How to implement safe weight loss for a performance horse.

1. Rule out any medical condition that’s making him overweight.
2. Increase exercise with
*additional turnout time with grazing muzzle
*trail rides
* put hay in different areas to encourage movement

3. Decrease calorie intake by
*Sourcing a good-quality grass hay as the diet base
* feeding no less than 1-1.5% of bodyweight in forage
*decreasing the amount of grains/concentrate feeds being fed
