[PUPDATE] Hugie is currently on trial with two families. 🐕 ❤️

This is Hugo.

He’s a V.cation alumni and a certified good boy.

His parents have a once-in-lifetime family/career opportunity to relocate to Alaska. It’s with heavy hearts that they need to find Hugo a new fam-bam.

Alaska isn’t really friendly to short coated dogs and as you all know, V’s aren’t a fan of being cooped up all the time.

He’s 3 years old and is from Aceweis. He’s had good training and grew up with a toddler who he’s been very gentle with. He’s always been a good guest while he’s stayed with Trixie and me.

His Mum is very proud of him because one night he alerted them to a burglar and chased them off.

If you, or someone you know would love a Vizsla, and would prefer to not have their life turned upside down until they finish with their puppy nonsense, please DM me and I’ll pass your details onto his Mum.

Trixie came to me because of a family who wanted the best for her, and that meant the hurt of losing her, but they adapt and always have love to give.

Happy 2023 everyone. My resolution was to give up Vizslas. Oh well, I’ll try again next year 😂

Why do we love dogs so much?

Please allow me to answer my own question. I think it’s the combination of two things.

1) They live to please us.

Dogs have evolved alongside humans for so long that at birth they already understand what a pointing gesture means. For perspective, our closest mammal relative, the great apes, as intelligent as they are, don’t have a clue what a point means. Unless trained to.

Dogs have willingly allowed themselves to take the form of so many shapes and sizes, all to help us do the tasks we needed their help with. They can’t wait to do these things. So much do they value our praise.

2) They unashamedly do what they love.

Look at Ilka’s smiling face. The energy of a puppy. The innocence of a child. Free as a bird. Enjoying life and showing us how to do the same.

Whilst we’ve been responsible for domesticating them into their many forms, we have much to learn from them.

By rights, they deserve to live forever. Love them as much as you can, knowing that they don’t.

Today we said farewell to Miss Maple. 80% Good girl. 20% Nutcase. 15% Excitement Bomb. The numbers don’t add up because Maple did them. You’ve been a great friend to Trixie and I hope you remember all the things you’ve learned and you’re a good girl with your Fam. See you soon. But not too soon 😅😂
