💔 NYE IS THE WORST NIGHT FOR ANIMALS 💔
Hey everyone,
As we get ready to ring in the new year, a reminder that today is one of the worst days for animals all over Australia.
If you are heading out this evening please ensure your animals are somewhere safe.
Fireworks are TERRIFYING for our pets, especially for dogs and cats, whose hearing is so much more sensitive than ours.
The sudden loud noise of fireworks will send dogs and cats into panic, and sadly, it’s common for pets to run off and get hurt trying to escape the noise. Countless dogs and cats die on new years getting run over etc.
Here are a few things you can do to help your furry friends stay safe and calm:
1. Keep them indoors: Close windows and doors to keep the noise out. I don’t see why any pet should be outdoor on New Year’s Eve, make room for them, a small corner inside with their bed somewhere in the house is better than them being in the yard terrified at risk of running off and dying. They are apart of your family so please make sure they are inside.
2. Secure them: Make sure your pets can’t dart out if they get scared. Don’t leave doors open. Don’t let them out on their own.
3. Distract and comfort them: Put on some calming music, turn on a fan, or use a white noise machine to mask the sounds. Offer them frozen treats or a stuffed Kong to keep their minds busy.
4. Stay with them: If you can, just be there for them. Your presence can be really comforting during stressful moments.
PLEASE be extra mindful of our pets tonight and make sure they’re as safe and calm as possible.
5. Please ensure they are wearing a collar with a tag.
Happy New Year, and let’s keep our furry friends safe! 🐾❤️
