Meet Fluffy, Our Brave Feline Friend 🐾

Fluffy came to us with a common but painful dental issue: tooth resorption. This condition causes the tooth to break down, leading to discomfort and potential infection. It’s often hidden beneath the gumline, making it invisible to the naked eye.

Thanks to our new dental X-ray machine, we were able to catch the problem early. 📸✨ Dental X-rays help us see beneath the surface and identify issues like tooth resorption that could go unnoticed in a routine exam.

Why is this so important?
🔎 Early detection prevents pain and further damage to the tooth
🦷 Prevents infection from spreading to the jaw and other teeth
❤️ Keeps your cat comfortable and healthy for longer!

If your cat’s been having trouble eating, drooling, or showing signs of discomfort, don’t wait—book a dental check-up today. With X-rays, we can spot problems before they become serious!

🚫☀️ Skip the Midday Walks! ☀️🚫

Walking your dog during the hottest part of the day (usually between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.) can be dangerous for their paws and health. 🐾🔥

Asphalt and concrete can reach scorching temperatures, risking burns on your dog’s sensitive paw pads. Plus, heatstroke is a real concern in high temps!

Best Time to Walk: Early mornings or late evenings when it’s cooler. Stay safe and keep your pup comfy! 🐶💧

Jamie and Karen, we’ve said it before and we will say it always, you do such incredible work for seniors in need and we couldn’t be more blessed to be a part of their journey, even at the end. Your connection to each and every one is unique and valuable and no doubt in our mind that they thank you with all the hair on their body. Thank you so much for your kind words, our team will start the day with a warm heart and smiles 🌼🩵 RIP sweet Echo

There are so many people we need to thank when we have to say goodbye for now to our seniors and Narangba Vet Clinic is one of them as they have assisted so many of our seniors to pass over in a loving, caring and beautiful way. If there were experts at this then the staff here at the Clinic would win the Gold Medal. Jamie and I had rushed Echo to them yesterday morning before they even opened and they did not hesitate to get him inside, on a comfortable beautiful bed and cared for. At at a time when my head was not working at all, they knew we were going through something so awful as to say goodbye to our big boy, they were there for us and most importantly, they were there for Echo. Thank you to each and everyone of this amazing team, we love you, we trust you and we thank you 🙏👏❤️🩷🧡💛💚💙🩵

Understanding Canine Hot Spots: What, How, and Why 🐾

What are Hot Spots?
Hot spots, or acute moist dermatitis, are painful, inflamed, and often infected areas of skin that appear suddenly in dogs. They can grow rapidly, causing redness, swelling, and discomfort, typically accompanied by hair loss and oozy discharge. They’re most commonly found in areas like the head, neck, and hips, where dogs can easily scratch or lick.

How Do They Happen?
Hot spots can be triggered by a variety of factors, including:
🌼 Allergies (flea bites, food, or environmental allergens)
🦠 Infections (bacterial or fungal)
🤕 Injury or irritation (scratching or biting at a spot)
💦 Moisture (humidity, wet fur, or excessive licking)
When a dog scratches or licks at an area of their skin, it can cause inflammation and break down the skin barrier, allowing bacteria to enter and cause an infection.

How serious should I take these?
Hot spots are not just uncomfortable for your dog—they can quickly worsen and spread, leading to more severe infections or even systemic issues. If left untreated, hot spots can become painful, and the healing process may be prolonged. Addressing them promptly is key to relieving your dog’s discomfort and preventing further complications.

Veterinary Treatment for Hot Spots:
If your dog develops a hot spot, here’s what you can expect from a veterinary treatment plan:
🧼 Cleaning the Area: The affected skin will be cleaned to remove bacteria and debris.
💊 Medications: Your vet may prescribe antibiotics, steroids, or topical treatments to reduce infection and inflammation.
🤕 E-collar or Bandaging: To prevent further licking or scratching, your vet might recommend an E-collar or bandaging.
📝 Addressing Underlying Causes: Identifying the root cause (allergy, parasite, or injury) is essential for preventing future hot spots. Your vet may suggest a change in diet, flea control, or allergy management.

💡 Tip: Keep an eye on your dog’s grooming habits, and if you notice them licking or scratching excessively, consult your vet early to prevent hot spots from developing!
