❓️Does your dog bring the toy back❓️

🐶Not only does play provide an awesome outlet for your dog! it can also be a very powerful way to reward your dog during obedience!

✅️ In order to add this awesome tool as a functional way to reward your dog not only must they love it, they must also bring the toy back! For some dogs this comes naturally for others not so much!

❗️It is not uncommon to see trainers let along owners struggle to get their dogs to bring the toy back! Many end up turning this once enjoyable game into an obedience exercise which ruins all the fun!

This lucky dog would have never survived had it not been for the crate!

When most people think of obedience or mention their dog is trained.

It is usually followed by something like he knows "sit"
Or he can "shake"

These are the two most common examples people give and usually will only perform inside the family home or back yard!

Our goal is real world functional obedience.

Wherever you go wherever you are your dog maintains his manners and is able to function in society.

This is when your dog is at liberty & provides your best mate with a much more enriching life, getting to explore the world rather than just the back yard!

Like all things it takes a commitment from the owner! But if your willing to do the work, we are more than willing to help!!!

***BUDDY*** We recently started working with this little legend after he his awesome parents adopted him from their local rescue. On the left you can see he was timid, afraid and lacked a lot of confidence. After starting him on a training plan, here he is two weeks in and you can already see how pleased he is with himself as his confidence has grown so much already. Huge credit to his new parents for not giving up on him and doing the work!!!

💵 If I had a dollar for every time I've heard somebody tell me this I'd be dressed like a Florida strip club owner, driving a Porsche 911 (high kms, poor overall condition) and I'd be able to afford that fancy d!ck extension surgery I saw on YouTube.

𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘: Assume that your dog has not a single, sollitary clue as to what he's done wrong.

💩 It's very likely that when you walk in the house and see a steaming pile of dog turd on your new rug, it hits you right in the feels.

☠️ Your facial expressions change, your heart rate soars like you've just had a crack at Pablo Escobar's private stash, you clench your fists, and your eyeballs pop out of your head like they do in a Ren & Stimpy episode.

🌩️ Your dog comes around the corner to greet you and sees this, he reads the change in weather, and he knows there are storms ahead.

𝗥𝗨𝗟𝗘: If you don't catch your dog in the act of doing something you're not cool with, or immediately after, then you need to proceed as though the dog has no fc***ng clue what's going down when you cook off at him.

⚠️ So handle your internal scandal like a goddamm adult, don't take it out on the dog, and take full responsibliity for avoiding future occurrences by putting better management measures in place .

💭 I need y’all to do me a solid:
⠀
⛔️ Stop expecting 3, 4, 5mo puppies to do extended ‘stays’;
⠀
✅ Consider that learning specific skills is far, far less important than developing a strong desire in your pup to work with you - it’s all about desire, motivation, and engagement;
⠀
⛔️ Avoid teaching your pup that any and all dogs it encounters are an opportunity for play;
⠀
✅ Understand that pups are just like toddlers - they have short attention spans and are all about ‘what’s in it for them’;
⠀
⛔️ Know that just because your last dog did or didn’t do something, it has ZERO bearing on how your new pup should behave;
⠀
✅ Remember that it’s completely typical for pups to bite, chew, bark, growl and jump on you;
⠀
⛔️ Keep it clear in your mind that your old dog may help your pup learn some new routines (for better or worse) but she won’t teach that pup how to ‘behave’;
⠀
✅ Invest significant effort in making sure your pup spends plenty of time completely alone;
⠀
⛔️ Change your vet if they tell you to keep your dog inside until it’s had all it’s shots, and avoid purchasing from a breeder that suggests the same;
⠀
✅ Get your puppy out of the house to experience the wider world without your older dog to develop it’s self reliance and independence;
⠀
⛔️ Don’t give your pup all it’s food from a bowl - give it about 1/3 of its food in a bowl for free, and feed the remaining 2/3 as part of your training and development work;
⠀
✅ First assume that if your pup isn’t paying attention to you in the way you wish, then he considers you boring AF and/or your expectations are unrealistic.��💡 If you guys can remember this stuff you’ll be much less likely to need my help later in life, and your dog has the best chance of developing to it’s full potential.
