Shoalhaven Pets of The Homeless Project The Shoalhaven Animal Welfare League Pets of the Homeless Program offers assistance to the homeless

The Shoalhaven Animal Welfare League Pets of the Homeless Program was created in 2017 after two of our members, whilst on their daily walk, stopped to talk with a Homeless man about his dogs. It soon became apparent that he and many of our other homeless were in need of support and help with their animals, and so the Shoalhaven Pets of the Homeless Program was born. The program works closely with

the Shoalhaven Homeless Hub and Salt Ministries to help identify those in need. We also receive assistance from the Nowra RSPCA with free microchipping and free registration for desexed animals. Expert medical care is provided by North Nowra Veterinary Clinic and Berry Veterinary Clinic who donate their time to our monthly free vet clinics. Shoalhaven Animal Welfare cover the costs of desexing animals and other medical care along with flea and tick control, worming as well as food, bedding, collars and leads as required.

Did you know our local vets are seeing a worrying increase in Parvo cases in our area.
Parvo is a very serious and highly contagious virus that is expensive to treat and sadly has a very high mortality rate even with treatment.
If you have a pension or health care card and your dog has not been vaccinated in the last 12 months please come and see our AWL NSW vets for a free dog (or cat) vaccination.

Did you catch tonight’s episode of The Dog House? This week our Kemps Creek Shelter are helping Shoalhaven Animal Shelter find a loving home for a dog in need.

Sometimes the number of dogs ending up at our local council shelter through surrenders or as unclaimed strays can be overwhelming and so AWL NSW is happy to assist when we can.
