With great sadness, we post to share that the St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days Inc has sought voluntary cancellation of the association.

Over the past several years, the St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days Inc Committee have worked tirelessly to find a suitable venue to hold the Field Days, following the challenges in using the St Heliers Correctional Facility Grounds. This has been difficult as we have tried to balance holding the full range of ploughing and working events, while trying to attract competitors and community spectators.

As the Committee membership dwindled, it became apparent that holding an event was becoming increasingly unlikely. Therefore, a proposition was recently passed to cancel the organisation, with assets distributed to support other heavy horse events.

This was an extremely difficult decision, and I want to particularly note my thanks to all members, committees and sponsors for their support and contribution over the past 27 years. The contribution by all has strengthened the heavy horse passion for many and provided opportunities for us all to share this passion with the community.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we will not be holding a St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days event in 2023.

We ended the 2022 year with optimism that we may be able to return to our previous grounds and explored this option, and others, in hope that we could return to the Upper Hunter for our event. Unfortunately, these opportunities have not transpired. Through our due diligence, we noted that the requirements given to us for using the ground at St Heliers Correctional Facility would mean it would be difficult and onerous for competitors and spectators to access the grounds and safely compete. This is very disappointing to the committee, who have spent many hours seeking and investigating opportunities.

We hope that further searching this year may provide us with a new ground that meets our requirements for 2024.

I would like to express deep gratitude to the Committee members who have made this difficult decision and thank supporters for their understanding.

A big thank you to the King Of The Ranges Stockman's Challenge for having us the past 2 days, giving us the ability to share the heavy horses with the local community! 🐴🐴

Thanks to all the kids who came and had a go at the pumpkin sn**ch, the team for bringing their horses and gear, the support team for helping pull things together, our great commentator and all those who came to spectate and cheer on the heavy horse activities.

How great is this from the Barellan Working Clydesdales "The Good Old Days" Weekend!!

Good luck to all involved!

The MND Tribute to the Teams Drive will depart the Barellan Showgrounds at 10am this Saturday. One night will include a dinner and auction at Ardlethan to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease awareness. The drive will be four nights and finish at the Barellan Showgrounds. Come along and see the teams off on Saturday.

With great sadness, we have to announce that the 2022 St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days will be cancelled due to public and animal safety. Unfortunately, due to the significant rainfall received over the last few weeks, the Showground at Nabiac has deteriorated.

The Committee would like to thank all the volunteers, sponsors, competitors, judges, stewards and stallholders for their support and the local community for getting behind this event in its first year.

We will contact all stakeholders in the coming days to provide more details.
