🐾 Hello, beautiful paw-rents! Summer is here, and it’s important to keep your furry friends hydrated and cool. Here are some tips to help your dog or cat stay healthy and happy in the heat:
🐾 Provide fresh, clean water at all times. Make sure your pet has access to a bowl of water indoors and outdoors, and change it frequently. You can also add ice cubes to the water to keep it cold and refreshing.
🐾 Avoid hot surfaces. Asphalt, concrete, and metal can get very hot in the sun and burn your pet’s paws. Try to walk your dog in the morning or evening, or on grass or dirt. You can also use booties or paw protectors to prevent injuries.
🐾Try to use cooling beds or mats - you can find many options on our website!
🐾 Provide shade and ventilation. If your pet spends time outside, make sure they have a shady spot to rest and avoid direct sunlight. You can also use a fan, a mister, or a wet towel to cool them down. Never leave your pet in a parked car, even with the windows cracked, as it can quickly become a death trap.
🐾Watch for signs of dehydration and heatstroke. Some of the symptoms include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, and collapse. If you notice any of these signs, move your pet to a cool place, offer them water, and contact your vet immediately.
🐾 Consider a haircut or a brush. If your pet has long or thick fur, you may want to trim it or shave it to help them stay cool. You can also brush your pet regularly to remove excess hair and prevent matting. However, don’t shave your pet too close, as their fur also protects them from sunburn and insects.
