Winter is fast approaching! Just a gentle reminder as we keep coats longer for winter this increases the chances of matting, if the coat is not thoroughly brushed out. I will try my best to brush it out but it may be shaved out.

🩸🐾 DOGGY BLOOD DONORS NEEDED 🐾🩸

The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University is in desperate need of doggy blood donations! The team over there runs an in house blood bank! However, with the growing demand for blood (disease and trauma) and some doggy donors reaching retirement age, they are on the lookout for some new life saving pets. 🐶

There are a few requirements to be a doggy blood donor:

🐾 Aged between 1-7 years old
🐾 Be 20kg, or greater
🐾 Healthy and of appropriate body weight
🐾 Calm, relaxed temperament
🐾 Currently on flea/tick prevention
🐾 Up to date with current annual vaccinations
🐾 Not on a complete raw diet
🐾 No previous blood transfusions
🐾 Available for donations every 3-4month

💙 Flea/tick preventives
💙 Physical health examination at every visit

It’s the time of year that all dog owners dread – grass seed season! The shape of the grass seed means they attach easily to an animal’s fur and burrow into the skin. Once in the skin the seed may ‘track’ further into the foot or up the leg. In some very rare cases they can travel throughout the body and be found causing problems in very odd places!
Consider not walking your dog in areas where there are long, flowering grasses during the summer months. After your walk check your dog’s coat thoroughly, paying particular attention between the toes, in the ears and in the armpits. It is often possible to spot and brush out the seeds before they start to work their way deeper into the coat. 🌾🐶

Dear customers,

In order to ensure we can continue to provide you the best service we are able to, a series of price increases will be applied to select services as of 1 March. This is to cover increasing labour and consumable costs, and adjust our prices to reflect the amount of time and effort required to groom certain large breed dogs and dogs with matted coats.

Firstly, as of 1st March, we will be increasing our prices for large breed dogs with long/curly coats (e.g. Oodles/Samoyeds etc). This is due to the fact that these breeds can comfortably take 2 hours or longer, and current prices don’t reflect the effort and cost to us to perform this service.

Secondly, we will also be increasing the price of matting fees. The matting unfortunately blunts our blades & the cost to have blades sharpened is upwards of $27 per blade (which has increased in recent times), and the time and additional care taken to remove deep matting can be costly and time consuming. On average we use 1-2 blades per matted dog for a full groom.

We hope you understand that these changes are necessary for us to carry on giving you the best service that we can.
