging and clinical pathology.

In South Africa, Helen divided her time between private practice and outreach work in underprivileged communities. She is passionate about welfare and the immeasurable benefits of the human-animal bond.

In 2021 Helen emigrated to Australia with her husband and young son. She has fallen in love with the country and its unique wildlife!

As I approach 80 years young I am still in love with the science of Veterinary medicine .
We are entering exciting times as the technology and pharmacology of human medicine is becoming available to our animals.
My interests include the health and disease of the skin, the eyes, the nerves and the cat as a species.

I have a dog named Holly that loves to accompany me on my bike.
