Feel Good Friday...Max!
When we first met Larissa, Craig and Max, just walking him was a workout let alone adding other dogs into the picture. Only Craig or Larissa's dad could walk him as he was too strong and would drag them along. Adding other dogs into the situation took things to a whole new level.
Larissa and Craig have been putting in lots of work to install foundation skills in Max so he can be held to a higher level. We recently finished our 1-on-1 sessions and Max is now ready to join our group classes to push him even further!
~Jade and Odie~ Doing it for the small guys!
3 weeks ago we met Jade and Odie. While very adorable, this little guy had been showing some less than desirable behaviours. His leash etiquette was non-existent, he was reactive to dogs, had nipped several people whilst walking past and in general ruled the house. Jade was determined to have a dog whose behaviour she could be proud of. She has implemented beautifully all of the training plan and is seeing the amazing changes in Odie's behaviour. Our training plans require alot of consistent work to build the foundation skills. Odie's transformation proves how those skills come into place when we increase the distraction levels. Today he worked with Nala and did not show one sign of a reaction. He also walked straight past people showing no signs of nipping. For the first time Jade was able to walk past dogs in the street without an embarrassing reaction or hiding behind cars.
~Rossi~ From biting to a different dog in 12 hours
Introducing Rossi, Bianca and Dee. These amazing ladies adopted Rossi just a couple of weeks ago, and within days knew they had some big issues to deal with. When they contacted us, Rossi had already bitten a few times, was out of control at home and couldn't be trusted. Instead of returning Rossi, as 2 families already had, they were committed to giving him a better life.
What we discovered was that Rossi had never been giving any direction in his life. He thought it was his responsibility to take on the world. As soon as we implemented a clear yes/no system with Rossi, life got a whole lot better for everyone. 12 hours after our first session, Bianca and Dee had a very different dog!
Rossi is now showing us just what he is capable of and absolutely smashing his stays with Nala in our last session. This one really comes down to amazing owners who listened, implemented our plans, just did the work and didn't give up! Well done!
~Audrey~
When we met Audrey and her mum Bec, Audrey had no manners on leash and was very reactive to traffic. Whenever a car, bus or truck went past, she would lunge at it, trying to chase it and almost choke herself. Bec has been doing lots of work with Audrey to ensure that she knows the rules of the leash. This week we tested Audrey right next to the road and she is now doing brilliantly.
~Nash~
Handsome Nash, 9 months old and behaving beautifully. He has mastered walking on a loose lead around all sorts of distractions, his stays are great and his engagement with his dad is increasing every day. Such a
beautiful dog to work with. Great job Mick, you should be very proud of your boy.
~Leroy~
Leroy is a 1 year old French Bulldog who has in the past had a few issues that were making life pretty tough for his owners Lynette and Dennis. In the past Leroy has been an intense leash puller, wouldn't listen to anything his mum and dad said and had bolted off leash several times. He had even bolted to chase horses, which is dangerous for all involved. Lynette and Dennis knew they had to do something about it.
At our first session we discussed what was happening and introduced some new rules and boundaries at home. Setting higher expectations for Leroy was also discussed. It's very common for owners to believe that their dogs are too stupid to learn. In the first week we saw some big changes in Leroy, this was due to expecting more from him and setting some new routines. Our session today saw Leroy walking well on leash, coming when called and smashing his stays!
~Moet~ - When good dogs bite!
Moet is a 3.5 year old Cattle dog x Kelpie x Border Collie who has several bites to her record. From biting family members to visitors to the house or visitors when away camping, Moet couldn't be trusted. Our first session saw a dog who would sometimes listen to dad but not to mum. While Moet's dad, Matt has done a great job with her, credit needs to go to her mum, Tahnia who has worked her butt off to develop a great relationship with Moet.
There have been many days when things all seemed too hard, and giving up was an option but Tahnia has stuck to our plan and achieved some incredible things with Moet. From a dog who wouldn't even sit for her mum to one that can do automatic sits, hold stays off leash with birds and other dogs around and walk beautifully on leash.
We are extremely happy to say that since we have been working together, Moet has not had one bite or nip. Tahnia and Matt have also held BBQs at their house and had friends comment on just how calm Moet is now. I am so incredibly proud of you and what you have achieved with your beautiful girl.
When working with dogs with aggression, you can't pick and choose the parts of the training plan you want to work on. We need 110% commitment from all family members. Tahnia and Matt have worked beautifully together to achieve these results with Moet, even when it would have been easier to simply give up.
~Bentley and Billy~
Owning 2 big, strong dogs is a beautiful thing, but can also we a real handful when they pull on lead and are dog reactive. Bentley and Billy have a great mum who has implemented everything we have worked on and is now able to walk both of her dogs on loose leads. Achieving this for the long term requires alot more than just walking the dogs, it requires changes in our lifestyle to ensure we giving our dogs everything they need! And Lisa is doing just that!
For so many of our clients their main goal is to just go for a walk with their dogs - no pulling, no avoiding other
dogs or people, just out and about enjoying the experience.
Many people are struggling with this, but you don't need to be.
Great work Lisa, Bentley & Billy, very proud of you all!
~Archie~
2 weeks ago, we met Archie, a gorgeous little Beagle. He had a habit of dragging his owners around while sniffing everything (he is a Beagle after all) and being a little too interested in other dogs.
Well... it can be done! Beagles can walk at heel without sniffing everything!
~Maggie~
Introducing the gorgeous Maggie who is 6 months old. Maggie's family were after some help with the leash etiquette, basic obedience and jumping up. Today we headed to the local park and worked Maggie with Nala, she did a brilliant job. Establishing basics with young dogs sets them up for a great life ahead. Previously walks with Maggie weren't very enjoyable with her pulling and getting excitable with anything and anyone that went past, now the whole family is getting out and about and everyone is enjoying them!
~Fox and Tully~
These 2 gorgeous dogs were quite the handful for their mum, Sophie. Walking the dogs was becoming a nightmare when she was constantly pulled along by 2 dogs who were dog reactive. By getting the right tools in place and working on the dogs separately before bringing them together, Sophie was able to achieve this...
~Kyah Update~
The gorgeous Kyah finished up her 1-on-1 training sessions today and we are very proud of what she has achieved. Sharon and Chris have been working very hard to make the changes in Kyah a reality. From a very excitable dog who would pull incessantly on lead and get worked up by anyone and anything that would walk
past to the beautiful dog we saw today. All dogs have the capability to do this, we just have to show them how!
~Sam~
Sam is a young Labrador who was quite an excitable boy. Walking Sam was a hard job, not just pulling the entire way, Sam was excitably reactive to almost anything that walked past. Dogs, people, kids and bikes were all quite exciting for Sam and meant that busy areas were a nightmare.
We have been working with Sam and his parents to calm him down and enjoy his walks. Sam is a very clear example of how our energy effects our dogs. If you are trying to walk quicker to keep up with your dog you are sending him the wrong message. By controlling your pace, relaxing your arm and leading your dog you become Insinc with them!
~Kyah Update~
2 weeks ago we introduced Kyah and her family. While being an adorable dog, Kyah was a nightmare to walk and only Chris (dad) was strong enough to hold her on walks. Today we had our 3rd session and we are so proud of Kyah and her family.
Today Kyah mastered working with Nala, having bikes fly past, as well as passing kids and other dogs and traffic in close proximity. It is amazing what can be achieved in such a short amount of time when you have awesome owners to work with.
~Leash Etiquette~
Many people out there are struggling with walking their dogs. Being pulled down the road with dogs zig zagging and tripping owners up is a common problem we work with. This gorgeous girl is Kyah and she is 3 years old. For all of her life walks have been very painful to the point that she hurt her mums back. This meant that only her dad could walk her.
This is our first session...
After we got the right tools, techniques and energy in place, walking Kyah was a dream. Now the whole family can take her out which means she gets lots more walks that are enjoyable for everyone. Loose leash walking is a skill that every dog should have and typically doesn't take long to achieve.
~K9s Transformed~
Our K9s Transformed classes are for clients who have successfully completed our 1-on-1 Training Package. Here are a few snippets to show what we get up to in these classes.6 of the 9 dogs in these videos came to us as highly dog reactive. Now they are all helping each other to build their confidence, as well as the confidence of their owners.
Dogs helping dogs! You can't beat that!
~Update on Bruce~
This week we shared a video on Bruce, the little Jack Russel who was severely dog reactive. Today he participated in his first group session. He and his mum did an amazing job!
~ The process of modifying dog reactivity ~
Alot of people have asked what the dogs we train are like before we start working with them. Bruce is a 2.5 year old Jack Russel with dog reactivity issues. This video captures the before footage, as well as the progress made at each session.
This process requires committed owners who are prepared to put the time and effort into training every day. There is no magic wand that makes reactivity go away, it comes down to many things including the relationship you have with your dog, the home environment, what you are expecting and reinforcing every day. Thank you Ashley for trusting us and following all the steps to achieve this huge improvement. Well done!
~Phoebe and Cody~
At Insinc Dog Training we get the whole family involved in the training to ensure everyone learns. Here we are with 9 year old Phoebe and her dog Cody. Phoebe listened and watched how to walk Cody and then took the leash. This is what is achievable when you forget everything else and just walk. Great work Phoebe, you're a natural!
Travelling with Dogs - Part 2
Taking breaks - when Kado and I take a break I try to make it fun for him. Of course he needs to go to the toilet and stretch his legs but playing a game with him with a bit of obedience included helps to stimulate the mind ready for the next leg of the trip.
~Update on Darby~
Back in March we introduced Darby and his mum Jacinta so I thought we'd give you an update on where they're at. Darby is now taking part in our K9s Transformed classes and doing a beautiful job. His first couple of classes saw him quite unsure of working around the other dogs. While he wasn't reacting he didn't want to go anywhere near the other dogs. This video was taken at class 4 and just look how happy and confident he is. Darby knows his mum has his back and they are now working beautifully together. Great work Jacinta and Darby!
~Update on our K9 Recruits~
All of our adolescent dogs are making huge progress with their training. It's so beautiful to watch them
improve each week. Here's a little snippet from today's session.
Our next round of classes will be starting soon, contact us for more information.
K9 Recruits!
The gorgeous little Harriet from today's K9 Recruits session. Not only is she doing a great job with her confidence she's also smashing her sit/stay!
More puppy spam!
Kado keeping a watchful eye over the pups 💖 I love how he just has to go over to them to stop them fighting when it gets a little more involved. He really is in his element!
Puppy Spam!
So proud of my boy, he may be a big boofa but he is so gentle and loving with the pups. Love you Kado!
~Big Boofy Boston~
A week ago walking Boston was one hell of a job. This boy is full of muscle and is incredibly strong. Just look at him now, how happy does he look! How relaxed does his mum look! This is what a walk should look like. No pulling, no zig zagging, no sniffing, just owner and dog Insinc with each other.
What can change in just 1 week?
We met Darby and his mum just 1 week ago. Jacinta needed a bit of assistance to get Darby's dog reactivity under control. We have worked on fine tuning his leash etiquette and basic obedience but more importantly we are teaching Darby what we do and don't want. By simply implementing a yes/no system with Darby we have seen some incredible changes in a very short amount of time. Look at these guys go!
~Lisa and Ruby~
Some times our clients and their dogs really impress us and Lisa and Ruby have done just that. When we first met Ruby she had no leash etiquette, very little baseline obedience, was dog reactive and in general a very hypo dog. I'm so proud of the work Lisa has put into Ruby and how far they have both come.
~Introducing Archie~
This gorgeous little guy is 10 months old and was developing some bad habits. His leash etiquette was lacking and he was reactive to other dogs. Archie's mum contacted us early to extinguish this behaviour. This is 3 weeks in and we are seeing a very different dog. Great work Jenny and Archie!
~Group Behavioural Sessions~
Our Group Behavioural Sessions are a great way to test your dog's progress and reinforce their behaviour in a public place with many distractions. Our classes are very friendly and supportive. Here's a few shots from today's session.
~ George Update~
A little while ago we introduced George and his mum Chantelle. George was severely dog reactive and had very little leash etiquette. We have been working to help overcome George's issues. Well George and Chantelle are now attending our Group Behavioural Sessions and doing an amazing job!
~Ruby~
3 weeks ago we met a very excitable young dog who was a nightmare on lead. Ruby's mum has been putting in lots of work and it really is showing. Today we saw a much calmer dog who wasn't fazed by working with Nala or having people, bikes or other dogs walk past. Life is getting so much better! Great work Lisa.
Group Behavioural Sessions...
All of these dogs came to us with behavioural issues ranging from severe dog reactivity to anxiety to fearfulness. We have been working hard with these dogs to get them to where they are today, but with results like these it makes all of the hard work worthwhile. Very proud of you all!
~Puppy Boston~ Socialisation Part 6
Puppy Boston... Part 5
Before we get too carried away teaching our puppies new 'tricks' I like to make sure we have the basics covered. In this video we are working on our Puppy Pushups! The idea is to get Boston used to the mechanics of the sit and drop. Nothing too serious at the early stages, we just want to start to show him what it's all about.
Socialisation with Boston - Part 4
Socialisation with Boston - Part 2
Socialisation with Boston - Part 1
~Lucy~
It's amazing what can be achieved in just 2 weeks! In our first session with Glenn, Michele and Lucy we saw a very excitable young dog. Lucy was a great dog at home but taking her out and about was hard work and embarrassing. Today we saw a much calmer dog who showed great impulse control and is absolutely smashing her stays. These guys are working hard and showing what can be achieved in just a couple of short weeks! Great effort!
Dogs helping dogs...
Today's mini group session saw some great improvement for some of our severe dog reactivity cases. While we have worked through a lot of the issues with these dogs they need to be put around other dogs to show them that the same rules apply everywhere. Great work today guys!
