Callan and his lovely young Kelpie, Chase, were here today. We did some focus games to warm up, some very nice LLW using straight line luring and Callan showed me what they’d been doing at home with place. Chase loves the mat and today we were working on duration. Callan has got beautiful sits and downs with Chase - he’s becoming a very good young trainer. We finished up with a game of sheep balls, which both of them enjoy. Chase is really picking up on the reorienting to Callan and dropping to wait for the next ‘sheep’ (ball) to be sent in his vicinity.
Thanks for the short video, Loren😁
A boast about my young dog, Monty, who gained first place with 98 out of 100 points in an Excellent Rally trial at Ulverstone yesterday. Rally is a form of obedience training where the dog and their person walk a course where a number of signs tell them what they have to do at each station. Monty got his Novice (on leash) title at 12 months but wasn’t very focused off leash in the next level. Now 4 years old, he finally gained his Advanced title earlier this year and this is his first go at the second highest level. He has been a challenging dog to train and has taught me more as a trainer about how to get a dog working with you than any of my mostly herding breeds that I’ve had over the years. I’m really proud of our work yesterday💕
Nose touch - one on each hand for 2 seconds. Collie.
For my class members in puppy class and Training and Tricks group, my two boys will be trialling for their first time in July. This is what we’ve worked towards (a practice session with a friend today. Thanks, Deb, for the videos). First one is Monty and straddle.
