Bluebelle - Hollie's little angel, vaccinated

Hollie was responsible for 100% of Bluebelle's care, not because we made her (we don't believe in kids being responsible for animals) but because she wanted to and was so capable that we allowed it

This was one of the first bunnies ever born here! Her mother was a gorgeous girl named Macaron

Macaron had put bowls and all in her nest, I lifted up a bowl and this little angel was stuck under it! I am so glad I found her!

I am so thankful she has a beautiful home and lots of love!

New beginning, new name

The old name gives me PTSD after our calici outbreak

I have many rabbits with Christmas names, such as: Mistletoe, Pudding, Eggnog and Blizzard

My favourite time of year is Christmas, it makes me feel joyous so this was the perfect name for me!

Oh, hi guys!

Thank you to the people who have donated to our little fund-raiser so far!

I have been able to purchase a huge bag of rabbit feed and some packaged mini bales 🥰

Food is one thing that comes and goes easily, stockpiling is essential because rabbits cannot be without it or their little guts get very sad!

Hopefully we can raise enough to buy vetbeds for every rabbit house with enough to be interchangeable. Vet beds provide soft footing and urine or water runs straight through them leaving the top dry. They are also easy to take out and wash which reduces contamination risks greatly!

Thank you for your support, I am starting to feel more hopeful that we can help more rabbits soon!

Hi friends!

We have been a bit quiet at Pavlova lately, I have been struggling with the loss of my beloved family members due to RHDV2

We do however have amazing things in the pipeline for Pavlova once our lockdown is over

We are now over halfway through, it is a very tough and isolating time though. We cannot visit other members of the rabbit community because we cannot risk infecting them

Special thanks to Teresa from Fluffle Park and Leeanne from Fluffy Butt for looking after my babies and keeping them safe!

Happy birthday to one of our babies, Moki!

Moki found a very loving forever home with a very special young lady, this young lady has found a place in my heart as she came to meet Moki and had done ALL the research required about rabbits ON HER OWN!

Bluebelle has been very down since losing her partner, Macchiatto, so we followed strict infection control guidelines and took her to the vet

The vet has confirmed that Blubelle is in mourning and not eating as much, we also had her eyes re tested and sadly she is now 100% blind

We will be looking for an older male lop for Bluebelle to keep her company

To all the people who purchased a bunny for their kids this Easter, I hope you know what you have signed up for.

Rabbits are the most neglected and abandoned animals in the world, especially rabbits given at Easter. This is because they are sold as a low maintenance, easy to keep pet so they get played with on Easter morning then swiftly thrown into a hutch in a backyard where they are forgotten about, faeces and urine building up around them. Most rabbits are lucky to see their first birthday, this is crazy considering they can live 12 years.

Rabbits are HIGH maintenance and have very specific dietary needs as well as social needs, despite being sold as an outdoor animal they are actually indoor and require free roam of your house. You will have to bunny proof your furniture, walls and power cords or dangerous spaces

When you bring your bunny home you will need to book a vet appt for them straight away for their first calici vaccine with a follow up booster in 4 weeks

Your cute baby bunny will grow into a hormonal teenager in 4 or 5 months and may start spraying, biting or pooing all over your house, you will need to get them desexed, not only to prevent pregnancy but also to prevent cancers because your rabbit will get reproductive cancer if left entire

If you cannot offer a home with these things then please do not get a rabbit, if you already have a rabbit you no longer want then please do the right thing and contact a rabbit shelter

Spotted at a market in NSW

This is all kinds of wrong, these beautiful creatures shoved in a bird cage without proper feed and no room to run.

How much is a life worth you ask? $50. They want $50 for these gorgeous creatures who can live to 12 years old and should be an inside family member

Easter bunnies are some of the most abandoned animals in the world, if you care you will never buy an animal as a gift

I personally know breeders who spend hours researching genetics to breed the highest standard of rabbit to ensure a long and healthy life, they produce minimal litters per year and only sell when the perfect home comes up, they do not advertise and they do not breed anything in the lead up to Easter

Do your research and find a reputable breeder who is improving the standards and treating their rabbits with love, shout out to Teresa Nicholls who is one of the best in the business

It has been a fairly negative time at Pavlova lately so here is some good news

I don't want to jinx it but Bluebelle has managed to be the ONLY survivor of RHDV2 in our rabbit yard

We are calling her THE IRON RABBIT 💪

If you release your pet rabbit you are not sentencing it to a life of hardship, you are sentencing it to DEATH

Domesticated rabbits do not have the ability to survive in the wild, they will die of thermal shock, dehydration, starvation or calici/myxo

If you can no longer care for your rabbit, please take it to a shelter where it can find a loving home! Rabbits can live as much as 12 years if cared for properly and be amazing family members

Just dont do it!!
