Monday makes us all feel like having a lazy day 😴😴

πŸ“Έ Photo is of Rami! A beautiful Ragdoll cat, cream coloured long fur and chocolate brown on his face with white markings on his forhead and nose. He has beautiful blue eyes. He also has brown on his paw that leads down to a white sock. He is laying splayed across a pale wood table, his head is facing the camera but his euyes are looking away. Looks very relaxed. The backround is a blur of white, greeny-blue and you can see a blurred outline of the pale wood chairs that match the table.

Hello my lovelies!!
Some updates coming to Paws and Claws: Pet Sitting and Photography in the new year ^_^

Our rates for pet sitting are increasing slightly to $20 an hour to help with cost of living

Pricing for a full day will remain to be $80 from 8am-8pm

Any trip that is over 30 km away from where we are stationed in armadale will require a $10 travel fee for each trip to your house. This is to help with the rise in fuel costs.

All clients will be required to make the full payment for bookings by two days before said bookings. This is non refundable and to ensure last minute cancellations are kept to a minimum.
If full amount is not paid by two days before your booking, your booking will be cancelled.

All bookings made before the 1st of January will be charged our old rates of $15 per hour.

Thankyou all for the support and for choosing Paws and Claws: Pet Sitting and Photography

We had the wonderful opportunity to meet up with Chance from H.A.A.R.T (Homeless and Abused Animal Rescue Team)

Chance's history is a bit of a mystery, he was found emaciated on the streets with wounds to the face. Its unknown how long he was out there or how he was treated. Yet, he has made a full recovery and has shown his true nature, he's just a big cuddly teddy bear!!

Take a chance today!! (Pun intended!) He would make a great best friend!

Meet Otis!
He's up for adoption at H.A.A.R.T (Homeless and Abused Animal Rescue Team)
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting up with himself and HAARTS to take some photos of him. All my fingers are crossed for this sweet bubba to find his forever home. Here is some info:

Otis is a five month old pup. He can be wary upon first meeting someone, once he has realised that your safe his personality ✨️SHINES✨️ he is such a gentle, yet playful pooch and has so so much love to give. He would make a brilliant place for himself in your heart πŸ’–

My heart goes out to all the poor animals without a place to call their own. HAARTS does an incredible job at helping dogs and cats find their way. Thankyou HAARTS!

Will you be the way for Otis?

For more information about Otis, head over to HAARTS's page! Please, follow, share, like and comment on their page so they know that the dogs and cats aren't the only ones that appreciate their work ^_^

We had the absolute pleasure of meeting up with Staffy and Bully Breed Rescue Inc. to take some photographs of a beautiful rescue pup, Casper! πŸ‘»

Casper is a gorgeous, very friendly boy that always seems to have a smile on his face!
He is neutered, fully vaccinated and desperately looking to find a loving foster or forever home with another dog to call a friend!
He has a massive personality, lots of energy and more love to give then you could even imagine.

From the short time we spent with Casper, we can already tell that he would make an INCREDIBLE companion ❀️

Casper is stuck at the kennel, waiting for his future Pawrents to come see him!

It is important when bringing a new dog into your life to consider breed and how said breed matches your lifestyle.

Each dog breed has specialise requirements that are important to meet to ensure your pet is happy and healthy. Care, diet and needs can differ for each dog.
For example, a working dog such as a Border Collie, may need more exercise and mental stimulation then a dog specifically bred for companionship like a pug. (This doesn't mean that a pug doesn't need those things)

It's also important to consider common health concerns that are associated with certain breeds. For instance French bulldogs are well known to have difficulty breathing due to the structure of their heads and airways.
This can cause long-term health concerns and potentially a multitude of vet bills.

Understanding the breed of the dog you are looking into is extremely important.
Especially if the dog is a mixed breed.

Mixed breeds may have multiple traits and health concerns from ANY of the breeds that are mixed into the dog.
You MUST consider the traits, diets, mental/physical needs and common health/behavioural concerns of all breeds mixed into the mutt.

Chip your pet month!
A microchip goes a long way!!

every year, thousands of pets, go missing. whether they ran/flew away, escaped, slipped out, got spooked, stolen. etc. there are just too many ways that it could happen.
Which is why a microchip is so important.

A microchip is a small chip that is implanted under your pets skin by a vet. It can be scanned upon finding a lost pet and gives the scanner information such as:
contact details
what suburb the pet is from
the pets medical information
and your pets personal ID number

although some microchips information varies, it all does the same thing *HELPS YOU REUNITE WITH YOUR PET*

collars with information doesn't always help, often pets lose their collars, or are even harmed by them. people often forget to check collar info as well.

as important as it is to get a microchip, its important to keep the information up to date

contact your vet for more inforation and do research before getting your pet microchipped ^_^

This month has more in stock then just heart worm awareness month!
This month is also

So how can you keep your dog physically and mentally active?

Walks and outside time is a great way to keep your dog both mentally and physically active. The walking/running keeps their muscles stimulated while all the different smells, sights and sounds keep their mind active. Ensure that your dog is up to date with their vaccinations before taking them outside. If you are unable to walk your dog, there's no shame in hiring a pet walker to help you out, or try some of these "at home" activity's!

Training your dog, different enrichment toys such as snuffle mats, snuffle balls, old notted towel toys, etc and fetch are just a few great ways to keep your dogs body and mind active πŸ’ͺ

When a dog is bored you tend to see behavioural issues such as hyperactivity and over excitement, destructive behaviours and self mutilation (like overgrooming, biting off nails ect.)

Which is why it's so important to raise awareness on different ways to keep dogs active πŸ•

πŸ“Έ this short video is of Senja, a beautiful Staffy that loves being active 🐾

heart worm, Dirofilaria immitis is a horrible disease caused by a parasitic worm that can be passed on through a mosquito's bite.

Heart worm effects mainly but not only cats, dogs and ferrets. Causing organ damage such as heart failure, lung disease, caval syndrome and often death, it is important to be aware of and prevent heart worm.

Vets can prescribe treatment and prevention.

Know the symptoms:

Coughing, lethargy, trouble breathing, signs of heart failure. Often symptoms outside of this are found via vet testing.

If concerned always call a vet.

Although we can all agree that cats are not always the most... polite companions, knocking things of shelves, putting their bottoms on just about any surface and sitting in the least convenient spots for us, we can also all agree that these traits are part of what makes them so unique and loveable!

Today is respect your cat day, a day to raise awareness on how to respect your cat/s.
Every cat is different though, so how do YOU respect your cat?
