🆘Amazing Deedlebug supporters! 🆘

We are in desperate need of foster carers for three gorgeous kitties (all to be fostered separately). All of these kitties, through no fault of their own, need carers or adoptive homes 🙏

We are able to provide carers with a fostering kit which includes a small cat tree, bed, food and water bowls, litter tray and starter food and cat litter. Any vet bills are covered by the rescue. We basically just need you to open your heart and home to these precious girls until we can find them forever homes 🥰

Our foster kitties must be kept indoors or inside with access to a secure cat enclosure. We are happy to consider foster with a view to adopt for these kitties.

Dorothy is a gorgeous older gal who is about 12. We would ask that she be taken on as a forever-foster to minimise any further stress for her. Dorothy came to us from death row at a regional pound a couple of years ago. She has been with a carer who loves her like her own, but is unfortunately no longer able to care for her. Dorothy has renal disease which is managed through special food and regular vet checkups. Deedlebug covers the cost of her special food. Dorothy adores love and cuddles from humans, but doesn’t like other cats. She is AMAZING with kids.

Bella is about 8 and was surrendered to Deedlebug as she had a broken foot and her owner was going to put her to sleep. She has been with one of our amazing carers, who was hoping to adopt her, but whose circumstances have now unfortunately changed. Bella’s foot is all healed now. She is the sweetest girl, who wants nothing more than to sit close with her humans. She is a lovely companion, although would be best in a home with no young kids. Older and gentle, mature kids should be fine. Bella also needs to be an only animal. She doesn't like other cats, and would be best in a home without dogs either.

Dawn is only about 18 months old. Again, she is being surrendered through no fault of her own. Dawn is a gorgeous wee snuggly girl who is incredible with the little boy who adopted her. She was great with her littermates as a kitten, but hasn’t been with cats since then. Would likely be fine with slow and careful introduction. We are not sure how she is with dogs

Sweet Ellie definitely puts the P in Purrfect! Ellie has all of the trademark traits that will make a cat lover fall instantly in love. She is mischievous and clever, delightfully playful, and very cute and cuddly!

Ellie is a very laid back kitty and she seems quite happy to get along with any animal or human who comes her way. She loves company (whether that be feline, canine, or human), and will often surprise you by sneaking up and pressing hard into your body for a cosy, cuddly sleep. If she’s not cuddling with you, you will definitely find her snuggling with one of her kitty or doggie friends.

Although she may be a bit shy at first (she’ll hide until she’s comfortable), once Ellie is settled, you’ll often hear her before you see her - ‘playing’ the piano, diving on an unsuspecting sleeping person’s feet, and generally loving life! Ellie also loves flies and if you hear a bang and a crash, you’ll instantly know that it’s Ellie playing ‘catch the fly’.

Ellie currently lives with a large mastiff dog, an adult cat, and two children aged four and five. Though it may take her a bit to come out of her shell, it is well worth the wait for the joy, love, and infectious curiosity towards life that this little kitty shares!

If you have an elderly cat or dog, I cannot recommend highly enough getting a portrait shoot of them done while they are well and living their best lives. Often people book these shoots when their fur-kid receives a terminal diagnosis, and often-times they are too ill to do it.

And for those of you thinking that your cat would never photograph well in a studio, as the President of Deedlebug I have taken SOOOO many kitties to Jane to be photographed (as she does this free for our kitties who need to be adopted out). Most of the time I have thought the shoot would be disastrous, as they did not want to play ball (pardon the pun!). But somehow, Jane always manages to find exquisite images from every shoot. This woman is a force of nature and one of the best in her field...

My name is Cloud, but my personality is more like that of a rainbow - full of love and sweet surprises!

I am the prettiest, most enchanting little girl. I can be a little shy at first, but give me a few days and I will seek you out for never ending head scratches and cuddles.

I am a typically playful kitten and I enjoy lots of adventurous play. My favorite toys would have to be the laser toy, my ribbon and my brother’s tail! I will entertain you for hours on end, if you can keep up with my energy.

When I am done playing, and I would like some cuddles, I will let you know using the sweetest, most delicate little “meows”.

I have spent some time with school children and I don’t mind being picked up and cuddled like a baby. I am a little lady who uses my litter tray and I love my food. I am a social girl and am very good around other cats. I would love my new home to have another kitty to play with, as I would get too sad and lonely without a friend.

Odyssey and Owl are a truly stunning sister duo. Both girls have the prettiest tabby and white markings, with striking eyes that will have you mesmerised in no time!

Odyssey is an easygoing girl and she enjoys spending her day lazing about in the sun in the catrun, or just hanging about nearby. She loves playtime and if she hears a bell or the laser toy, she will quickly come running in for a play. You will never have a problem with flies with Odyssey around, she is the best fly catcher around!

With her foster family, Odyssey is trusting and loving. She enjoys being around them and loves to get her purr on while giving out some head boops. She isn't quite as keen on strangers though, and will quickly run and hide when new people come near. You can see this gorgeous girl in action in the clip below.

Owl is still very timid and the least confident of the girls. Owl enjoys some pats and scratches, though she does tend to startle easily. She will happily approach you and run around your legs, and though she isn’t a lap cat at this stage, she does have the potential to be one in her own home.

Owl loves to spend her days sleeping on the bed or hanging around outside in the catrun. She would ideally need access to a secure catrun, as she prefers to be outside when the weather permits.

IDEAL HOME: Both Owl and Odyssey are not likely to manage well with a meet and greet. Their potential adopter may simply have to take a chance with them. They would need someone who is willing to give them that opportunity, along with plenty of patience and understanding, and a lot of unconditional love.

Both Owl and Odyssey get along great with other cats, but they are also happy to just chill with their humans. They would do best in a quiet and stable household and would be most suited to someone single, a couple, or possibly a family with older, quieter kids. They would not suit a home with young children or dogs.

Please come and meet these amazing girls today. With a bit of time and patience, we know that they won’t disappoint, and you will get to see just how much love these girls have to give 💕

My name is Penelope! I am a friendly girl and I have the sweetest nature. I can be a little shy at first, but once I get to know you, you will find out that I like to be with you and I purr a lot! My carer also says that I sound very much like I say "hello" when I meow.

I have the most beautiful yellow eyes and a huge fluffy tail, just like a squirrel! My fur is very soft and fluffy and I will need brushing regularly please.

I enjoy being up high and love to lay on the top of the cat tower next to the window, just watching the world go by. I also enjoy a good play and I love my scratching post. I am not fussy with my toys and like playing with a ball, little toy mice, and even moths and flies! I love trying to catch them and am quite often successful.

When I am done playing, I like nothing better than having a good snooze on the bed, or if I can find a lap, I also like laying on a warm lap and watching television.

I have had access to a totally enclosed outdoor area and I really enjoy my outside time. I would love my new home to have an enclosed outdoor space for me, where I can maybe catch some moths and watch the birds. I am totally cat litter tray reliant, and I know how to use a cat/dog door.

I am currently living with three other cats and have no issues with them. I also live with two dogs, and though I am still a little bit wary of the medium sized dog, I am ok with the very small dog, and he and I often sniff each others noses.

I have spent some time with older children and I don’t mind being picked up and cuddled like a baby. I am very healthy and although I am a slow eater, I enjoy my food, especially the fishy flavours.

Hi, my name is Gaia and I have the most stunning green eyes! I have been a very young mum to some beautiful babies, now it is time for me to relax and enjoy a new loving family.

I was a very protective mum to my babies and I can get a bit spooked at times. Really I am just craving some affection from a human that I can trust and rely upon. Once I get to know you I will pamper you with my head bops, purrs and affection, and I quickly become a big smooch then!

I am not too keen on the other cats at my foster home, though this is possibly related to my protectiveness towards my kittens and may change over time. I haven’t yet had exposure to dogs.

I adore the attention of children and would love to become part of a loving family. My ideal home would be one with lots of attention, cuddles, and reassurance.

Quirky is missing from Edgeworth Circuit in Tapping.
She is a small, black, female cat with a white patch on her chest. Wearing a red collar. Quirky is desexed and microchipped.

Quirky has medium length black fur, with some rusty highlights. She has a slightly scruffy appearance, ie. think of her as a mix between the three photos below.

Quirky is friendly, but is shy and timid. It is preferred that you do not pick her up, as she is unable to retract her claws.

Teeny tiny Hawk 🍼

At PETBARN CURRAMBINE tomorrow - Saturday the 13th of April! ✨ Teeny tiny Hawk will be attending our Meet and Greet Adoption Event tomorrow, just to say hello! 😽 Hawk is only 5 weeks old and is tiny, though he has doubled in size since he came into care three weeks ago! He is still being bottle fed and due to his age and susceptibility to infection, Hawk won’t be available for cuddle time. You will definitely be able to say hi though and you may even be lucky enough to peek in at bottle time! His carer will be more than happy to talk you through his care, and what it means to foster these young bubs ✨🍼 Head down to PETBARN CURRAMBINE from 9:30 onwards, we’d love to see you there! 🐾🩵

The Mama Amy Story...

🙏 Today is the one year anniversary of the rescue of Mama Amy and her babies 🙏 The Mama Amy Story… On the 18th February 2023, three tiny kittens were found dumped in a hedge by a main road in Perth, in 35-degree celsius heat. One of the plucky wee souls (later named ‘Spud’) came out and cried for help from people passing by. Luckily, these kind people scooped him and his siblings up and took them to a carer for Deedlebug Cat Rescue, where they got immediate treatment and care. Later that evening, another two kittens were found nearby, and they were swiftly reunited with their siblings. Deedlebugs foster carer named the kittens Spud, Ellen, Brook, Wolfie and Kevin. All five kittens were severely emaciated and dehydrated, and had life-threatening flea and parasite loads. With around-the-clock tender loving care, all five kittens made it through the first night. Heart-breakingly however, Spud, the biggest of the kittens and the one who got help for himself and his siblings, died suddenly after 36 hours in care. Spuds carer, and everyone involved in their rescue, were beyond devastated. Two days after the kittens were initially found, their emaciated mother was found close to death. She had likely been dumped heavily pregnant, or just after her kittens were born, and had also been in a serious accident – having a shattered pelvis and being unable to walk. It was thought that this young mother was likely only six months old. Piecing things together, Deedlebug believe that this young mum had been hit by a car after her babies were born, and must have been dragging herself around by her front paws, to try to find food for her starving babies. We think her kittens were found on their own while she was away in search of food for them. ‘Mama Amy’ as the rescue called her (in honour of the volunteer who rushed out late at night to help her), was taken to an emergency vet, where she was put on a drip and received pain relief overnight.
