Another sweet baby rescued from our colony a couple of weeks ago 🎀 She surprised me by being very affectionate after she got over her fears! She has been in foster care with another cat from that colony and is awaiting adoption. Her name is Willow 🥰

Some of these photos can be distressing to most people, so please be warned that they are quite graphic. But it’s important that people are aware of the struggles out undomesticated street cats are going through right on our door steps, and what us animal rescuers are trying to prevent.

Today I trapped this boy named Lionheart from a colony we have been working on. I noticed his abscess right away, but not before I smelt it. I was hoping that this could be flushed and drained and our cute but spicy boy would have a chance at living a good life. That was until I saw the true state of him 😢 The list of issues seems endless, with myself and the vet making the sad decision that euthanasia was the kindest option for Lionheart. Each of his issues alone could have been treated to an extent, but all of those together with the high likelihood of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus made this an uphill battle for our boy, not to mention how it would all affect his mental well-being due to how terrified and reactive he was. I only knew this cat for a couple of hours but I was probably the only person to ever love him. He was sedated before he was euthanised which gave me a quick chance to give him a gentle stroke on his nose and a scratch on his head. I told him I was sorry that we couldn’t help him sooner 🥺 All I could do was make that call to put him out of his pain and end his suffering.
Thank you to the lovely staff at EVH for showing so much compassion for my boy and taking the time to discuss his condition in depth. We were able to give him a respectful and peaceful passing which is the most that anyone has ever done for him.

Rest In Peace my little street king 💔🧡 I promise I’ll watch over all your girlfriends and babies until I have them in lovely homes 🥰

This week I had a call from a woman who let me set a trap at her work a few weeks back to help with the adorable Sylvester who found himself at a tip after hitching a (very!) dangerous ride in the back of a rubbish truck. She had previously helped two cats at the tip and was needing to trap and get them sterilised and microchipped. I headed out to pick one up (second photo) who is being sterilised, microchipped and returned. When I got there they had managed to trap a 4 month old kitten. They hadn’t seen this girl before and believe she came from the school across the road, heading to her house in search for food. It’s little things like kids going on holidays when stray cats rely on them for food that you never think about. But this girls scavenging days are over as she already has a foster home who are wanting to adopt her once her veterinary care is finalised.

Welcome to The Mad Catters Inc., girls! 😸

Amazing news! I got a message the other day from someone who was looking for their missing cat. They saw my post and sent his photos through, and I’m happy to say that Big Mac is back HOME! 🥰 His real name is Patchy and he is loved by two young girls who were over the moon to have him home.

Ranger has his first meet and greet on Saturday morning and I’m 99.9% sure he will be heading home with his forever Mum 🥺

So happy for him but so sad for me! 🥺 After a long 8 months of moving from pound to shelter to another rescue and then to my place, he deserves to finally be somewhere he can call home and I’m so happy that The Mad Catters Inc. could give him that. He hasn’t had a home since at least Christmas last year and while he is so wanted and loved at our place, he will be a lot more comfortable having a whole house to explore to himself. Not to mention his very own special person 💙

The next menace to society 🤭 Big boy Duke! Duke was seen wondering around the area for quite a few months. A local became concerned when she noticed that the cat was searching around for her dogs left over food each night and shared him in local community pages. Unfortunately no one has come forward to claim him as theirs, but we did have someone who lost a white cat ask if he might be there’s. Duke wasn’t their missing cat, but they signed up to be his foster family and plan to adopt him in no owners come forward.

Such a handsome boy and safe out of the harsh sun burning those ears and that nose! Another Catter to add to the collection 😸🐾

Big Mac 🍔 Everyone loves them! Especially when they’re black and white and adorably sweet 😸 This lovely boy was spotted huddled up in a corner of the playground at McDonalds Ellenbrook. After seeing a few posts that were 4 and 6 hours old I assumed someone would have headed down there, but a third post was made on Facebook so I headed down to see how he was doing. Mac was easy to spot with the help of staff who opened up a side gate to give me access to pull Mac out. With the help of a crew member shuffling him from one end towards me, I was able to grab Big Mac(by the scruff, sorry my boy but there was no other option 😭) and pull him to the safety of caring arms. He had a little bit of a freak out and tried to run away but we managed to get him in to a carrier and off we went. Mac was so exhausted he could barely keep his eyes open after having some water and dinner, and he immediately curled up in his enclosure for a long sleep until the next evening. We don’t know where he came from, what he went through, how he came to be there or where his family is, but we do know that he’s safe and has now been sterilised and microchipped while we look for his family or await an adoption listing.

Welcome the the Catters, Big Mac 😸

This mother and daughter duo were named Carly and Tilly and have been placed in care with two of our wonderful self-confessed cat ladies! Living with Nomoré over the last couple of years, this trio of cats were lucky enough to find a house with someone who noticed their suffering and began to offer food morning and night, as well as a cosy cat cave by the front door which Tilly loved! Carly (brown tabby) is doing great and accepting pats from her carer who is eagerly awaiting her foster babies to be born. Tilly (black) had to go and see our friends at EVH Emergency Vet Hospital over the weekend to assess head tilt that we had concerns over and check how her babies were doing via ultrasound. At this stage everything seems okay in the way of injuries or recent trauma to her neck or head, and we’re looking forward to her kittens joining us and growing up so that we can focus on Tilly’s tilty neck. To our surprise, Tilly is a very friendly girl and is settling with her carers beautifully.

The streets are no place for baby cats to be born 🙀☝🏼

Meet Nomoré, an absolute heartbreaker!

This sweet boy accidentally stumbled across our trap that we had set to catch two pregnant cats. Thankfully he did because he needed a lot of help! Poor Nomoré had mats and knots all through his coat with big chunks of dandruff and scabs. Our wonderful vets and nurses gave him a much needed shave to relieve his discomfort, finding horribly inflamed and sore skin underneath. Nomoré is now on medication for the next month or two and has twice weekly spot washes to keep him comfortable. Nomoré also tested positing for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) so it’s just as well he landed in the hands of us Catters.

We’re so happy to have you Nomoré 😸💜

On to my next set of rescues, the incredibly brave Tao and her five kittens Marlu, Aari, Roo, Kaya and Fergus 🐱

This sweet mumma randomly showed up at someone’s property last year in search of food. She must have great instincts as she was lucky enough to meet Michelle and her family who started leaving food for her and encouraging her to come closer to the home. Tao ended up having a litter of kittens where were eventually caught and handed over to Cat Haven, with the family choosing to adopt two of them. With Tao slowly coming closer to the house months and months later they thought they were finally in with a chance of catching her and getting her the help she needed. All went well until the fires tore through our Perth hills forcing Tao to run away in fear of her life. When the family were eventually able to return to their property they were shocked to find Tao had returned and to their surprise - she had 5 babies not long after! A few weeks passed by when the family needed to move to their new home, again pushing Tao to move her babies except for Marlu who was accidentally left behind. The family took Marlu home and continued to return in search of Tao, until they finally found her and her 4 babies who had shown up on someone’s property and were posted on Facebook. Michelle rushed off to get Tao who came running to into her arms, and the family were then safe again and reunited.

Tao has now been sterilised and is officially a pet cat and looks forward to a long life with Michelle and her family 🐾 with her babies headed off for adoption. Aren’t they all so adorable 😸💜

It’s been another crazy couple of weeks so excuse the influx of posts coming! 😸

This is Sylvester who is approximately 4-5 months old and was recently rescued. Sylvester had been spotted at a tip centre when he was just 6 weeks old after very narrowly escaping a compactor that would have killed him had he not shot about at the last moment. We’re absolutely amazed that he survived not only being tipped in to a rubbish truck followed by other loads, not only miraculously surviving multiple compacts, not only dashing out of a large compactor right at the last second, but also surviving a long 4 months on his own with no one around except a grumpy old local tom cat! If it weren’t for some kind people realising that he needed help and feeding him each day, we don’t know where he would have ended up. One of our carers mentioned wanting to help Sylvester so we organised a trap and had him that same day. This sweet boy headed home with the foster carer who watched over him all these months and is settling in well. Another successful rescue!

Welcome to the Catters family, Sylvester 😸💜

💙 RANGER DANGER THE SWEETEST BOY IN TOWN 💙

From the second we met Ranger we just knew he was a special boy. He has the sweetest meow that you don’t expect from a big ex tom cat, his coat is super soft, and his tail is adorable curly. Not even his foster carers cats are as snuggly as this boy is with his foster mumma, and his loud motor-like purrs are the cherry on the cake! Ranger is just looking for a best friend and someone to call family. Ranger will make a wonderful pet for most homes that do not have other cats and can keep him indoors. He is gentle and loving towards children of all ages and really just longs to be a family cat. He truly is one in a million and until you spend a few days with him while he warms up to you, you could never imagine what you’ve been missing in a furry feline friend. I know his people are out there somewhere reading this profile and we can’t wait to meet you!

To read more about Ranger and see more photos, please head to his PetRescue profile: https://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/859513

All adult cats are sent to potential new homes on a one to two week trial after an initial meet and greet before finalising adoption. While adult cats do take longer than this to settle into a new home, it allows a chance to see how the cat is coping with the new environment.

Name: Ranger
Age: ~3 years
Gender: Male
Suburb: Aveley
Adoption Fee: $160
Ranger's adoption fee includes a veterinary health examination followed by sterilisation, microchip, up to date vaccination/s and treatment for parasites.

Medical note: Ranger has tested positive for FIV and FeLV. Please see his PetRescue profile above for more information. This will be discussed in depth before adoption.

If you would like to arrange a meet and greet with Ranger, please fill in the adoption application: https://madcattersinc.formstack.com/forms/adoption_application or email [email protected]

Introducing the last little love for this week, Charlie 🥰 Charlie is a 7 month old kitten that was found alone in a backyard when he was about 3-4 months old. He went in to foster care with another rescue for around 2 months before spending 6 weeks at a vet clinic while they tried to find another carer for him. After struggling to do so they reached out to The Mad Catters Inc. and we luckily had a great idea - a friend for Cleo! 💜 Charlie has the same personality as Cleo although he is a little more confident coming out around people. The next step with the both of them is to get them to a point where they can accept pats happily, making us able to find the perfect homes when they’re ready.
Is he not such an adorable little chocolate drop!? 😍

Next on my list of ungratefuls to share is an adorable pair that were from the same colony as Falkor. Their feeder lovingly named them Bow Tie and Collar. The surrounding businesses in the industrial area are having major changes done to their yards so the last 3 of the colony cats need to be placed in care which we are trying to find carers for. The Mad Catters Inc. volunteers have already rescued 2 pregnant cats, 4 older kittens and 2 males from the colony 🤍

Bow Tie and Collar moved on to their longer term foster carer this week for rehabilitation, though they are super sweet and not at all aggressive. Feels great getting a job done knowing you improved the lives of so many and right before winter too 🖤 All for no other reason than the fact that you care 🥰

What a week I had with colony cats 🙊🖤
This adorably spicy boy is named Falkor. He was trapped, sterilised and released back to his colony a few months ago. We were able to find a long term foster home last week so we headed back out to trap him again (much to his disgust) and get him to safety. So far during his care with The Mad Catters Inc. he has had a snapped canine tooth removed, an infected nail bed treated, complete shave due to being covered in oil and grease, started on medication to help him settle down mentally as well as the routine sterilisation, microchip and vaccination. I only had him for one night but my god did I meet my match with his aggression and bravery 😂 He’s in for a long rehabilitation but somethings tells me that all his fear is going to turn and he will be such an affectionate boy.
Such a cool cat 🤍

Hurts my heart to share that Ranger’s FIV and FeLV tests came back positive for both this morning 😔 This was his second test so it confirms that he does in fact have Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) which I suspected and have experience with, and Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV) which I was hoping would come back negative. Ranger is our first FeLV+ cat so we have a bit of researching to do before he is ready for adoption, but we are hopeful that we will find a cat-free home where he can be lovingly welcomed.

Given his good health and great condition (he’s super soft! 🥰) with a quality diet, regular vaccinations, regular parasite treatments and close attention to any signs of ill health, this boy should live a happy life in the comfort of a loving indoor home.

Welcome to my newest boy Ranger 🌵

This sweet 3 year old boy was transferred to The Mad Catters Inc. and has tested positive for both FIV and FeLV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and Feline Leukaemia Virus). He is being retested on Monday morning and I’m holding on to hope that this was a transient infection and he only shows positive for FIV, but in a magical world he would test negative for both! One can dream, right? 🥰

This pretty girl is doing well so far after moving in over the weekend. She is very weary of me alone but is a totally different cat when my cats hang around. I’ve been sleeping next to her enclosure these past three nights and she’s becoming more and more comfortable being out of her cat cave when I’m around. I woke up yesterday morning to her big beautiful eyes staring right at me looking very curious. I love my girl and can’t wait to be able to pat and brush her, then start planning her adoption to her forever home 😸💕

Introducing beautiful Cleo 🥰

Yesterday I welcomed my new long term foster baby, Cleo. She is a cat that joined our charity at the end of last year with her kittens after being trapped in the lower wheatbelt region, transported up to Northam with SAFE Avon Valley and then transferred over to The Mad Catters Inc. in the Swan Valley.

She was without a doubt one of the most aggressive and confrontational cats I’ve ever rescued! She has been in a couple of foster homes since then with good progress followed by regression back and forth. With me being home so often at the moment I decided to bring this girl home and work on her human socialisation with the help of my cats who she adores. I have no doubt this girl will settle with us soon when she is ready, and we can then work on finding her the most perfect family to enjoy the rest of her days ☺️

Jessie is going so well with her kittens and their eyes have started opening 😻 She’s adopted one extra kitten named Bobby and he is settling in beautifully with his new family. Sadly we weren’t able to locate his mother but thankfully we had a surrogate ready and will to take him in. Aren’t her babies adorable!? Jessie comes from a colony of about 40-60, the exact number is unknown as they are mostly grey or black and white. 45 were trapped before we were able to start helping and bringing them in to our rescue. We have now helped 21 cats and kittens from this colony 🥰

I haven’t even had the chance to post about my new pregnant foster Jessie from our cat colony, because she only arrived Wednesday at midnight.

I was shocked to find last night that she gave birth to 5 kittens 😱 I was not expecting that so soon! They all have quite low birth weights and one is just 57 grams, but with some good quality nutrition and constant offers of wet food, I’m hoping Jessie can produce some good quality milk for her babies to make up for her poor nutrition during pregnancy.

Once she’s relaxed enough I’ll share a photo of this sweet girl 💖
