The Non Ridden Horse
I often hear people say that a horse is "wasted" if it is not ridden (or driven). Many people choose not to ride for a huge variety of reasons, this is a legitimate choice and one I made for myself a few years ago. Non ridden does not necessarily mean that the horse isn't spending quality learning or exercise time with their human it can incorporate groundwork, liberty and trail walking for example. Or maybe you don't do anything but love and care for your horse. It does not mean the person is anti riding. The original reason I chose not to ride was because my available time for riding is so incredibly ad hoc e.g. maybe I could ride Sunday, but then not for 3 weeks, then 4 months, then 4 days in a row. I felt this inconsistency unfair to my horses. I still have rideable horses but also have a collection that are unrideable, either aged, too small, too young or have health issues. I cannot say I will never ride again but the change to an unridden relationship with my horses has been amazing on many levels and feels good. I value every second I spend with them and they do not have to do anything to "earn ther keep". I do not believe a horse in the paddock is going to "waste" as long as they are loved and cared for. Non ridden is a lifestyle choice. If it feels right for you, embrace it. I would love to see your non ridden photo's

Pony Club Members of Australia!!!

Before you sign up for 2020 read the insurance policy from Gow Gates. Not just the overview but the Master Policy. Every club should read it!!!! Know what you’re paying for and then DEMAND BETTER!!!!

Abbie still has not received a cent from the personal injury insurance coverage from PCAQ. Lloyd’s of London finance Gow-Gates that claim they are just the middle man. Lourdes won’t release money to a minor. That’s right. The same children they insure they won’t release the money too.

Abbie has a legal trust waiting for her funds.
We have had to engage legal assistance. If they won’t pay my daughter her entitled insurance with her extensive injuries what happens to your child if this happens to them.

We need to act now. Every member of every club. I ask you to contact your state representatives and demand better insurance. It’s too late for Abbie. It’s not to late for you.
No parent should have to worry about this and have to fundraise to future proof for their child when insurance premiums run into the millions but claims are delayed and are severely undervalued in the worst case scenario. $200k for no use of her body nor ability to breath. It’s time to speak up. I’m just one mum but together we are a community.
Read the policy and make a call. Don’t just pay the money and trust that your child is covered.
